I did first pick with one trade with NE.
RD1(NE)- Leighton Vander Esch ILB Boise St.
Vander Esch seems to be a well rounded ILB. He has good speed, size, hips, and is very instinctual. He can blitz, cover, and sniff out the run. The reason I think he’d be around later in the 1st round is his level of competition. But you could say his two best games came at the end of the season vs his two toughest opponents. Vs Fresno and Oregon he accumulated 28 tackles, 20 solo, 1 sack, 1 int, and 1 pass deflection.
RD2(NE)- Harold Landry OLB BC
Watt looks like a keeper but decisions have to be made on Chick and Dupree. Landry gives the Steelers a third option. Maybe they option Bud and see what Landry can do. Or long term but reasonable sign Chickillo with Landry able to work his way up to starter. Landry has a great burst and nice dip move. Keeps his hands active. Reminds me of a taller Debo.
RD2(NE)- Ron Jones II RB USC
Are you sick of the Leveon Bell saga yet? I am. Tag him and run the wheels off. Next year we have Connor and RJ2 to compete. RJ2 is a home run hitter. Elite speed and once he hits that second gear, good bye. Decent pass protection. Only concerns are he didn’t catch a lot of passes surprisingly and if he can stand up to the NFL pounding.
RD5- Terrell Edmunds LB/SS VT
Trumaine gets all the hype but I like the film I saw of Terrell playing river at VT. I think in sub packages using him as an ILB or Safety would be very cool. Edmunds is quick, good hands, loose hips, aggressive tackler. He’s just a tweener but if you use him in those formations where we missed Shazier and get VW off the field I think it’s a win for us.
RD5b- Tyler Conklin TE Central Michigan
Conklin is a former basketball player and his soft hands and body positioning shows it. Foot injury slowed him down but if he is fully healed could be a steal this late.
RD7- Quadree Henderson WR/returner Pitt
Henderson is an elite return man whom instantly gets AB off the field. Rogers is about 95% to be out on IR for at least most the next season. This leaves AB, JuJu, and Bryant as our top 3. Lets say they keep DHB as a special teamer that leaves Justin Hunter and Henderson fighting it out at #5. Henderson needs to work on his route tree but if they figure him to be a return man and slot guy he just needs to master a slant, drag, out/dig.
RD7b- David Bright OT Stanford
Bright has munch written all over his. Athletic, smart, and can play all 5 spots on the line. Our new Chris Hubbard.
