I'm not seeing what you're seeing...@stuntmanmike I had the exact same thought watching that defensive debacle down the stretch. I was very very high on Shula prior to yesterday's game, because I believe Art II hiring an offensive minded coach is a pipe dream. Sefanski is gone, Minter is going to be gone.
Another funny thing, somewhat related, I heard an interview with Bisciotti (Ravens owner) over the weekend. He mentioned for their HC interviews it will be an 'all day' event, with that candidate meeting several different people, teams, and departments. I started thinking about 'virtual' interviews with coaches that are in the playoffs. What exactly is that 'shortened' virtual interview producing? I think it produces an CYA for the Steelers front office to say, "look, we intereviewed all of these talented football people".
But are they are really? Is Art 2 and Omar REALLY looking or have they already made up their mind??
To my points:
STEELERS HEAD COACH CANDIDATES INTERVIEWED / CONFIRMED INTEREST
- Los Angeles Rams Defensive Coordinator Chris Shula
- (virtual interview Jan. 16)
- Los Angeles Rams Passing Game Coordinator Nate Scheelhaase
- (virtual interview Jan. 16)
- Los Angeles Chargers Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter
- (virtual interview Jan. 17)
- Minnesota Vikings Defensive Coordinator Brian Flores
- (in-person interview scheduled for Jan. 20)
- Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Anthony Weaver
- (virtual interview complete, in-person interview scheduled week of Jan. 19)
- Carolina Panthers Defensive Coordinator Ejiro Evero
- Green Bay Packers Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley
- (virtual interview Jan. 17)
- San Francisco 49ers Offensive Coordinator Klay Kubiak
- (virtual interview Jan. 18)
- Former Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy
- (in-person interview scheduled week of Jan. 19)
It appears it is down to two individuals. very sad
What makes you think this that have had a virtual interview won't be scheduled for in-person interviews???
Flores and McCarthy are known commodities so they would be the first logical in-person opportunities I'd bring in too.
Nate Scheelhaase is the guy I'm praying for. He calls a very good game and gets receivers and backs in the right place for QBs to succeed...
