Initial Thoughts bears Game

I will add one more little tidbit to this discussion. And this has pissed me off all season. And last season. And probably the one before that too. Why the hell can we not have a fast KO and PR ? Is this some type of joke? Someone you describe as “Electric “ I know they don’t grow on trees, but come on now. Why don’t they try Roman Wilson. Not like they throw over two passes to him. He returned some at Michigan. Maybe it’s a way to get him involved. Create some confidence. Let’s see what the hell he’s got. He had lots of YAC in Michigan. So he must have some type of instinct. Switch it up Mike!
You're making too much sense.

Disagree. Rodgers can make every throw. The problems with him start when the O-line doesn't hold up, they held up today.
Mason is timid.
Speaking of Rodgers, how in the world is he going to be ready to play next week when he couldn't play today? It's not like his injury will be healed by then and he should still have a brace on.

Can he make every throw accurately? Can he do it without living in his fears? At times it feels like the man is scared of getting hurt now…
There is no doubt whatsoever in my mind this is true Slash. Especially the last 3-4 games. Now with this wrist situation,I smell trouble. He will always make a couple incredible throws a game as he was a great player. But will be inconsistent. Ben was exactly the same way at the end. When you suggested putting in Howard I did disagree. I wanted our coaching staff to have nothing to do with his development. It’s not like they would let him throw down the field. But maybe I was a bit hasty. Some game time experience might not be a bad thing. Mike Tomlin can be his own worst enemy sometimes with his big mouth. His not living in fears comment has got to be the most hypocritical thing he’s said.

I heard on one of the pregames that when it's a fresh break, you have to wait for the healing process to at least start or else it will break again. So after 2 weeks, it's possible the bones will have started to adhere and it will be stable enough to play with some sort of soft cast or brace.

Yeah, I dont think its a coincidence hes never been a starter with any other team. Hes not good. You cant dress up this turkey. You might not hear from him again to be honest with you...certainly not as a household name.
Ben, Rudy, Mitch, Pickett, Fields, Wilson, and now Rodgers have stunk. At some point maybe you will realize it's not the QB. I thought pickett acted like a baby with the Wilson signing, but other than that he has not been given a chance which is more circumstance than anything. I know if i was a raider fan I would be asking to see what pickett has at least. Geno may be the worst qb in the league this year.

They act like Gainwell is Marshal Faulk or something. They're more concerned with getting touches for Gainwell than drawing up plays for DK or Warren.

Just trade Warren in the offseason. It's obvious Tomlin refuses to use him as a RB1 so just trade him and go with Kaleb and gainwell. Maybe if gainwell was RB 1, they'd sign Mostert and give him more carries than gainwell.

Bears were able to coach up their 2nd string LBs to play a great game. If the steelers were down a few ILBs, their replacements would probably run into each other on half the plays

Is it the OC or is Tomlin the parking break on the offense?

Mike 100% without a sliver of doubt.

Tomlin didn't address why he didn't try a FG. "I'm not into the hypothetical world."
If the O hadn't F'd up and taken that illegal formation penalty.
The odds of Boz making a 70 yard FG are better than the odds of the O making a critical first down.

When they are below par Qbs yeah, I believe its the QBs. You're talking about a past prime ben, Wilson, and Rodgers and Rudy, Pickett, Fields, and Mitch. There's not a coach in.the league thats been able to do anything of significance with a past prime Wilson or Rodgers. We already know about Fields, Mitch, Pickett and Rudy outside of Pittsburgh. Check in when at minimum he gets a Qb with the caliber of at least Mayfield.

Rudolph is just not a good QB. He doesn't belong on the roster. Especially when you have Skylar Thompson who is as good if not better!

Yeah, amazing how Ben circa 2021 looks like Rudolph who looks like Duck who looks like Kenny who looks like Wilson who looks like Rodgers who looks like Rudolph II.

If only we could find some constant to the incompetence. If only ...

Poor Mike. Poor, poor Mike. Always stuck with some lousy QB, no fault of his own. I mean he has no say in who is on the roster, and I mean none at all.

Dude is a victim. He should file one of those claims for victim reimbursement with the state of Pennsylvania.

I recommend that you all just go back to a thread a few weeks ago, or years ago, etc., cut and paste the conversation there, and put it in this thread.

It's way past time for a coaching change.

We've been having this same conversation about the exact same **** over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...and nothing ever changes.

It's fatally flawed every year before they play one single game.

