Ohio State/Oregon

lets be realistic too, if this is any other year OSU isn't playing this game right now... pretty solid win for the playoff system... even if it needs expanded already

exactly. In the BCS system, they jam Alabama in there and ESPN is telling us the SEC is king and every other conference sucks.

Good game. Great team.

Ohio State displayed "true old school football"!!! Keep in mind the game is based on the line of scrimmage and not the quick line them up approach. All that hurry up and run the play to get the opposition off guard is BS. Oregon has had success with that type of set, get our guys on the ball before the defense can get set, I call BS again on that strategy as I'm old school. When teams line up with 11 against 11, snap the ball and let the game progress. The former coach for the Ducks made a name for this type of offense....and the NFL has caught up with the scheme. Football should get away from that trickery, ITS FOOTBALL not an aha we caught you off guard game plan. The Buckeyes were ready for the challenge and kicked their *** the old fashion way and I loved it! Time out for that snapping the ball quickly without allowing the defense to set. The Buckeyes played the game the way it's supposed to be played. Line them up and knock em down! Good game and the best team won. Oh, and what's up with those effed up uniforms Oregon wore? Sure they have Nike backing them, but in the biggest game in their school's history at least wear the school colors and not that silver/white garbage. They lost just from that...where was their green and gold? Oh well, they learned today!!!

All week long I felt that OSU had the better Defense. I knew that after running on Wisconsin and Alabama that OSU would run all over Oregon. My only worry was if OSU's defense had improved enough to stop a high powered attack like the Ducks. They did. I can't believe this. It is so surreal. What a difference a coach can make. Goodnight all!

What a total *** whipping. That type of football is why I became a Steelers fan in the first place. Hopefully one day they can get back to that. Congrats Buckeyes! Hopefully the Big 10 will get a little more respect moving forward.

I didn't get to see the entire game, but after that second third down drop in the first half by the Ducks (the one where he had NO ONE near him and was 40 yards down field), the Ducks just looked deflated. They got away from what was working, their D was no longer flocking to the ball, their OL just got manhandled. Even after getting turnovers, the Buckeyes didn't lose focus and the Ducks still looked like they already lost.

As for the people saying "they sure like being on the other side of things". It IS college football after all, where how badly you beat teams DOES matter. IF OSU doesn't CRUSH Wisconsin the way they did, they wouldn't even have made the playoffs.

Yes.

I don't dislike Oregon, but their style aggravates me. I am glad to see that no matter what gimmicky crap teams try.....football STILL is won and lost on the line of scrimmage.

That was damn impressive. -4 in turnovers and still win by 22.

Buckeyes deserve all the accolades
This. If you would have told me that OSU would have 4 turnovers, I would have predicted a lopsided Ducks win.
This was an impressive Buckeye win. Kudos to Urban Meyer.

Cannot believe how many people are ruffled and offended by Oregon scoring lots of points on their opponents. As though they're required by Man Law to take a knee in third quarters.

Football might not be for you.

I couldn't stay awake to see the 4th quarter, but what I saw of the game was impressive. I wasn't really rooting for either team, just for a good game. The fact that OSU won with their 3rd string QB and had 4 turnovers was incredible.

Kudos and congrats to OSU.

Ohio State destroyed Oregon. 4 turnovers or they would have had 50 plus points using their 3rd string QB. Although, my guess is he will be their starter next year. Congrats to Ohio State and to the Big Ten for a great bowl season.

It was a butt kicking. Oregon's uni's were cool though.

Bush league. OSU not taking a knee

You have to be a OSU fan to know why that isn't true - we fans lived through the era of Tressel Ball, where you get a lead, then put in the 2nd stringers. While the fans screamed to keep the foot on the pedal. And then they sometimes lost. He was a really good coach, but this drove me nuts.

Plus, let's just create a little fantasy here and say through some miracle, the Steelers were in the AFC Championship game vs. the Pats and they were in a similar situation, where Brady, Like Mariota could score in like 30 seconds. How many here would be screaming at Tomlin if he let off at that point.

I have not seen a group more demoralized, than Oregon, in a looong time. The defense wheezing, limping, the offense looking like zombies. They were just plain ***-whipped. I love it partially because it takes me back to a bygone era when the Steelers used to have their opponents in a similar situation.

Congrats to the Buckeye fans on the board as well as the Big 10 fans. "It's been a long time coming, but a change has finally come." OSU truly earned it.

LOL. Wasn't there much scoffing over Ohio State being considered for the Championship field a little over a month ago?

The debate was between them and TCU/Baylor... but there really wasn't much...

Of course. I mean with them not being from the SEC and all you could understand. There are no good players outside the SEC. Ohio State is slow because Big Ten.

Get over yourself Tape...

Ohio State isn't slow, nobody has said that at all...not with Meyer there...

Urban Meyer is a GOD

I wouldn't mind a backfield of Bell and Ezekiel Elliot in a couple years. My word that young man runs like marshawn lynch. Also, anybody take a flyer on cardale in the third round? I think I do.

"With the 22nd pick the Steelers select - Cardale Jones, QB"

That is a joke, right?

If they took him in the 3rd or later to sit behind Roethlisberger for a few years, I woudn't complain at all.

He's probably going back to school, however, and if he beats out Barrett and has a huge year, he'll be the first player drafted next year.

Just a few weeks ago, the media said Ohio State didn't belong in the playoff because the Big Ten was weak. Even after blowing out Wisconsin, you still had people saying OSU did not belong.

I must have missed the analysis that said Ohio state had more speed than Alabama. What I heard was Ohio State had no shot against an SEC team. Even after soundly beating Bama, I heard how Oregon might be too fast for Ohio State. Oregon was a TD favorite.

I'm just pointing out the ridiculousness of the media coverage of college football over the last decade.

You SEC guys know it's been rigged. I'm not talking about rankIng Bama high. I'm talking about the titles Bama won somehow being applied to the rest of the SEC.

At some point a benefit of the doubt became hard and fast rules. It used to be people thought the SEC was the top conference so they'd give the 3rd best SEC team the nod over the 2nd best big ten or acc or whatever. No problem with that. That's a reasonable discussion.

But that morphed into the 5th best SEC team would win the Big Ten every year. Florida State would lose 4 games in the SEC. TCU is undeserving because of a weak non conference schedule but SEC teams don't have to play anybody out of conference because every team on an SEC schedule is an epic battle.

These bowl games are just one more game, and should not be taken as definitive proof. Some games are decisive. Ohio State decisively beat Bama. Nobody can reasonably say Bama is better than Ohio state. Wisconsin beat Auburn in a close one. USC beat Nebraska is a close one. Those games are not decisive. The only thing learned is those teams were evenly matched.

Over th last decade the Big Ten and SEC have played a bunch of bowl. The SEC margin is not as great as most would think. There have been quite a few very close games. The SEC has been better but that's not the argument. The argument is over the gap between than that has been blown way out of proportion largely by just looking at bowl results only.

I take no pride in Ohio State winning. My team didn't win anything yesterday (actually they kind of did win something else). In all this, I've only ever wanted teams to be evaluated individually. Ohio State winning should not mean that northwestern should get ranked preseason.

I think next year for the first time in a long time, we will get some honest rankings of individual teams and not just a blind slotting of teams based on conference affiliation.

Todd McShay on Mike&Mike today - "Cardale Jones, a raw version of Ben Roethlisberger"

yeah, I'd take him and dump Landry
