It's 50 million a season from NBC and Peacock for just football. What is the ACC TV contract pay each school for just football?I don't feel bad for ND. They should just join a conference. I'm sure they are not hurting for money and there is lots to go around.
The ACC distributes TV money with a new formula: 40% split equally, and 60% based on a 5-year rolling average of football (75%) and men's basketball (25%) TV viewership, rewarding successful programs like Clemson/FSU. For the 2023-24 year, schools averaged $45 million, but the new "Success & Brand Initiative" (SSI) model adds millions for high-performers, potentially closing the gap with the Big Ten/SEC by adding significant annual bonuses, notes AP News, FootballScoop.com, WRAL.It's 50 million a season from NBC and Peacock for just football. $45 million for the 2023-24, but I believe top-rated schools in football/basketball viewership can earn significantly more. Notre Dame would fall into that category. It's 50 million a season from NBC and Peacock for just football. What is the ACC TV contract pay each school for just football?
I read the same thing. That's all sports I believe where NBC is just football.$45 million for the 2023-24, but I believe top-rated schools in football/basketball viewership can earn significantly more. Notre Dame would fall into that category.
Again is that all sports put together as in the ACC network and basketball gets this piece, wrestling gets this or is that just football? How the New Model Works (Starting 2024-25)
Key Changes & Impact
- Equal Share (40%): A portion of the revenue is divided evenly among all members.
- Viewership-Based Share (60%):
- 75% of this share is tied to football TV ratings (5-year rolling average).
- 25% of this share is tied to men's basketball TV ratings (5-year rolling average).
- Brand & Success Initiative (SSI): Additional payouts for postseason success and high-profile games, boosting top programs.
This new system rewards investment in football and on-field success, directly impacting how much TV money schools receive annually.
- Higher Payouts for Stars: Teams with large fanbases and successful programs (like FSU, Clemson) get significantly more money due to higher ratings in prime slots.
- Closing the Gap: The SSI is designed to help the ACC's top schools earn closer to Big Ten/SEC levels, potentially adding millions annually.
- 2023-24 Baseline: Before the new model, schools got around $45 million each from shared revenue.
- New Members: SMU will forgo TV revenue for nine years, while Cal & Stanford take a reduced share.
As I understand 75 % football 25% basketball for that $45 million but the SSI adds more to those totals, especially to successful high performersAgain is that all sports put together as in the ACC network and basketball gets this piece, wrestling gets this or is that just football? The conference media rights should be for all sports.Again is that all sports put together as in the ACC network and basketball gets this piece, wrestling gets this or is that just football? Cause NBC is just football.
So say 70 million for all sports really isn't really the same as 50 million directly to football from NBC. Plus the prestige of their own package which has further financial impacts. The conference media rights should be for all sports.
Notre Dame got $17 million from the ACC media deal based on what I was able to find. I don't think the numbers are straightforward. If Notre Dame had already joined the ACC, the conference would've got a better media deal, and with the tiered system they put in place, they'd probably be getting near the same or more. On top of that, they'd have access to a bye week.So say 70 million for all sports really isn't really the same as 50 million directly to football from NBC.
