Initial Thoughts bears Game

Howard is not getting reps in practice. A handful at most being behind Rodgers and Rudolph. He’s just come off IR a few weeks ago, he’s not getting reps, and putting him in today would have done nothing but set him up for failure. He’s not ready.

Now if he gets a week or two taking reps with the 1’s or the 2’s, maybe. But 3rd string QB’s don’t typically get many physical practice reps. And if you put him in without those reps, you are not going to know what you have. He’s not going to succeed that way.

I’d like to see Howard too, but until he’s ready, no. They’ll ruin him just like they did Kenny Pickett. I don’t want this coaching staff anywhere near involved in developing any rookie, least of all the QB.
If he isn’t getting the reps whose fault is that? Truth be told neither of us knows just how ready the kid is.

I will tell you what I do know he has a reputation of being a diligent study and even helped AR in camp.

For me I think the kid is doing everything in his power to be ready.

We can agree to disagree I want to see what the kid has. I am sure many would have thought Purdy wasn’t ready when he showed promise…

This is what needs to be talked about because 2 years ago....Matt Canada was to blame for this type of passing chart.....week in, week out! Matt Canada is NOT here anymore....so who is to blame?
Can’t be mediocre Mike’s schemes never that!

Purdy is also in a QB friendly system. Hell, Mac Jones looked good in that system. It’s not a great comparison when you consider the Steelers system and the carcasses of QB’s it’s left in its wake.

If you removed your tongue from Mike Tomlin's ball sack you might be able to see that this team has sucked for 10 years even with two HOF QB's - Roethlisberger and Rodgers - and the only constant through that miserable stinkage has been your testicle-pop.
Ill acknowledge HOF QB play if they play like HOFs. Now its your turn to point out a game where Rodgers played like a HOF QB outside of the first game of the season since you want to be stupid enough to stoop to that level. I mean he went to two SBs with Ben so clearly he wasnt all that bad with him and before your dumb goofy azz decide you want to counter that argument make sure you consult Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen first before you allow another comment to trickle out that rabid azz brain of yours. In other words he's done about as much as other coaches have done with their HOF qbs.

Exactly a good scheme. That only makes me want to see Mike less not Will though. Will is mobile so that is another positive he could bring. Hell even if they would have had him in there to tush push on short down that would have been better than to see AR and Rudy stick their thumbs up their arses.

My want is purely to see the kid… just like you got to see Sanders who hasn’t had a lot of reps. No different for my want…

The NFL is RIGGED! Just like all sports.....$$$$$ Mafia controls it all!
You may be correct there Chicoman, why did CBS flash a score of 9-7 Steelers before the sack of William's in the endzone...and why was William's seemingly waiting for someone to sack him? Bad acting at its finest.

Seriously, any other team would eat this area alive with the entire linebacking unit out today, especially when all you have to throw to are tight ends and slot receivers.

Is the NFL rigged or our coaches just that dumb?

this team has absolutely zero aggression. none.
our only aggressive player on defense was Elliott. On offense, it's Warren - and we do not feature him enough.

All of that starts at the top - with a complacent head coach secure in his alleged legacy.

The roster is very talented, but not what they once were.

TJ's still TJ, but isn't going to get any better as he ages. And he's 31, on the downslide of his excellent career. Unfortunately, that looks like another Steelers career that will not have a Lombardi Trophy to go along with it.

Cam's along for the paycheck at this point, but was showing signs of slowing down for the previous season(s) depending on what you looked for.

Those two are the heartbeat and soul of our defense, and they come up invisible too often when a play is needed.

Who's our next best defender? Queen? Did he play today? Highsmith? Can't make plays from the hot tub. Porter? a virtual PI machine. Jalen Ramsey's made a very fine move to safety and is aggressive, but ...

On offense, we're entirely dependent upon Aaron bailing us out. This game proved it. How many times did we throw over the middle? DK is good, but he's not as good as I'd imagined. Certainly not as good as his paycheck says he should be when he gets outmuscled by smaller CBs.

The OL is decently good and is showing signs of trending upward... but we need a better OL coach. Which, we know isn't going to happen. Status quo next year.

