If Tomlin was fired, here's who we could get. Give us your top 5 names,

First off, our offense has MORE talent than New England's. Hooide hired McDaniels. Tomlin hired Todd Haley. How long does it take you to choose between the two?

Secondarily, a good OC is not calling a 4th, and one wide run vs. a fast defense, nor is a good head coach going to give them field position on a very early onside kick. The coaching is a disgrace.

Lastly. Cowher beat Hoodie in the playoffs. You don't know what Cowher would do if Mr. Rooney were on the line asking him to lead the team back to the super bowl. A 13-3 team with cap space and Ben for three more years?!. Perhaps too much to refuse. Not to mention it would take Gruden like money ( 10 million a season ) . In my life experiences, what people say can quickly be contradicted once enough money is involved.

Yeah McDaniel, the genius who drafted Tim Tebow.

I'd stop watching the Steelers until they were gone.

I'm ready for McDaniels. Time to fire Tomlin IMO, he's a doofus.

If we absolutely positively have to have a minority coach to satisfy the Rooney's affirmative action rule then drive a dump truck full of money up to Tony Dungy's front door.

The guy that beat us in the playoffs. Yeah that guy.

Yeah, 8-8 team that beat us in the playoffs when a starting defensive back couldn't play in the thin air environment.

He followed that up by going 3-9 before getting fired in year 2 for a career head coaching winning percentage of 39%. That would fly here.

Bellicheks disciples track record are awful as head coaches.

McDaniel. 11-17 (39%)
Weiss. 41-49 (46%) (NCAA)
Mangini. 33-47 (41%)
Crennell. 28-55 (33.7%)
O'Brien 31-33 (48%)

For some reason, the "patriot way doesn't work outside of New England.

Can't take that bs cheating system with you. I wonder if Kraft pays for that extra ref help? I'd love to be a fly on the wall in that org.

don't want anything coming from that * organization. Maybe the deflator guy but just to kick him in the nuts, that would be his job: to get his balls deflated with a boswell kick every sunday prior to the game.

I've understood the Tomlin heat for a while now.
It was the same for Cowher when he wasn't winning SBs every year.

But I'm missing the rationale of the pitchforks and torches for Haley and not for Butler.
Can we all turn back the clocks to the time before Haley when Ben was getting treated like David Carr and getting car killed every third drop back?!
This "terribly ran" offense hung 42 on the #2 defense this year.

But it was our defense that let Blake Bortles and the Jax offense dump 45 on it.
If we were all told that the Steelers would hang 42 points on the Jags before the game, we all would have run to our closet bookie and bet the house.
Losing Shazier hurt, obviously, but it shouldn't have hurt THAT much.

This loss is squarely on Butler/Tomlin and our defensive players.....so if you want to include our scouts and director of player personnel, them too.
But Haley, our offense, anything involving that side of the ball is the best it's been in decades.
We obviously have zero problem putting points on the board.

Look, I've been a pretty ardent supporter of The Rooney Way of continuity and not giving up on someone quickly and not having knee jerk reactions.
BUT, I think the Rooneys have to sit Tomlin down and explain to him that his leash just got REAL short and that Tomlin needs to take back control of the asylum from the inmates and get a better understanding of game situational coaching and half time adjustments because Tomlin is lacking severely in those particular aspects.

Tomlin could be in some trouble.

The longer the silence from Art Rooney, the higher the chance for a change. At least for this week. My best guess is Tomlin will escape to coach the Steelers next year, but at least he'll be on a much shorter leash. I'd put the odds of him running the show for the 2018 season to be 70%. For once I'd love to be wrong. Fire him!

We are so close to a lwoB repuS, it's a terrible shame coaching, and culture created and managed by Tomlin hamstrings the team.

Lol. 70%. Comic gold right there. Thanks for your insight of the Rooney's thinking. Gave a nice chuckle. Honestly I'm surprised you didn't use this great insight to start a new thread.

More likely "Rooney's silence" on Tomlin is because he's not even entertaining the possibility of Tomlin's tenure being in jeopardy.

I thought Tomlin was in the right path and then the Divisional game comes, the team goes out with Zero, literally Zero energy and urge and get itself in a hole so deep that half the board changed the channel, later the O comes back and makes it a game... and then the cherry on the top: the onside kick is called. "WTF???" that's what I was thinking during the next hour.

Tomlin **** the bed in a playoff game, he has regressed, again.

Seems some fans would rather support Tomlin than the team as a whole.

And here's the thing, many of you Tomlin supporters keep whining "Well who would you replace him with?" So Coach gave you five names. Are you debating the merits of the five? NOPE! Just whining that people dare to question Cool Shades.

\/\/\/\/ debating the 5s merits

1. Cowher is a New Yorker now. Wife is in music business.....completely satisfied where he is at.

2.McDaniels? He didn't make to his contract at his first head coaching job in Denver.....crawled back to cheatville where he wasn't beaten up by the press.

3. Todd Walsh...what's his history prior to this year?

4. Joe Woods.....OMG, "impressive work in 2004-2005".....that was 12 years ago....why don't we go back further? Hey we need a new OC, Chan Gailey anyone? Joe Walton maybe? Classic post Coach, classic.

5. Shurmur may be NY or Tennessee's HC, Shefter....mentioned DET too for Stafford.

When is you next post about the crappy players? Justin needs to get some sound effects going for your ego soothe.

Everyone is talking about underachieving, when 2017 is the first year we have had a decent defense in awhile.
Last year we had 2 rookies starting and Ross Cockrell as a starting CB. We turned out to have a decent team last
year, but we didn't start the year as a Super Bowl contender. They need to concentrate on improving the Defense
and next year evaluate the DC. Leading the league in sacks wasn't a bad accomplishment in 2017.

We would have beaten the Jags without the 2 turnovers, so even though the defense didn't play a good game, it
was good enough to win the game without the turnovers.

Yes giving up 38 points to Blake Bortles is good enough. You can't make this **** up. Our defense was **** for most of the year, Boswell and the offense made this a 13 win team.

We all know Tomlin isn’t going anywhere but....

I can at least dream. If you could pick someone who would it be?

I’m interested in Mike Vrabel. As a player and coach he always seemed pretty intelligent. He has a strong defensive background and is a three time champion. He could come back to where he started.

**** that ****. First off don't bring anybody associated with the ******* cheaters into this organization. Secondly, what makes you think he is a GREAT coach??? Try to be very specific as to his credentials................

Salute the nation

You've got to be kidding me.

Bill Cowher would be the only coach I would want to replace Tomlin!

He did alot more with alot less talent on the roster back when he was coaching.

Anyone who can get us the AFCCG four seasons with QB's like Neil O'Donnell, Mike Tomczak & Kordell Stewart and a lackluster receiving corps should be able to deliver a few Lombardi's with this roster!

Problem is it was a different era in the 90's so you didn't need a top 10 QB to succeed (clearly). Not sure how's Bill's philosophies would hold up in today's game. We all know the game is passing LeBeau's defense by, I have a feeling Bill is in the same boat and got out before it was apparent.