If you could only blame just one thing for this year’s disappointment it’s not the QB, it’s not the offense, it’s not the coaching.
It’s the D.
We score enough points.
An above average D overcomes the other shortcomings and I think we’d be in command of this division.
The highest paid D is awful.

Is it the OC or is Tomlin the parking [brake] on the offense?

Oh, it's definitely not the fault of Captain No Losing Season!! The fault belongs to Bruce Arians, I mean Todd Haley, uhh actually Randy Fichtner, no Matt Canada, I mean Eddie Faulkner and Mike Sullivan, I mean Arthur Smith!!

Just get rid of those seven guys and watch this offense explode!

Outside of Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts I dont know of any QB draftees that were passed upon where you can honestly say "what stopped this move from happening?" And dont say Purdy because no one was looking at him. The only other guy I can think of is Jaxson Dart, but thats predicated on what everyone thinks of Harmon so far. In my opinion they may have screwed the pooch with not getting Jaxson. I think Harmon has played decent...certainly not a bust, but not better than Jaxson Dart imo.

So i wouldn't say he's a victim just yet. I need to know what was going on with the first rd draft selection and who all their options were in 2018 and also 2020 when Hurts was sitting there in.the 2nd Rd. When you look at kwho they chose instead of those two it magnifies the error of not picking up one of those two. Assuming Lamar never came up as an option or Hurts in 2020 then he's deserved everything that has come his way regarding the QB position if Lamar or Hurts wasnt a priority or considerable options in 2018 and 2020.

this team has absolutely zero aggression. none.
our only aggressive player on defense was Elliott. On offense, it's Warren - and we do not feature him enough.

All of that starts at the top - with a complacent head coach secure in his alleged legacy.

The roster is very talented, but not what they once were.

TJ's still TJ, but isn't going to get any better as he ages. And he's 31, on the downslide of his excellent career. Unfortunately, that looks like another Steelers career that will not have a Lombardi Trophy to go along with it.

Cam's along for the paycheck at this point, but was showing signs of slowing down for the previous season(s) depending on what you looked for.

Those two are the heartbeat and soul of our defense, and they come up invisible too often when a play is needed.

Who's our next best defender? Queen? Did he play today? Highsmith? Can't make plays from the hot tub. Porter? a virtual PI machine. Jalen Ramsey's made a very fine move to safety and is aggressive, but ...

On offense, we're entirely dependent upon Aaron bailing us out. This game proved it. How many times did we throw over the middle? DK is good, but he's not as good as I'd imagined. Certainly not as good as his paycheck says he should be when he gets outmuscled by smaller CBs.

The OL is decently good and is showing signs of trending upward... but we need a better OL coach. Which, we know isn't going to happen. Status quo next year.

This team is going nowhere. Nor will next year's. Nor will any future team until the guy at the top of this pile decides to put his goddamned shades aside, roll up his sleeves and get tenacious.

Judging by his career thus far, that isn't going to happen.
TJ will be lucky to win a single playoff game here let that sink in.

As we approach 8 o’clock MST, I am growing increasingly concerned that we have not acknowledged that we own what happened today and that we will be better not because we need to be but because we have to be. It’s going to be a long, sleepless night.

I have no desire to look for the exact quote, but several years ago, Tomlin said using the middle of the field is a disaster for INT's/turnovers.
Terry Bradshaw, John Stallworth and Lynn Swann beg to differ. Those bombs down the middle in multiple superbowls made the difference.

This silly sideline and short passing game only is retarded.

Whatever they're doing in practice isn't making them any better and there's just no timing to any of it.

It's becoming ridiculous to watch almost every single week just how wide open opposing teams receivers are.

Please tell me about the awesomeness that is Tomlin between our loss to the Packers in the SB until whenever you feel the end of Ben’s prime is. And pretty please focus on those FIVE years of Ben/Bell/Brown, with a D always in the top half of the league.
Once you’re done dazzling me with those excuse years for Mediocre Mike, could you please illustrate for me his expansive coaching tree and ALL the coordinators he gave a start to?

Oh yeah? Bet you didn't know that Matt Canada's pee-wee team has never had a losing season!!

I only need to talk about 2018 and beyond. You can go and read on your own what I said about his time with the Killer Bs. Im not repeating it but neither you nor anybody else has any legitimate argument against what I said and oh yeah I also mentioned the defenses they played with which the only one of significance was the 2017 one. All the other defenses were outside top 10. 2018 is irrelevant since that was the end of the Killer Bs.

As far as not having a coaching tree im not sure whats that supposed to prove. Belichek, arguably the best Coach of all time had several coordinators go on to NFL head coaching positions and they all failed.
