LOL. Shut the door. you win.

If he manages to void this contract and end up in a better situation, the league is in big trouble. He seems to be providing the blueprint for other petulant players. If he infact threatened the GM with violence and is fired because of it, the league should sit him down indefintely.

If his contract is void, he gets no money from the Raiders including the 30mil signing bonus. I highly doubt the next team would say, "hey, we'll give you 40mil signing bonus."
I don't see how he could end up in a better situation. Thing being said, he isn't going to change.

Indeed, if he threatened to punch Mayock in the face - evidently in front of plenty of witnesses - you would think the league would step in and dole out their own punishment. I'm pretty sure there's a passage in the collective bargaining agreement re player conduct that would address physically threatening a team's coach or GM like that.

I heard through vine you were bitching about this, and though not surprised given it’s you we’re talking about....

This logic is as far of the reservation as AB is.

Sent from my iPhone using Steeler Nation mobile app

It’s completely logical. People are arguing that AB had no value and the steelers were smart to take what they could get. The fact Buffalo offered a 1 proves that wasn’t true.

AB is a greedy, me first guy. It is not at all far fetched to think that if the steelers had worked with AB and his agent on setting up a trade, In other words, giving AB everything he wanted, that AB would have cooperated.

Trading AB was right. I give the steelers credit for recognizing he had to go. But that does not mean they made a good deal on the trade itself.

If you buy that a 3rd rounder was the best the steelers could have gotten for AB then fine. I strongly disagree especially when you see Houston give TWO 1st round picks for Laremy Tunsil.

Raj need to step in, fire AB and mark him ineligible for rehire in the league.
Give the Steelers 20M back in cap space.
Award the Raiders a 3 and 6 compensatory picks.
sue AB for every penny they can recoup.

won't happen though until Daddy Kraft tells Raj to do it.

So question. If they cut AB would you welcome him back if the Steelers could get him reasonably priced and no or little guaranteed money?

No. And he would never come back IMO. Too many bridges burned.

I still think this was a good deal for the Raiders. They gave up very little to get AB. Yes, they gave him a new contract but they had plenty of money so even if AB is a total bust after a season and they decide to cut him, it won’t kill their cap.

Regardless, that’s 30 million plus his first year’s salary they could have spent on other players.

If they cut him, many teams will still take him. BUT, I doubt they give him a huge contract with all the guarantees. He'll have to earn the contract with incentives. That will piss him off. CTE or not, all he cares about is his money and his stats. He doesn't care about a SB ring like most players seem to. Dude is completely unhinged. I personally hope they suspend him for at least 3 and possibly 6 games and hold onto him for this year. He will literally go bat **** crazier than he already is while is suspended.

You would think it would be automatic termination. I know that in every other line of work it would be.

That’d just be another incentive for teams to take risks on troubled but talented players.

Since we know baby AB lives his life through social media, looks like ****'s getting real.

Sounds like Mayock may have put his foot down. Don't blame him one bit after the physical threat.

so you see where the Steelers were asking for not only a first round pick but a high first round pick. Thus, Buffalo offered their high first round pick. Deal was made, it was agreed to and **** was processing or starting to process at the NFL Offices.

Then Rosenhaus wakes AB up, he throws furniture, goes on a social media tirade and Buffalo says "hold up"

Now, the commodity value has plummeted tremendously.

As such, the Steelers were trying to salvage what they could.

Since were talking about 'value'...

How much can I get for my signed AB jersey???:anyone:

Hard to put up good receiving numbers in Buffalo in the second half of the season. AB may be an idiot but he's not stupid.

Kevin Colbert right now, imagining how that trade negotiation could have gone down with AB. ;)

Possibly. But there was no free agent WR anywhere close to AB’s impact. I can’t even think now about the second best WR signed this offseason. Golden Tate maybe?

They really don’t have any veterans on their team that they could use that money to sign to a big deal either. That money likely would have went mostly unspent until next year.

They are in a temporary position where they had some disposable income so to speak.

If a team like the Saints traded for AB and gave him big money, it would be a disaster, because the Saints do have some young guys who will need big contracts soon, so spending big on AB could have screwed up their future.

This money paid to AB shouldn’t stop the raiders from making any other moves this year or next. That’s why I don’t think it hurts them even if this blows up on them.

Where the raiders are as a franchise, getting AB was a risk with a downside that isn’t that bad. Think about it. If they cut AB tomorrow, does it set the team back all that much. I don’t think so. But then I wasn’t expecting a big year from them this year even with AB playing at a high level.

i don’t think Carr is that good and the raider defense isn’t that good. With a great AB, I was thinking around 7 wins. Without AB, i’d Be thinking about the same.

Was this the plan all along?

What’s everyone thoughts on if he truly liked Oak and Carr? I think this was the plan from the get go. Get booted and go to a team of his choice. Yeah the **********

Or maybe he is just a dumbfuck

I hope he's home packin'...

I still strongly disagree. The decision to trade AB was correct, nobody disputes that. But the steelers still mishandled the negotiation and didn’t get enough.

If you own a stock that is $100 per share and it drops all the way down to $20 per share a few months later, did you make a good trade if you sold it at $40? No, you may have been right to unload it at 40 but you should have sold it when it was at 90 or 80.

I’ll say it every time. The steelers could have kept AB happy for just a few more weeks by praising him publicly and working with his agent to make a trade happen. AB would have been fully on board with getting traded to Oakland and getting a new contract. All they had to do was kiss AB’s *** a few more weeks and they could have gotten fair value for him.

I disagree. Their was no saving face with AB. Every team knew what was really going on and no team wanted any part of that except maybe a couple teams and even they were hesitant. You can kiss his *** all you want for a couple weeks and his nobody would have still been interested. AB was the one that brought his value down. The Steelers has no choice but cut their losses. A 3rd & 5th and have his contract come off the books next year was as good as it was going to get.

Has anyone considered that maybe Jerry Rice was in AB’s ear to keep him from challenging his records? If AB had continued to play AB type ball at the WR position, he could have ended up owning all of Jerry Rice’s records. Maybe Jerry Rice is smart as a fox.
