"I'll buy a paragraph, Alex, for $600"...Bemuda for two weeks before Bama was behind Notre Dame. Bama played the Iron Bowl and won. But it was competitive. Notre Dame Stomped a mud hole in Stanford. They placed Bama in front........why. They said Bama made a gutsy fourth down in the Iron Bowl. Which makes zero sense cause none should have been needed. Then you watched Bama get taken apart by Georgia. They said Championship games shouldn't effect teams that participate. But it really seemed like it did for BYU. They are out. I think at this point of the season ND would beat Alabama by double digits on any field. Alabama like the Chiefs have lost their shine. And I know you know it.
Ok - let's deal with your rant.
I've said it, publicly, that:
1. I don't agree with Coach DeBoer's approach to game planning week in and week out; but I'm not the HC nor am I privy to any insider information.
2. With 3 losses, technically, we should not be in the playoffs, but...SoS is a huge factor and I 100% believe that would change the outcome of any team that could have been inserted in Bama's place (with the same season outcome).
The argument, in college football, has been going on for decades - the SEC has harder games week in and week out during their season because the competition is tougher (this is how you spell 'tougher' - Kentucky). Tape vehemently disagrees... but that's OK.
Here's a bit of proof - Vanderbilt used to be the stepping stone in the SEC for decades. Now, with the NIL, they've sharpened their iron and are becoming a household name in the SEC. So what am I saying?
Notre Dame did get the short end of the stick but they chose not to be in a conference. It's their choice. They set their schedule (they have another cupcake schedule in '26) - join a conference and take the argument away.
I bet they will never join one unless forced. Until then, they'll on the outside looking in...
