Bell takes a practice off during a playoff week. Brown does his diva thing. Pouncey tweets about his health ( while recovering from injury ) on social media.
Does any other NFL team have this many diva stars? Its a reflection on Tomlin and the tolerance culture he has created.
Players see what's going on here, and I'm 100% sure some of them are still upset about Tomlin asking for team unity to stay in the locker room for the national anthem, forcing many to choose between staying inside against their will or pleasing their boss.
Wake up!!! What's next you're going to endorse that stupid onside kick with 2+ minutes left and two times outs?
God...it's like talking to a 10 year old. My discussion with Steeler Pride was about the ownership group. Not the constant bickering about how everything you dislike about the players, coaches, scheme, whatever. Take your Ritalin, take reading comprehension lessons and stay on topic. Then again you will just start another thread about the same thing and take credit for it.
As for your comments about what the players "see". As usual you take privy in assuming you know everything.
All teams have their Divas. It's the sport that is dominated by it. Primarily by skill position players. Some are worse than others. Society has allowed it. Social Media encourages it. And unfortunately it isn't going away. I think Tomlin knows this and tries to get some balance, obviously he hasn't achieved it yet. But what coach has? Belicheck has a gag order in his players.....I haven't noticed to many videos from Harrison since he joined, but you better believe the next CBA will allow it unimpeded, because it's the only way players can sell "their brand" without endorsements.
The anthem incident, I blame the players and circumstance. Tomlin said he didn't care what they did, as long as it was unanimous with 100% participation. They captains decided on 3 choices, stand, or mix of kneel and stand with arms interlocked. They couldn't get a consensus, so the PLAYERS, not Tomlin, decided to wait in the tunnel. Tomlin wanted the team together in any decision that was made by the players. Now, Al asked the captains if he could be up near the front so he could see the colors. They approved and he went ahead of everyone else, but because of the pregame field assembly chaos, the other players were stuck behind, and to not disrespect the flag, neither the players or Al moved during the anthem. So you had a media moment that the NFL allowed everyone to see Al as it was. No different from broadcasters not showing fans on the field or fighting, but NFL allowed the network to broadcast it live.
I didn't agree with the onside kick. I thought kicking off and playing the percentages with the defense, as poorly as they were playing was the call. But I'm not the coach, nor did I know the feeling on the sideline then. Obviously Tomlin had no confidence in the D. But don't kid yourself, had Boz not flubbed that kick and we somehow miraculously recovered, it would have been a lauded "coaching decision". Even if we didn't score.
