If Tomlin was fired, here's who we could get. Give us your top 5 names,

Other than a truck full, make that 2 trucks full of money, why would Cowher even think about this?
He's got a pretty cushy situation at the moment.

And I'm OK, not that it matters, with Tomlin staying. I can't for the live of me figure why Butler still has a job. He is a bigger problem than Haley was in my opinion.

Bill Cowher would be the only coach I would want to replace Tomlin!

He did alot more with alot less talent on the roster back when he was coaching.

Anyone who can get us the AFCCG four seasons with QB's like Neil O'Donnell, Mike Tomczak & Kordell Stewart and a lackluster receiving corps should be able to deliver a few Lombardi's with this roster!

Cowher was on the local radio today in South Florida ( 560 AM station ) and they asked him there are 5 open coaching spots, do you want any of them. He was coy and did not say Yes or No.

He also said he wasn't surprised Gruden came back and explained there are times for everything.

Put a 3 year 28 million dollar contract with a loaded team and a chance to put himself into the hall of fame should be win a lwoB repuS, and I do not think he declines the offer. Maybe Rooney won't pony up but perhaps these minority owners might. Remember the coaches are NOT part of the salary cap.

Butler was probably given a pass with Shazier being absent. He was the backbone of our defense and to lose him when we did, we never were able to fill the void. We got exploited over and over in many games.

Haley was let go cause his contract had expired, but he was also the scapegoat. I for one am on the record for supporting him being let go. Im ready for the Fitchner era to begin.

Now, its time we sort out this defense and work to fill that Shazier void.

Not that anything is going to happen to Tomlin but what about Rex Ryan. He usually has a good defense. His problem has always been no offense. Two conditions - 1) Can't hire his brother Rob. 2) Stay out of the way of our offense. His circus act wears thin after 2 or 3 years, but that's all our window is anyway.

Everyone is talking about underachieving, when 2017 is the first year we have had a decent defense in awhile.
Last year we had 2 rookies starting and Ross Cockrell as a starting CB. We turned out to have a decent team last
year, but we didn't start the year as a Super Bowl contender. They need to concentrate on improving the Defense
and next year evaluate the DC. Leading the league in sacks wasn't a bad accomplishment in 2017.

We would have beaten the Jags without the 2 turnovers, so even though the defense didn't play a good game, it
was good enough to win the game without the turnovers.

This may be the dumbest mindset from this game... the offense scores 42 points... 42... it gives up 14 on turnovers... the defense gives the offense zero turnovers ... it allows 31 points... a defense that allows 31 points off of mostly long fields is not doing things well...

Way too much talk about the turnovers and failed fourth-down conversions. We all would have liked to see those things not happen, but the offense overcame those mistakes to put 42 points on the board. The defense did nothing to help out the offense. No way can you allow Jacksonville with Blake Bortles to score 38 points at your house.

What part of the definition of Limited Partner do you not understand? They have no input on the business operations. They only receive the profit from the shares they own.

I have been a Steelers fan for 50 years gave Tomlin every chance to prove he can get the job done he fails to do so and if it was not for coach Cower he would not have a ring really showed his coaching skills off with that onside kick BS!

When limited partners make up over 40% of the ownership stake in the team, if they collectively want to see change you can bet your *** the Rooney's are going to have to listen. Right, wrong, or indifferent, it is common sense business. If the 40% decide to sell their shares, that would be a HUGE hit on the Rooney family as they would either need to find others to buy those shares or come up out of pocket to buy them out. Limited partners are far from invisible in any company.

Tomlin will be here forever ... but if he were to go... Bill Cowher or Mike Munchak

I never said LP's are invisible. They have no say over the business operations of the shares they own. That's part of being a LP. If they don't like what they see they can sell them. There are others, PLENTY of other investors who would gladly purchase those shares.

Unless a general partnership is entered, which won't happen because Art 2 has controlling interest, no other shareholder has any input into how the team business is handled.

You saved me some time helping Ike out.

Bad coaching on the field is one thing. Having a key player miss your meeting ( Bell ) is another. The players do not respect Tomlin. This does not happen to other teams in the playoffs.

I hope the limited partners and players press Art Rooney to get a better coach, who keeps the sulky type of player in line.

40% = 400,000,000...all kinds of people have that kind of money just sitting around.

When Ben retires and we can only muster 4-7 wins a year the Rooneys may take action against our current head coach.

Thank God for the State of Ohio...LOL

Hilarious Coach, if I needed your type of help...Wikipedia and mainstream media is available. No thank you, I prefer common sense and realistic ideologies.

You're not paying attention! I'll give you a little help without checking wiki

Bell takes a practice off during a playoff week. Brown does his diva thing. Pouncey tweets about his health ( while recovering from injury ) on social media.

Does any other NFL team have this many diva stars? Its a reflection on Tomlin and the tolerance culture he has created.

Players see what's going on here, and I'm 100% sure some of them are still upset about Tomlin asking for team unity to stay in the locker room for the national anthem, forcing many to choose between staying inside against their will or pleasing their boss.

Wake up!!! What's next you're going to endorse that stupid onside kick with 2+ minutes left and two times outs?

How many LPs were mentioned in Florios article? Half dozen or so?. I know Tull is on there, Stallworth, Citrone. Fact is there are about 20 in the ownership group, four are Rooneys, Art 2 has controlling interest now, Dan Rooney's is in trust, most likely to be divided amongst his sons, brother Art Jr. and Mr McGinley. They are the principal partners of this ownership group. Tull, Stallworth and the others are LPs. Other than the principles Tull has purchased more shares, but still is a LP. He has been on record stating Art 2 is the one to run the football business, Mr. McGinley whose father went in with the Chief in ownership in the past has publicly stated Art 2 runs the football operations, no question. Amongst the remaining partners, I'm sure the remaining shares can be available. Tull himself sold Legendary for $ 2 billion IIRC. So there are investors out there who have the capacity.

