Vick meeting with Steelers

That's racist ... We have serial killers too!

F you ***** killer! ;)

The relation of Vick to Dahmer is laughable. No way could Vick be a serial killer. He's not white...

oh so black people aren't allowed to be serial killers......racist

And we should blame Landry for this. If that ****** were any better, Vick would still be unemployed.

Tip to Haley: When Vick is out of breath, as stated, shock him with a car battery or hold his head under water for motivation. If that fails, have McCullers swing him overhead and slam him to the ground.

So we signed an inaccurate , declining QB that was UNPREPARED ,to enter a game in his own words last year with the Jets. He is a locker room cancer and a thug, wonderful, Tomlin has had a hard on for his homeboy for years and of course yesterday said he has the arm to make all the throws. He has had that arm for 14 years yet is below the line in every passing QB, typical Tomlin who thinks the horrible Gradkowski was a good backup despite being one of the worse passers in the NFL over his career.More evidence that Tombert have no clue on QBs.

yeah Tomlin signed him all by himself.....

I will say, every FA we've brought in so far in the Tomlin era (with the exception of Cam Thomas, and jury still out on Mike Mitchell) has worked out very well for us. So I trust their decision in this. As far as Gradkowski, he was the very identical clone of Ben in terms of play style when he was signed, fortunately Ben hasn't been injured so he never got the chance to show it.

My thoughts after having time to digest this -- I feel bad for those of you who have never been close enough to a pet to be able to understand the outrage some of us have. I have been around animals my whole life and cannot fathom how any human being would get enjoyment from their torture. That's just the mindset I'm coming from and that isn't going to change. Just because I love animals doesn't mean I don't care about domestic violence or child abuse. I am a multifaceted human being, capable of caring about more than one thing at a time.

I can't remember ever being ashamed to be a Steeler fan before today. People try to draw comparisons with Ben, but they don't hold any weight with me. Why? Because there was no evidence against Ben, and he was never charged much less convicted. He was guilty of being an ******* and treating people like ****, but not rape. I read the police reports and that's the conclusion I drew. And that's the conclusion the D.A. drew as well. If I actually believed Ben raped those girls, I would not be a Steelers fan today. Period.

Another difference is Ben was already on the team, and as such I had a rooting interest in him changing his life around. In Vick's case, the Steelers willingly brought in from the outside a person who was convicted of heinous acts. They weren't already "saddled" with him, they chose to bring him here. That's the difference.

I feel pretty indifferent towards the team right now. I suppose by the time the season starts, I will be there watching and hoping for the best. But my excitement over football was already much less than years ago, before all of this. In light of that, I will just say that if Ben goes down, I'm out. I cannot root for Vick without feeling like a complete hypocrite. So if he has to start any games, I will not be watching or caring what happens. Should that come to pass, I wish the rest of you well.

I don't why you think that anyone that doesn't have an issue with the signing doesn't care about animals or isn't a pet lover. I have two cats (I can finally have a dog living where I live, and as soon as I find the right one, will have a dog as well). I love my pets, I've spent thousands of dollars in vet bills for them, I cannot imagine life without pets. But it doesn't change the fact that this is something that happened 8 years ago. 8 years ago I wasn't even close to the same person I am today, there are things that I did back then I wouldn't even dream of trying to do now. This is a football decision that people are taking way too personally. If this had JUST happened, and we were the first team to give him his second chance, it would be a much different situation...

One of my best friends spent 5 years in prison for armed robbery, since he was released, he has held the same job for over 10 years, hasn't even sniffed a parking ticket. Sometimes people change, their circumstances change, and their eyes can be opened to see the bigger picture. Everything was taken away from Vick, he hit rock bottom and has been able to bounce back. He hasn't been in trouble in the least bit since being reinstated. He has put countless hours of VOLUNTEER time with the SPCA, speaking against dog fighting, helping others that were in a similar situation as he was get help and get out of those situations. It really is time to let this go...enough of this moral high ground crap. Forgive and move on.

How can this front office reconcile signing Michael Vick but avoiding Randy Gregory in the draft?

Other teams' fans are already making up memes about "A rapist, a dog killer, and a pot head walk into a bar".... Total f'n embarrassment. **** Michael Vick, and everyone in the front office who signed off on acquiring him.

It could be because Randy Gregory wasn't on their draft board, could be that they had him rated pretty low, it's pure speculation that we didn't draft him because of his checkered past...

Wait ... Domestic VIOLENCE is not violence directed towards another human being? Or are you saying that murder is not a result of violence directed towards another human being? I get what you're saying about the connection between Vick and Dahmer (although to be fair to Dahmer, his dissections involved animals that were already dead). However, you lose me when you say that Rice and Dahmer don't have anything in common. I see that both of them directed violent actions towards other human beings. Dahmer's actions resulted in murder, With the way that woman's head hit that rail, Ray Rice is lucky his didn't also.

