Football Team releases Dwayne Haskins

Haskins went unclaimed on waivers.

that should tell you something. the NFL talks amongst themselves. they all know more than we do (except Cooch, who gave God pointers - such as giving women free will) so you can damn well bet that there are other issues at play here.

Doesn't mean a whole lot at this point. Only one game left he is not going to learn much or get playing time. Someone will pick him up in the off season

Ah yeah I remember now. I can see the Steelers bringing in a WR and a hybrid LBer. I know you would be stoked if one of these players got the nod.

Stevenson is a speedster and good on punt returns. I'm pretty sure in the few games he played this season he still led the AAC in punt return yardage

Try saying who you would have taken during the draft. Only then will we be equal on initial opinions. I think Claypool has first round talent and said so, and I also said I think Jefferson as the best WR in a very deep class. He likely is.

Ah, you’ve said it constantly and continuously he had first round talent, but again Claypool wasn’t picked in the first round. That doesn’t mean Pat yourself on the back, rather it means kick yourself in the ***.

As you laugh at Justin’s board by trolling it’s contributors you don’t get to just make statements and think they are true. Post your comment link on Jefferson back in April, otherwise you are again OutCoached and full of BS.

[emoji28]And people wonder why he gets picked on. He makes **** up as he goes. I pimped Watt he tried to later lay claim. A few pimped Claypool he tried to later make claim. His prospects aren't hard to figure out look towards the top of a draft where the Steelers don't pick. Or the fastest 40. His evals are stolen from sites as he doesn't know the prospect. When he does do a mock he buries it and never talks about it again. But that mock is a prime example of a guy horrible at evaluations. And he has the nerve to call someone a fraud? Hilarious [emoji38]

to be fair, most of us do rely on what we read. as we all have full-time jobs not devoted to watching young guys run around in shorts. maybe that's Cooch's hobby, I don't know and don't want to know.
though the vast majority of us will have arguments/discussions over who we believe would be a better pick, it's only Cooch who thumps his concave chest when some guy he mentioned as our 3rd round pick is taken in the 7th round. I'm just wondering how we can downgrade our offense next season.

Dwayne Haskins

I just saw something about the odds makers putting the Steelers as the favorites to have him on their roster in 2021.

Now, I know that is all bullshit...but it begs the question from me anyway. Does the kid have talent? I didn't pay that much attention to him in college. I have always had a theory that QBs at schools like Ohio State and Alabama are not as good as it appears, they just have superior talent around them, making them look much better than they are. Not in every case, mind you, but some. Is that the case here?

I saw some guys on NFL network talking about how Haskins is a gifted athlete and a very strong arm. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to have it between the ears. Late to meetings. Doesn't translate what he practices to the playing field. Poor decisions. Too young for grown up situations. I'm not sure if he's worth the risk.

I am an OSU fan. IMHO, he was average to poor at OSU, but surrounded by lots of incredible talent. Fields is a much better QB than he was at OSU. Plus Fields seems to want to put in the work and is an overall young man with a great attitude as far as I can tell. I never understood why he was drafted so high. I do not think he'd be a good fit in the Steelers - IMHO a locker room cancer who probably is not as good as Duck.

We recently wiaved jt barret. I find it funny. Everyone here hates rudolph and that hes talentless etc.

How bad is Haskins when he clears all 32 teams waivers. WTF. I have a hard time mentally picturing a guy who played this whole season for an NFL team, First round pick. Apparently so stupid and bereft of sense that nobody says,, hey we should try him.. I dont think we will use Duck the rest of the year..

According to SPUN, NFL insider Ian Rapoport says Carolina in the running to sign but betting odds the Pittsburgh Steelers sign him in 2021......yikes

I still don’t see the appeal there... not mature enough to handle a role position or dedicated enough to expect he'd take developing seriously .... This is a guy whos play on the field has been bad... like F- ratings bad... anyone who wants him over any of our backups is not actually watching games... there are tons of guys who might be available with oodles of better potential... let this guy die on the vine... he is rotten....

