45 pages of crap over a 3rd rd pick?

hahahahahaha

Ben finger-banging that little drunk ***** in the toilet never got this much coverage

hahaha

I thought he was getting a BJ when she fell and banged her head. I'm still surprised her DTF bracelet didn't give her magic sobriety powers.

Ok, you're right, saying he's going to wash out and there "will be 10 guys" we'll wish we had taken instead of him is in no way, shape, or form saying without a doubt he will fail. Now, for our next trick, we shall debate what the term "until" really means.

Joe

It seems our fourth rounder had some problems with the ball. Did not catch anything on Friday from one report and was already being subject to Tomlin's dog house on Saturday, and this was from an experienced big receiver with lots of measurables.

I read that he got hurt (minor) on friday making a catch and was held out Saturday as a precaution.

Well now we know why he is in the lower numbers, he needed to wear a number with a 1 in it or they would be two small to read and I think 81 is busy. Although I am surprised he did not end up with 11.

11 is already taken, Marcus Wheaton.

This doesn't surprise you does it? The first and second round picks are widely accepted, so they just go to the first pick that they can't accept and let nature takes it course. It's the SN way

And those are all guarantees? Beyond a shadow of a doubt? "Without a doubt" as you put it? How is that different from saying, "I think the Steelers will beat the Bengals today"?

If you can't find anything, just say so.

There was a ton of love for the Shazier and Tuitt picks, as well as the rest of the draft. By me and by many others. Hell, I started a thread drooling over Shazier. Still not good enough? Must EVERY pick, EVERY player, EVERY decision be jerked off over by one and all?

Mr. Cocky and Conceited gets called on his bullshit and his tampon goes from moist to soggy at the drop of a hat.

Taking things personal are we? I didn't mention your name in my post did I? What did I say that was wrong? Last year everyone hated the Jones pick, so that was the thread that went on forever and ever. This year everyone is wasting bandwidth on a third round pick. No one is giving up, when both sides should. 46 pages of the same **** over and over again... FOURTY SIX PAGES!!!! Let that sink in, then you climb off of that high horse your so proud to sit on and give it a rest.

I gave up on the Archer debate long, long ago. Now I'm trying to wade through t-man's and andrew's bullshit accusations. But you're right: it doesn't matter. Time to walk away.

High horse. LOL. Only on SN do we have such sensitive, whiny pussiness.

I am really disappointed because I doubt that this thread has the fire power to make it to 50 pages.

All we need is a few more posts about me!

Plus a healthy repetition of "Look how many pages!"

maybe a dash of "You're not a real fan!"

How is that any worse than people bitching about long threads on a message board? Don't like the subject? Don't like the thread? I think you know how to rectify that situation right?

I see Dicknocchio has my name in his mouth again lying and making up ****.

Idioteque, not sure why everyone around here thinks you're a Debbie Downer who's been piling-on the negativity re Archer starting from page 1 of this thread. I stopped midway, around page 20, but this is a decent rundown of your "fair and balanced" analysis of the Archer pick:

Archer was not a punt returner in school. It's not something just anyone can do; there's more to it than running in a straight line. In shorts. Archer and all of his speed wasn't given that job at Kent effing State. I suppose it will be easier in the NFL.. ?

I can't even imagine 10 snaps a game. Dude is 5'7 173. And he's 23 already. I don't forsee him ever topping 175-180. Where do you play him? The slot? LOL. People are thinking Darren Sproles. Yeah ******* right.

You mean shuffle him from third-string RB to do-nothing slot receiver? Sounds good for a third.

Even the greatest PR in history, Devin Hester, would be a borderline third-round pick as a strict returner without playing on offense. Quite a bar for a 5'7 guy from Kent State.

Even if Archer were a world-class PR, the third round is a joke.

With a guy who's never been a punt returner. And is too small to play on offense. And doesn't have a position. And has an injury history. And played at Kent State.

I'm sure they have a plan for him. They had a plan for Rainey, too. Doesn't mean the plan will work, and all recent history suggests it can't/won't.

Some of us are predicting him to fail because 100% of similar prospects with similar red flags fail.

