The teams goal is to make it to and win a SuperBowl. Bell bet on the deal Gurley signed last year being his ace in the hole barganing chip, turns out it's a lot of the reason he didn't get paid. The Rams built their offense around a guy, then had a scrub come in and for several games perform just as well for a shitload less money, which made the whole league wonder how much of that was his ability, and how much was the Rams line. Then in the SuperBowl, that same offense scored 3 points.
Bell told everyone he sat out last year to preserve his body, I would have asked him if he wasn't willing to bet 14.5 million dollars on being able to make it though ONE season, why I would offer him 30 million dollars? I mean, he's essentially saying he's worried about injury to the point that he doesn't want to risk it for 14.5 million dollars for a year, yet he wants me, as an owner to hand him 30 million and just trust him to stay healthy.
Think long and hard about how stupid I'd have to be to make that deal.
