College Football Championship Week

Bemuda for two weeks before Bama was behind Notre Dame. Bama played the Iron Bowl and won. But it was competitive. Notre Dame Stomped a mud hole in Stanford. They placed Bama in front........why. They said Bama made a gutsy fourth down in the Iron Bowl. Which makes zero sense cause none should have been needed. Then you watched Bama get taken apart by Georgia. They said Championship games shouldn't effect teams that participate. But it really seemed like it did for BYU. They are out. I think at this point of the season ND would beat Alabama by double digits on any field. Alabama like the Chiefs have lost their shine. And I know you know it.
"I'll buy a paragraph, Alex, for $600"...

Ok - let's deal with your rant.

I've said it, publicly, that:

1. I don't agree with Coach DeBoer's approach to game planning week in and week out; but I'm not the HC nor am I privy to any insider information.

2. With 3 losses, technically, we should not be in the playoffs, but...SoS is a huge factor and I 100% believe that would change the outcome of any team that could have been inserted in Bama's place (with the same season outcome).

The argument, in college football, has been going on for decades - the SEC has harder games week in and week out during their season because the competition is tougher (this is how you spell 'tougher' - Kentucky). Tape vehemently disagrees... but that's OK.

Here's a bit of proof - Vanderbilt used to be the stepping stone in the SEC for decades. Now, with the NIL, they've sharpened their iron and are becoming a household name in the SEC. So what am I saying?

Notre Dame did get the short end of the stick but they chose not to be in a conference. It's their choice. They set their schedule (they have another cupcake schedule in '26) - join a conference and take the argument away.

I bet they will never join one unless forced. Until then, they'll on the outside looking in...

Cause rankings are subjective... in absolutely no pro sport can you be tied with a team in record and lost head to head and not lose all tiebreakers...

This isn’t pro sports, and that head to head should have been considered long before Sunday.

And for tge record on this topic after the sexlcond week I don't think ND should have been ranked at all. But they were lights out after that.

Then why was Miami ranked 2 spots below ND 5 days earlier? Neither played, Miami jumps them.

The system is a joke.
When BYU lost and fell out of consideration, the situation changed. It came down to either Notre Dame or Miami being the last team in and the first team out. Miami beat Notre Dame head-to-head, so the logical choice was Miami.

Like I said earlier, the problem lies with both JMU and Tulane getting in. In a 12-team playoff, that shouldn't happen unless both of them are undefeated...and that's still pushing it. I like the idea of these lower-echelon teams having a representative in the CFP so they have a big dream to play for, but one is enough.

Just wanted consistency btw the BYU situation and Alabama. There wasn't. Fact.
It's not that simple. First of all, BYU was ranked #11, two spots below Alabama, the prior week. Notre Dame finished at #11 in the final CFP rankings, but still didn't make the field. As we've seen, there is no guarantee to make it in even if you're #11.

BYU beat one ranked team (#15 Utah by 3 at home), and got stomped twice by #4 Texas Tech. Alabama beat #2 Georgia on the road and #14 Vanderbilt by 14, and lost by 2 to #8 Oklahoma.

I don't agree with Alabama making it with three losses, but BYU just didn't do enough, either. Bama split with a top 4 team, BYU got swept.

Penn State retained Terry Smith as the highest paid non coordinator in the nation. He’ll be an assistant head coach and important for recruiting but unclear if he will still coach DBs.

Iowas State’s DB coach is former Steeler Hank Poteat. He may follow Campbell.

Campbell is bringing DC Jim Heacock which means Knowles is probably gone.

He’s also bringing his GM Derek Hoodjer who is viewed as one of the best there is. Iowa State had no money so he had to get the most out of every penny. This is a huge addition because Franklin botched NIL. Paying backups 500K.

Who will be the QB next year? Grunkemeyer played well enough that he’ll start somewhere next year. Will they stay with Grunk or go after a bigger name like Nebraska’s Raiola who seems poised to leave after they fired his uncle. Or maybe Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt who is already in the portal. Iowa State QB Rocco Becht has a year left but he’s not that good. Maybe he’ll follow Campbell to set up his career as a future grad assistant and coach.

Sone if you are just not ****** getting it. You say They got stomped by Texas Tech twice. Inaccurate they got stomped by Texas Tech once because apparently you cannot hold a team accountable for losing a championship game. Those were the words after Alabama got boot stomped on Saturday Night. They placed Alabama ahead of Notre Dame the week before even though Alabama nudged past ****** Auburn and ND crushed ****** Stanford. So if you were going to somehow believe Alabama should be moved ahead it could not be by much. Then you say we'll you can't hold the Championship game against Alabama........but you can hold the Championship game against BYU. And then to convolute it even worse Miami couldn't even win the ****** ACC. Duke a basketball school did. Makes awesome sense in the words of Shades OBVIOUSLY.

I doubt anyone here thinks the SEC was the only bunch that paid certain players.
Thar Edgeron clip is pretty hilarious though.