Where in the lineup is he going to play? He'll be exciting when we play teams whose kickers can't kickoff into the end zone. I can't think of another role.

Hard to see 5'7 173 getting past NFL cornerbacks, especially since he played limited WR snaps at a small school. He'd be one of the few WRs who actually has a disadvantage in size against any CB in the league.

173 pounds with astoundingly short arms and small hands.

Archer is 23 years old. Don't forsee his frame suddenly "maturing" after 23. It goes beyond height/weight. His frame is tiny. Perhaps that's why he was an oft-injured part-time player at Kent State. His arms are among the shortest in the entire class. His hands are among the smallest in his entire class. Perhaps that's why he fumbled at an unimaginable rate.

Nobody Archer's size has been successful in the NFL in decades. Plus he fumbles wayyyy too much and his only real skill, returning kickoffs, is being phased out of the NFL. His issues go way beyond his impossibly small stature.

Some points to sum up the idiocy of this pick: Archer isn't small. He isn't a scatback. He isn't Darren Sproles, DeSean Jackson, Willie Parker, or any other smallish NFL player. He's miniscule. There have been zero successful NFL WRs his size, especially ones who were college RBs and have incredibly short arms and small hands.

History suggests Archer won't have a role in the NFL, and that the Steelers have been trying to find a super-athletic open-field slash guy for many years and have usually failed, and that Archer lacks 95% of the qualities needed to be that guy. Common sense tells us that we skipped over a lot of future NFL contributors to take him. I guarantee a handful of players taken after Archer will be big-time contributors.

Even if his many red flags work themselves out naturally and he DOES stay on the field and DOES stop fumbling constantly, his upside is severely capped. He's tiny and has no true position. Kick returner, 5 snaps a game. That looks like his upside.

Just that it's never. *******. Happened. Ever. But I'm sure a chronic fumbler and injury case is the one who will revolutionize the entire NFL.

You're right, today's NFL further minimizes Archer's only contribution, returning kickoffs.

Even if Archer reaches McCluster's modest production, it will still probably be a poor pick.

I've stated repeatedly that it has never happened, and that his extenuating circumstances (fumbles, injury history, lack of a true position, etc., etc.) make it appear even less likely to happen. Just so, so many red flags for a third-round pick with no durability and no position. I think this one will ultimately cost us a much more valuable player than Archer, as I don't think he's going to dress for many games in the NFL.

I'm still struggling hard to find all of these guarantees and absolutes. Waiting patiently! And flattered by the time and effort you put into me. Must have taken you 30-45 minutes.

Try 3-5 minutes...don't flatter yourself too much, I know it's a challenge.

LOL. You read 20+ pages and copy/pasted my posts in 3-5 minutes? Never **** a *******!

Still holding hope in the desperate search of a guarantee. Or anything even close to one. Didn't realize a prediction was some unbending, bet-my-life promise. And here I thought SN had a "Predict the final score" thread for pretty much every nationally televised football game.

oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

because he danced all around it and didn't flat out guarantee that Archer will be a bust, then he never said Archer will be a bust.

I'm sorry, so you are saying, in fact, that when you said he'd wash out, what you really meant to say was he has a chance of washing out. Right? And when you said there WOULD be 10 guys we WOULD wish we had taken, and then went on to LIST those 10 guys, and I happened to mention I planned to call you on it, you then decided you meant there MIGHT be 10 guys, and he MIGHT wash out, and hell, you have no way of knowing after all, I mean jeezuz, don't put you on the spot like that, it's not like you've spent the entire ******* thread harping on how very very very very very unlikely it will be that this guy makes it though one season with us. Nah, we're all the ones misunderstanding what you're saying. It's not you.

Couldn't possibly be you.

BTW, WILL your list or WON'T it be correct in time? You're demanding accurate future telling from our coaches, by saying they MUST find a proven starter in round three, so as such, you should be able to provide the list of those said starters, or you're simply another "told ya so" waiting to happen once you wait 3-4 years and look back saying "Seee, players x,y, and z were ALL available and we took this shmuck." Easy enough to do in three to four years, much harder now, as evidenced by your backtracking.