I'm divided on Trask. Reports say he's a humble guy. He leads his receivers very well, and can throw for 400 yards vs. teams like Alabama, BUT his deep ball is iffy and he's going to be easy to sack. He fits best in a west coast style offense, with a good OL.

Fields looks more like a system QB who good at using OSU talent and his legs. OSU has had many guys who were hyped and did the same but disappointed in the pros. Haskins, C Jones, JT Barrett ,T Pryor ad B Miller to make a few. The times when Fields under pressure, he folds. He did not close strong either.

The guy I like is Mac Jones. I know Alabama has 10 first round pick playing, but it's hard to nit pick at what he does. that accuracy in the SEC...wow. Jones to me won't be Ben or a deep passer, BUT give him a good running game and he's going to move the chains with the best of them. If we can somehow obtain Jones in round two, I'd like it. But he might be gone before we pick in round one. Would I take him in round one? That's a big maybe. If Nick Saban privately signs off on him, make that a yes. He reminds me of Kenny Anderson, a very good, but not quite great NFL QB.
Finally. Good post.

My ability on who to pick towers above yours. Right now, I like Jones arm, accuracy and and mobility over Trask's. I also said I'd trade out 1-4 and next years #1 for Trevor Lawrence. No team is that stupid, well maybe the Jags are.

Try making such boats sometimes, I'll laugh in you face. The last one was Claypool is a third round talent. How does 10 touchdowns sound as a rookie with a bad OC who loves Johnson?

The players I like tend to do well in the NFL, I have a long list of guys I wanted picked within range of what we could have had that exceed who we picked .

This is a good QB class. Ben is old. Now is the time to pick his replacement.
And there you go ******* it up... again...

I've called out as many bust or disappointments ( often picking a better player ) as much as anyone here, only to have fools like you debate me for 2-3 years saying they are good.

And since Rivers is a topic lately, I called out he'd be a great QB. TMC said he'd be out of the league in 4 years. There are dozens of evals on the web. Mine are more likely right that Walter Football or Mike Mayock who loves everybody these days. When you have dozes of options, someone is going to be right that year. Mine is right most years. Troll on, your a fraud, and won't dare to match me.

Another player I liked a lot this year was John Taylor. Gee, how did he turn out?
Rivers is not a great QB. He's above average...

NFL pundits are matching up aged QB and low draft pick and saying its the Steelers. that is called speculation. I have seen nothing in Haskins besides his bloated draft position that would put him ahead of Rudolph. But wait Ben hates Rudolph. But wait that is more speculation.

Rudolph 10 career games: 62% completion 1765 yds 13 TD 9 Int

Haskins 16 career games: 60% completion 2804 yds 12 td 14 int

Once you leave the safe confines of your upper end College team this is what matters.

NO to Haskins for more than JUST his football abilities. He has shown on different occasions his off feild respect to the team.

I get it, but I never saw any real flash from him and his arm strength doesn't seem to be there.

While I agree with your point I agree with Hoot about the arm. Mason's arm seems unbelievably weak for a pro QB. I dont know if it could be mechanics or hesitation or whatever, but his arm does not pass the eye test at all. As for Haskins he must have had some real issues to cut him with one game left. Maybe they found out he lied about his recent party, plus he skipped his press conference. He is young so maybe he can be fixed, but it is not likely. At this point all he has going for him is his size and he has a big arm.

I agree with both you guys as I'm not advocating Rudolf as the answer. I was just merely pointing put the "SUB-PAR" Randy Fichtner and his ability to make HOF QB look pedestrian in his system with should relate to at least a little of that in Rudolfs play as well.

The more I think of the upcoming season and salary cap conundrum the Steelers are going to be in. One of these things may happen- Ben stays and seriously restructures his salary.
Ben is cut or retires- they bring in a stop gap vet or extend Rudolph for a few years as the rebuild quarterback. No matter what- the salary cap is what will dictate what happens. It appears we may be headed back to the Malone era for a while.

Maybe maybe not. We'll see.