This team is going nowhere. Nor will next year's. Nor will any future team until the guy at the top of this pile decides to put his goddamned shades aside, roll up his sleeves and get tenacious.

Judging by his career thus far, that isn't going to happen.

Thank god we don’t play the Raiders this year. It would suck to lose to that pathetic team.
It would be ok as long as you played them in Pittsburgh coming off a loss not too late in the season.

Yeah…..

so no A-aron...hate it but gotta cheer for Rudy

go deep young man

bad start...great defensive play

steerers d starts by getting pushed around the whole way to a TD

rudy lead a safe drive down field for 6...

Warren is running well and gainwell is a nice change of pace

great play call on 4th and short turns Gainwell loose and he almost scores

defense has been up and down in the first half...either turnovers or scoring drives for the bears.......

seems like the early pick has turned the steelers more conservative, nothing down the field on the later 1st half drives

I swear the Steelers drop more pics than any team in history

how do you go to commercial with the bears pinned deep and come back to see the Steelers punting again and no replay of the penalty?????

wow second half offense and defense suck ***

bears stacking the OL...why not throw some ******* balls across the middle...

**** the whole second half same stupid play calling. one ******* drive worth a **** and the rest was bullshit

throw the ball more than 5 yards down field you brainless cocksuckers

**** rudy **** the defense **** this ****** coaching staff
Another game that was PoOp.

We can still win 3 more games for the non-losing Tomlinship Season though.

Tomlin seemed to blame Danny Smith in some of his comments lol.....I doubt Danny choose the punter.....

Cam and TJ are all-time Steelers players, but both are about to go down without a signature win or play in their entire careers. I suppose Cam has a playoff win, but that game will be remembered for Joey Porter making a bigger contribution to the win than Heyward.

Are you serious with this "they ruined Kenny Pickett" spiel?? You cant ruin something that was never good to begin with. If he had any semblance of starting QB DNA in his genes at all then why hasnt he started for any of the other 3 teams hes played for?? He was one of their worst 1st rd picks ever...prob top 5-10 easily mainly because they should have never made the pick to begin with.

Pickett is 15-10 as a starter with mostly Canada as a OC. He went to the Eagles who obviously already had a starter. The Browns browned and had a total QB mess. He may have started if he didn't get hurt during preseason. The raiders paid Geno 75 million dollars, but should give Pickett a chance. Pickett was one of the highest rated 4th quarter QBs and had several 4th Q comebacks. The line was also terrible and for a young QB that is one of the worst things you can have. Tomlin has made every QB look bad since prime Ben. I don't think that is coincidence.

He definitely bombed. I knew his concerns I just thought he could overcome them. I was wrong on that pick. Probably was wishful thinking with my approach to want better QB play…

No, think it might have been worse as Mason avoided at least one sack Rodgers would not have.
Disagree. Rodgers can make every throw. The problems with him start when the O-line doesn't hold up, they held up today.
Mason is timid.

I will add one more little tidbit to this discussion. And this has pissed me off all season. And last season. And probably the one before that too. Why the hell can we not have a fast KO and PR ? Is this some type of joke? Someone you describe as “Electric “ I know they don’t grow on trees, but come on now. Why don’t they try Roman Wilson. Not like they throw over two passes to him. He returned some at Michigan. Maybe it’s a way to get him involved. Create some confidence. Let’s see what the hell he’s got. He had lots of YAC in Michigan. So he must have some type of instinct. Switch it up Mike!

Yeah, I dont think its a coincidence hes never been a starter with any other team. Hes not good. You cant dress up this turkey. You might not hear from him again to be honest with you...certainly not as a household name.

Can he make every throw accurately? Can he do it without living in his fears? At times it feels like the man is scared of getting hurt now…

He is who he is, a poor man’s O’Donnell. If Rodgers misses more time, start Howard and see what you have.
LOL...Did you watch Neil play? He was far, far, better than Mason will ever be. And on super run heavy teams.

The last two games he was in the O-line has played really bad. Remember what he looked like before that?
He could have decided to mail it in I'm not going to argue against that, but per the Steelers grapevine he was arguing to get back in the Cincy game. I guess we'll find out here soon.