People cry and complain about a topic that may or may not happen.

Here's the thing: the Rooneys make the decisions. I've respect the way they operate; not quick to fly off the handle.

However- they truly need to look at their organization. Tomlin seems to be a nice guy; a personable guy. But he's NOT a head coach

He does not prepare his team for any big game. The Steelers win during the regular season because of pure talent. However, to win in the post season, you have to have a leader that game plans and prepares for your opponent. Time and time again Tomlin has failed.
Belicheck wins ---- period. He gets his teams ready to play any opponent. I believe everyone will agree the Steelers have better talent yet the Patriots and others out play us.

Please don't talk about the regular season--- the Steelers are too talented to lose too many games to miss the playoffs... but they don't win when it counts.

Tomlin's Superbowl win was from the Cowher era. A miraculous play by Ben and to Holmes won the game.

Ever since; he has had one of the most talented teams and fail. Tomlin's era will go down as a big disappointment. Great teams who underperformed.

I love the Steelers. But I have come to the realization that we will not win another Superbowl while Tomlin is the coach.

People can disagree; but the facts are the facts and time will prove these statements to be accurate.

God...it's like talking to a 10 year old. My discussion with Steeler Pride was about the ownership group. Not the constant bickering about how everything you dislike about the players, coaches, scheme, whatever. Take your Ritalin, take reading comprehension lessons and stay on topic. Then again you will just start another thread about the same thing and take credit for it.

As for your comments about what the players "see". As usual you take privy in assuming you know everything.

All teams have their Divas. It's the sport that is dominated by it. Primarily by skill position players. Some are worse than others. Society has allowed it. Social Media encourages it. And unfortunately it isn't going away. I think Tomlin knows this and tries to get some balance, obviously he hasn't achieved it yet. But what coach has? Belicheck has a gag order in his players.....I haven't noticed to many videos from Harrison since he joined, but you better believe the next CBA will allow it unimpeded, because it's the only way players can sell "their brand" without endorsements.

The anthem incident, I blame the players and circumstance. Tomlin said he didn't care what they did, as long as it was unanimous with 100% participation. They captains decided on 3 choices, stand, or mix of kneel and stand with arms interlocked. They couldn't get a consensus, so the PLAYERS, not Tomlin, decided to wait in the tunnel. Tomlin wanted the team together in any decision that was made by the players. Now, Al asked the captains if he could be up near the front so he could see the colors. They approved and he went ahead of everyone else, but because of the pregame field assembly chaos, the other players were stuck behind, and to not disrespect the flag, neither the players or Al moved during the anthem. So you had a media moment that the NFL allowed everyone to see Al as it was. No different from broadcasters not showing fans on the field or fighting, but NFL allowed the network to broadcast it live.

I didn't agree with the onside kick. I thought kicking off and playing the percentages with the defense, as poorly as they were playing was the call. But I'm not the coach, nor did I know the feeling on the sideline then. Obviously Tomlin had no confidence in the D. But don't kid yourself, had Boz not flubbed that kick and we somehow miraculously recovered, it would have been a lauded "coaching decision". Even if we didn't score.

Cowher beat Hoodie in the Playoffs ...WITH DREW BLEDSOE at QB.....hes beaten Hoodie 5 times, but once with Brady at QB. Come on man..........

Again...for the 15,478th time. Cowher aint comin back. EVER. Not to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Carolina or NY. Coughlin, Parcells, Schottenheimer, Mike Shanahan, Holmgren and Dungy are never coming back. Gruden should have stuck his *** in the booth. But the Raiders gon' do what the Raiders do.

Just to present the whole picture, care to confirm who was the Steelers QB when they beat the Patriots with Bledsoe?

That's definitely not the point. They also got their wheels blown off against the Patriots four of the next five match-ups, while fielding the #1 defense a couple times, having a lethal rushing attack, and having Ben at qb for another. Lest we forget that two of those match-ups were at home in the AFCCG as pretty big favorites. In '98, the Patriots weren't the Patriots team of now.

Yeah, he's underachieved, the team has underachieved. But I see the issues multi-faceted, not a root derivative of the fact Mike Tomlin is the head coach.

Tomlin is the head coach, not a member of the chain gang. He therefore has a hell of a lot to do with the team's preparation, game planning, in-game revisions, halftime adjustments, etc. And as far as I am concerned, a coach is judged on whether the team did as well as could be expected (or better), or instead failed to live up to reasonable expectations.

Tomlin is in the latter camp.

Not sure what other head coach would have gotten us over the hump, with these same coordinators and coaches in place.

Who exactly was Doug Pederson before 2016? He took a team that was 7-9 in 2015 to the NFC Championship game, with a back-up QB the last 3 regular season games and the playoffs.

This idea that good coaches are as rare as a unicorn is ridiculous. Very good coaches are out there. Chuck Noll was out there, Bill Cowher was out there, Doug Pederson was out there. The fact that a new coach is not guaranteed to be superb simply operates to lock in the Steelers with mediocrity in the form of Mike Tomlin.

Is Tomlin terrible? No. Is he a coach who gets the most out of his team? No. Is he a coach that loses waaaaaay too many games he should win? Yes. Is he a coach who can take a really good team and have them excel, circa Cowher in 2005? No, he is not. He is the ultimate "game manager" as a coach. If things fall favorably for him, he does fine. If **** starts hitting the fan, he simply stares at the fan and hopes for a power outage.
