The head coach search

My guess is the Bills end up regretting firing McDermott. He helped turn around a losing franchise that had not been to the playoffs for 17 years before he got there. It wasn't McDermott's fault Allen made multiple poor throws on the last couple of drives.

The TE Knox was wide open for a walk in winning TD on the play before the Bills had to kick the field goal that sent it to OT. If Allen doesn't throw that high, McDermott is still coaching the Bills next year.

I'm all for playoff victories, too. No, Flores has not won one, but I've pointed out enough reasons why he hasn't. You're not going to change your mind about the guy, which is fine.

What you cannot ignore or refute is that team defense rankings improved significantly under his tenure in both Miami and Minnesota. There's a good chance he will make similar progress if hired in Pittsburgh. As a fan, I can work with that.

We can go back in forth and of course we are both settled in our opinions.

But there is nothing to suggest that the man can win significant playoff games with the Steelers. Ditto SB victories.

You explained your belief and I explained plenty of concerns.

This sounds way too much like what the team just got out form under. Maybe he's learned, maybe not. I'm skipping him as HC unless he simply blows everyone away in the interview. He seemed to like his time in Pittsburgh. Bring him in as the DC if nobody hires him as a HC.

Tua Tagovailoa said his former Miami Dolphins coach, Brian Flores, was a "terrible person" who consistently demeaned him, telling him he "sucked" and didn't belong, creating self-doubt, contrasting sharply with new coach Mike McDaniel's positive reinforcement, which Tua finds essential for a quarterback's growth and success. Me? When the season starts, I'll watch the game , hope they win, and if not, oh well. Then, I go get dinner and go to work on Monday. Football doesn't affect me the way it did when I was in my 20s. Now it's just entertainment. Win? That's nice. Lose? That's nice. So it doesn't matter to me one bit who we get as coach.

In fairness, Flores was ultimately proven right about Tua, who he probably didn't want to draft in the first place.

Not excusing Flores' "tough love" toward Tua if it crossed the line like Tua suggests, but the "positive reinforcement" from the wizard McDaniel's ultimately didn't do Tua much good either.

Though also in fairness to Tua, his eggs might be scrambled now from the severity of the concussions he's experienced.

Watching a short clip with McAfee and the group mentioned that the top two coaching positions are Baltimore and Buffalo, being that they have franchise QB's in the room. My thought has been the Steelers would be any potential Head Coaches dream job, but maybe not? There is something to be said for longevity, but joining a team with no QB is a very big gamble that I didn't consider until now. Thoughts?

Look, I will admit that since I learned to think, racism has been retarded to me. Absolutely beyond the line of low end thinkers.

But, to be an interview candidate assumes that you might be in the running for a job. To African American candidates, now it means you MIGHT be in the running, or you MIGHT just be a quota guy, a data point. I would feel insulted if I were that guy.

I just don't get the whole pile of nonsense. I find it sad.

It's kind of self explanatory, having a top QB is always the ideal spot as the rest of the components are easier to find.

Whoever the Steelers sign has to build that offense from scratch as there's no starting QB and worst yet, almost zero chance to get one in the draft.

Anything that points to skin pigmentation is a form of diversity. It is masked as otherwise. But a man ( or woman) wants to get an interview based on merit. We all come from one (unless you think you came about by accident oopsie daisy). Regardless they want you to be diverse, easier to control the flock. Keeps you from looking at the real problem. That man can not run man. Greed is the only color they see.

We are all brothers and sisters. Like an extended family we act as such.

There will be a lot of reactions to the coaching hire. This will absolutely not be one of them.
 
There does seem to be a lot more smoke this time around that the Steelers might be interested in an ex-coach or someone older. That surprises me a lot. Not sure if that is coming from Art Rooney II or Omar Khan right now.

Very curious how this all ends up.

Other things that make the Steelers a less desirable job:

Old/outdated/small facilities
Small budget for support staff/position coaches
Cheap owner
Old aging out bigger salaries
No cheerleaders
Cold crappy weather
Following in the GOAT’s footsteps

But yeah, no QB in a QB driven league is pretty important

I tell you Seattle was helped by their late trade for Rashid Shaheed. I would think Kubiak pushed for that? One possible additional positive of bringing him aboard outside of his obvious pluses. Worst case a monitoring of how the GM fills concerns moving forward.
