Brain functions are out of my league, so I'll go with what Wkik says.

One of the main methods used to establish a relationship between intelligence and the brain is to use measures of Brain volume. The earliest attempts at estimating brain volume were done using measures of external head parameters, such as head circumference, however, such approximations proved to be inaccurate when estimating brain size. More recent methodologies that were employed to study this relationship are post-mortem measures of brain weight and volume. However, such measures also proved to be somewhat inconclusive, yielding diverging results depending on sex, which hemisphere was examined and on the type of intelligence measured.

The most widespread methodology in contemporary neuroscience to measure brain volume and size is MRI. MRI is a non-invasive technique used to study the brain structure and function (using fMRI) of living subjects. Overall, larger brain size and volume is associated with better cognitive functioning and higher intelligence. The correlations range from 0.0 to as high as 0.6, and are predominantly positive. On average, the correlation between brain volume and intelligence is between 0.3 and 0.4, with one meta-analysis of 37 studies with a total of 1530 subjects estimating the correlation to be 0.33. The specific regions that show the most robust correlation between volume and intelligence are the frontal, temporal and parietal lobes of the brain. Therefore it can be safely concluded that larger brains predict greater intelligence.

I'm thinking maybe my original post went over your head..........................ducking and running :anyone::beer:

Don't miss the next episode of your favorite show: "coach's quest for the missing red flag"

Adequate. Equates to Lower Green Level. Report to work tomorrow morning at the Tech Company of your choice. Ask for Coach, he'll be your supervisor.

Unfortunately, Coach will not be available to train you for several weeks. He has requested a temporary leave of absence in order to review Durpee's academic record. He already has a meeting set up with Durpee's Kindergarten teacher in order to evaluate whether the future Steelers OLB was able to color between the lines at an appropriate age.

When I first saw Coach's post I was afraid he would tell us someone had mixed up the red flags on his choice (Gregory) with Dupree. Glad it was only the wonderlic score. Wonder if his source was one of those Colbert was disputing.

Does anyone know the Wonderlic scores of Lambert, Greene, Lloyd, Porter, Harrison, et al?

(asking for a friend, I'll hang up and listen)

I would take Chicillio before Gregory, as well as Clark, Owa, Dupree and many others.

We have had complaints about an inch and 1/2 of height and 15 pounds making a corner back too small but he is fine with going with a smaller slower linebacker than the one we took who does not seem to have other issues. Gregory looks about 35 lbs lighter and is slower than Bud and is way below on the sparq scores. Not just no but hell no.

I didn't do too bad. I got a 32

Right its not a hard test. Anyone who scores a 13 could very well have trouble learning. Sorry it's true fellas. That's what I am saying. This scouting report pretty much says Dupree does not have a high football IQ, and is raw even though he started for four years. Why is this so?

"Wins with athleticism over skill at this point. Some scouts believe his instincts are below average, leading to hesitation. Will get caught taking bad angles to the ball. Needs to improve hand fighting. Still raw rushing the passer. Doesn't possess a go-to pass-rush move. Appears to lack urgency in-game."

Nope. 32 is on the mid way green, closer to the upper side. It would also be a very high score for an NFL player. I really don't care about wonderlic scores unless they are very low, which Dupree's was.

Getting back to football for a moment. The coaches have said it takes a while to learn our defense. They know better than us. If you have a slow learner type as Dupree might be, the coaches might not trust him to be anything but a pass rusher on 2nd or 3rd and long.

I hope Dupree get a chance to start over Jarvis Jones. IMO, he's better than Jones period.

Yikes, Coach, where to start. Jarvis and Dupree (or Durpee if that's what you like) play different positions. Secondly, 13 is not a big deal for an OLB. Thirdly, we have no idea whether he in fact scored a 13 or not.

Yes they play two different positions. Dupree plays LOLB and Jarvis plays ROLB. They will play together bookends.

Scouts regarding Gregory...

"Can't quit smoking pot. So hopelessly hooked on the stuff that he utterly threw away his shot at the first round without regard and got stoned right before the combine. While he's academically adequate, he's been called dumber than a box of rocks by former coaches and friends alike. Considered completely unreliable to everyone except corner drug dealers who depend upon him like the tide or the rising of the sun. Tenacious hand-fighter, especially when there are cheetoh's at stake. Generally considered a team leader but has problems passing the joint. -- Would be a great fit for the Cowboys or the Ravens."

We'll see if the Steelers selected the right player. Ray or Gregory went after Dupree. I think Dupree must pan out, or the defense is in some serious trouble. Harrison is our best pass rusher and he's old.

Did the Steelers say where he is going to play? ROLB or LOLB?

Tomlin said he would start out at LOLB (strong side). Anything can happen in the future, of course, but Jarvis can't play on the strong side whereas Dupree appears to fit the mold of a 3-4 strong side OLB perfectly.

If Coach says this enough times then it must be true....I'm thinking a couple hundred more times in multiple threads will do. You have to start thinking with the green part of your brain to understand though. Good luck.

Thanks. But Jones isn't fast enough to play the weak side. I'd like to see Harrison and Dupree start by October 2015

Porter said Harrison's snap count will be limited this year.
