Football Team releases Dwayne Haskins

Here in Richmond Va, on the local sports radio station, we get a lot of DC coverage. He is a lazy student, and doesn't put the off-field study work in according to the local guys in DC anyways

I grew up in the Richmond area. you right on the coverage. I started my career in the DC area and was there near a decade. The local media and fans are insufferable. That said, the coverage was pretty spot on with such things when was there many, many years ago.

The question regarding Rudolph is this: Is he = to or > than Tommy Maddox? I consider Tommy our "bridge" QB... meaning he was our bridge between our drought years - leading up to & including Kordell - and on to our franchise QB in Ben. IMO, the jury is still out on Rudolph. Not enough playing time. He had quite the
record-setting connection with JW in college, we should remember.

If Rudolph could be that bridge, and along with a strong D and a physical running game, he may be enough to keep us perennial playoff participants (alliteration, anyone?).

And then a few years later, our next franchise HOF QB falls in our laps. Somehow.

As a reminder, Kordell was before Maddox. And the “Tommy Gun” offense replaced him.

Don't forget the powerhouse Kent Graham was in there somewhere. those were the days. LOL

That ****** lost us the game in Cleveland in 2000 by taking a sack on 3rd and goal with no timeouts left and like 12 seconds left on the clock, lost 23-20

he was a disaster. my post was tongue in cheek.

Surprising move with 1 game left. I know he was in the doghouse and I am wondering if skipping his media obligation was the final straw. I would not take him. I thought he came out of college early and he doesnt seem very dedicated. I would take a vet like Fitz he seems to have the steeler mentality. I definitely dont think Rudolph is it. I dont see Fitz coming here to be a backup though.

If he stays in Miami, that's all Fitz will be or sharing the job with Tua. By the time Ben retires, Fitz may, as well, too. Nick Foles could be out there looking for a gig. Mariota could be, as well.

I am with Bermuda.........Pick him up. It would have to be in the offseason.....Too much of a distraction to do it now.

I'm not sold on Murray yet. And for every one of those guys there is a Haskins, Daniel Jones, Darnold, Rosen, Trubisky, Watson

Yep. My brother is a big Jags fan, and it’s funny watching the bights and lows every time they get a new QB. Gabbert, Bortles, Fols, and Minshew, and Luton have all been called “Franchise QB’s” by their fan base at one time or the other. For the record, even they know Glennon isn’t the one lol

They also are always lamenting the hits they have passed on over the years (Mahomes, Jackson, Hebert, Allen, etc.) They’re all convinced that Lawrence is the next Patrick GOAT. Nobody has a crystal ball. Drafting where we typically do, it’s going to be a while before we get a true replacement for Ben.

Not with the Ravens dick... this guy has red flags all over him... the coaches didn’t want him drafted... he has a massive attitude issue... his work ethnic is ******... he was a first round pick cut in his second season in the midst of a playoff run at a position of need, and the most important position on the team... he is 23... the age most guys are drafted at...

Either Rivera and his staff are idiots, or he has massive, terrible problems .....

I swear only half is the player. The rest is in how you develop a QB after drafting them. Look at CLE's list of first round QB busts. Were all those guys really that bad? I would certainly say CLE didn't do much to help any of those guys. That said, how good will PIT be developing a young QB. I recall a few years ago Tombert saying they took Dobbs as part of their long term strategy in QB eval and development as part of the long term ascension plan. Does anyone else recall that? anyway, the real question is do we have the ability to develop a young talent at QB? I certainly don't have any hope in OCRF doing it. Maybe Canada can.

I honestly haven’t watched enough of Haskins to have an opinion one way or the other but I know what we have in Rudolph and it’s a back up QB at best.

So you find that out with a close up training camp look. If nothing is there you cut cord easily. No sweat off their balls so to speak.

Yeah, he can't be fixed - it's never happened before...

Tommy Maddox >>>>>> Mason.

All $14.4 million of Haskins' 4-year contract was guaranteed.

JaMarcus Russell Jr.

Franken Kent. Probably Cowher’s worst FA acquisition, with Donnell Woolford right behind him.

I’d be pissed if we signed this dope. I hated him coming out of college and he’s sucked from day 1.

i didn't even think he was good in college. Ohio state just had so much talent that anybody could put up stats. Haskins had Terry McLauren as his 3rd option at OSU. Shows you how loaded they were.

Somebody like Jameis Winston is immature but at least he has had moments of greatness so you think he may have a really good career once he gets more serious. But Haskins never looked anything better than a backup. Not worth much.