No, I think you read too much into it.
I think it's a stretch to assume Vick is a better person than Rice based on their known criminal history.

Tomlin loves Vick wanted to sign him in 2009 but the Rooneys said no, Yeah you're right Tomlin had no hand in this, just his raging hard on for all things Vick.

you are implying that Tomlin did this all by himself.....I was just pointing out that he is not the guy who offers contracts to FA.....

true as Rooney signed off on it, Colbert reached out and brought him in....

all three played a hand in it

Charlie Batch and Snoop Dogg on NFL channel cheering on Michael Vick!

Charlie says hell ya!

So to go on record you aren't concerned about two of the buts of that joke but the one offends you.

I will absolutely go on record with that.

Rape is a despicable act, one of the most harmful things one person can do to another. Yet, no one can confirm that Ben is guilty of such an act. In fact, in both cases, the character of the alleged 'victims' is more in question than that of Ben Roethlisberger, so I don't judge him on that. In fact, its my opinion that he is likely totally innocent of those accusations.

Pot smoking? Are you serious? You want to compare that to animal torture and killing? Really?

Ahhh, OK, I see what you're saying now. Thanks for the clarification.

Vick and Gradkowski (and Tebow) beat us handily when they played for other teams.

The front office should be ashamed for note having a suitable qb ready. So they sign vick, a washed up broken down veteran. But they held on the Landry Jones all this time for nothing. Tombert has no eye for talent.

LOL....How many vet QB's should they be carrying at one time?

Tombert ****** up again. Rex Grossman was available and the Falcons signed him. Uncle Rico too. He would have made state if coach had put him in 4th quarter.

I do not get your point,

Clearly.

I am not sure you have one.

I do, but based on your comprehension of these posts, I'm not sure you could get it.

The laws that are the protections apply to all people. It is illegal to discriminate based on race which seems to be the only thing you are interested in.

Let me see. I've primarily focused on late term abortions and the harvesting of babies, while living, for research. But 'race is all I'm interested in' (reference previous comment about comprehension). OK. LOL.

The "laws" you referenced in your first post (I quote you - "Babies, blacks, and latinos already have those protections. The unborn don't have them yet.") do not apply to all. See, this is the point I was trying to make previously. They do NOT apply to all. You believe they do. Are you familiar with legal v illegal abortions? The unborn are allowed to be aborted up to a certain point. That's it. After that, they are considered human beings, and they are not to be aborted. The harvesting of babies, as shown in the 7th Planned Parenthood video, is illegal. It is murder. You sir, are wrong, in your claim that the unborn have no rights. Roe v Wade stipulates that abortion is legal up to the point of "viability", which is about the 22nd or 24th week of pregnancy. This is, at a max, a right to abort 'under the law' up to and until about 6 months of pregnancy. After that point, the child, inside the womb, is legally considered a life and 'protected.' The unborn, beyond 6 months, absolutely have rights. And those babies are being aborted and harvested for research. And to my original point, no one gives a damn, but hey....Mike Vick tortured dogs and that is heinous.

Interesting you have brought up the bullets flying in Chicago like it is some master discrimination plan.

Clearly, you've no idea who I am. I encourage you to visit the God & Government section. You're labeling me as if I'm a Liberal LOL. Never has a label been more misapplied. I don't believe that what is happening in Chicago is "discrimination" SMH. But I believe those lives are valuable. Very valuable. And I know that no one seems to even bat an eye about it.

But Mike Vick signs with the Steelers, and people will raise themselves from their daily stupor, and protest and scream "FOUL!". Show the news, and show that 20 people died in violence over the weekend in Chicago, and someone says "Hey, do we have any more salsa?"

In truth the biggest reason for many of those issues is the unintended consequences of the governments that have been elected, they are excellent examples of failed policies and the real value of the nanny state and the folks who need the government to make everything all better for them.

Finally, we have common ground. I'm deeply opposed to current policies. I believe the creation of the Nanny state has led to many of the problems we've seen in Chicago, Detroit, and Baltimore, places historically run by Liberals.

I don't believe for one minute that even had we not lost BGrad and signed Vick that Vick would have been out of football too much longer. Somebody was gonna sign him had it not been us. It would only be a matter of time.

Absolutely, but there are cultures where what we find appalling is commonplace and they simply don't grasp how wrong it was because it was something they grew up with. Maybe Vick is a sociopath, but then again maybe he is just an entitled fool who followed the wrong crowd and really is trying to make amends... I aint judging....

Wonder what goes thru the mind of a Hindu when they see us packed in an In N Out Burger, McDonalds, Burger King, or any American eating beef for that matter, when they hold the cow as very sacred. They probably think we are ****** warped and twisted three ways across a needle.
