The point would be: if Bell would have gotten into it with Ben, does he get jacked and his "guaranteed" money taken? Or does Ben get cut? Keep in mind the dead cap money the Steelers ate to trade AB.

I mentioned those three in particular for how disrespectful they are of the Steelers organization and more importantly the fans. These ******* act like we fans are THEIR fans and not fans of the team. Sure, we may have jerseys, tshirts, follow these self-important ********* on social media and sometimes interact with them on those platforms, but make no mistake. When a player of whom we had invested a lot of emotional interest in over the years by watching them develop, cheering their accomplishments and absorbing some of their dejection in defeats - when that player goes to another team and turns around to throw shade and disrespect the team we loved since before those ******* were born, then, yes, we deserve to get salty.

We all lament how the P***s have a culture, but then don't see that that culture is passed down by the players.

that point was not one that held up or extended from the foundation of your argument. Your argument was that these guys wanted the money due them in their contract. As pointed out in the A ***** situation, A ***** got his money.
the players do not care - and why should they? - if the team goes into cap hell if they are cut. The team being in cap hell has zero impact on the player(s) financial status. zero. exactly the same number of gray brain cells that LeVeon has.

in your hypothetical, it wouldnt matter who they pushed off the roster. Ben's contract would also accelerate payment and have an impact on the cap. Or do you not want Ben to be paid his money in this hypothetical? Guaranteed money is just that - guaranteed. It seems someone in this thread doesn't understand that the Steelers honor the contracts of their star players. Bell was almost certain to see all 5 years and all $70 million of that contract. Remember that they would've restructured a couple of times so he would have had more money pushed forward. The Jets deal guarantees Bell $28 million at signing and unlike the Steelers, I could see Bell being a cap casualty after three years.

I dont know - maybe the Steelers are so honorable that if Bell gets into a lockeroom fight with Ben or Tomlin or one of the OL, they would not cut his ***, take a cap hit, and take back his so-called guaranteed money. If i'm Bell and the Steelers with three uber-high priced superstars, i cannot be the last to sign a contract without substantial guarantees. when push comes to shove

I just think the rolling guarantee had a lot more to do with his drug habits than with injury protection. If you think the Steelers are that kind of organization then you haven't followed Shazier situation

Adrain Peterson had a year off from the league that probably extended his career. He'll receive $1.5 million to sign with a $1.03 million base salary. In 2020, Peterson will have a $2.25 million base salary with up to $250,000 in bonuses for being on the 46-man roster.

Those are the extra year contracts Bell can expect after he turns 30.

You do realize they are paying a guy currently so he can keep his medical and complete his recovery at the team facility when it's extremely unlikely he'll ever play football again, right? That's a very poor business decision, but it's the right thing to do. Any player who sees that and then thinks the Steelers are looking to **** them is a moron.

I'm not going to pretend Bell isn't good. He runs well, he catches well, and most overlooked, he pass blocks well. He's the ultimate multi-purpose back. His only downside was big runs. He has never been a 40+ yard guy. Conner improved on his pass blocking and has proven himself in running and receiving. We're fine there. And its a good thing Bell chose door 3 because with the whole Antonio Brown thing playing out as it did, we'd be screwed cap-wise right now with Leveon money and AB's dead money. So there's that.

Counts against it. If we had Bell on our roster rn we wouldn't have had 14mil of that 20+ mil in cap space, which has come in handy seeing how we have 21mil in AB's dead money that was converted to bonus and paid to him to make room last year for the 14mil earmarked for tagging Bell.
