There are two franchise tags, exclusive and non-exclusive. The non-exclusive lets other teams negotiate and
offer a contract to the player. The tagging team can match or receive two first round picks for the player. This might
be the way to go with Bell. If teams aren't willing to negotiate with him, he might realize his real value and sign a long
term reasonable deal with Steelers, if someone wants him Steelers get 2 picks and cap space to continue to improve
the team.

I think regardless the Steelers have to tag him. Might as well be the non-exclusive. Question, if a team like the browns don’t want to give up #1 and #4 overall could we negotiate the compensation?

I go with the non-exclusive tag, especially if we get a first rounder this year and one next year. Then, even if no one bites on that, we can still pull our offer up to the deadline. And, I would pull the offer if we can find a good FA RB. Then, use the remaining money you would have used on Bell to help solidify the D with one or two FA's.

NE would offer him a contract. They don’t need their 1st rounders.

I said this a while ago, we will see if you get flamed for it too

# Trade Bell to Cleveland for the 1st or 4th pick to select Barkley.

Unless that RB is a special talent. Barkley is a special talent. He can split out wide and run WR routes. He’s good at pass protection. He’s a big back that is powerful, but also makes tons of people miss and he has breakaway speed. You just don’t see a RB with all of that rolled into one very often.

He also has no off field issues. He’s high motor, high character. He showed he has heart too by not just playing in his bowl but playing hard and wanting the ball even more.

His pass catching is suspect IMO. And what we have in Bell is a known. How he converts to the NFL isn't. Plus that high of a pick I am picking a shutdown corner or QB.........

I doubt the p*ts would give us 2 1st rounders.

Belicheat loves draft picks, and no one on the p*ts but Marsha gets big contracts. Belicheat is too smart to give a RB that money

That's just it those are pseudo 1st rounders, they are top second rounders.

True, but Bell wants to "get paid" and "be valued" the p*ts are the last team in the world to do that for him, even on a 1 year franchise tag. The p*ts make scrub rb's work in their system, why pay Bell 14 million?

I think it would be one 1st this year and another next year.

only reason I wouldn't do it....

C'mon, we can lose to the Pats no matter which one of us has Bell. If we can actually get two firsts, or even one, I say pull the trigger. Bell may have all the talent but he is a locker room cancer and is a poster boy for the undisciplined, me-first, unfocused attitude on the team this year. He has two strikes against him for substance abuse. Let him see what another team will offer. If he is given a multi-year contract, he will be another LaMar Woodley.

that is like a second rounder. If you are letting Bell go you damn sure should get value for him. I would much rather trade him to a ****** team with a better draft selection.

Not sure he is a locker room cancer either.

Another Woodley ? Bell hasn't shown the lazy work ethic, or problems gaining weight.

The week before the first playoff game he shoots his mouth off about not playing next year for the franchise tag. We find out after the fact that was late for the most important game of the season and blew off the last walk-thru before that game. Coupled that with a couple of drug suspensions and giving the Jaguars bulletin board material about a meeting with the Pats. What else does it take to be labeled a locker room cancer? I put some of the blame on Tomlin for allowing this nonsense but if Bell shows as much commitment in 2018 as he showed in 2017 to the game and his team I still think we're better off without him.

Ya, the facts state otherwise...

He’s a special talent at RB and so is Bell. But when Bell wants 17 million a year and Barkley will receive less than 7 million its something you have to look into for the good of the team.

K if he is so ******* special why won't the clowns just save money and draft him theirselves? They wouldn't be out two picks in the process. And **** a franchise QB and a shut down corner in the process huh?

Why wouldn't the Pats look into Bell? To get a young, productive back in his prime to further push them away from the competition. They will look into it. I would. Two late 1st rounders for that talent. Hell yes. Another reason to curse them.

They might but their history with busted first round picks and if the Steelers can take less than the two top 4 picks would go a long way towards if it’s a possibility or not. Maybe Steelers ask for #4 and 2019 1st rounder. Browns then immediately have a sure fire pro bowler with no ******* up required. They go QB #1 overall and now have Gordon and Coleman to go along with Bell .
