Would the Steelers really miss Bell?

How do you figure? If Bell plays this year out and leaves next year like we all expect, we get nothing for him. If they can get a trade that gives us a number 1, you take it in a heart beat. We would then have two first round picks next year.

I would take a 1, 2, or 3.

A 3 is what you get for a comp pick if he leaves. But with the extra cash you wonder if they bring in free agents if there will be a offset to where you get a lower comp pick.

1, 2 or 3 I would be trying to get the second the second strip club slacker signs his tag.

If we don't get it fine, but try.

ark, bottom line is Conner did real well and Bell is off to the pole club. We did A-ok with out Bell and proved our coaches will run the wheels off of who ever is back there.

I don't disagree and I hope it continues. I was disappointed in not seeing JaySam provide Connor some relief, but I also didn't want them to pull the "hot hand" out of the game. People here ***** for stupid ****. if he pulls connor and jaysam ***** up, he is a stupid coach for pulling the hot handed player.

I will say this, everyone here is saying connor was gassed at the end of the game. Do you think Bell would have been? Yeah, me either.

Ben gets more reps in preseason and gets hurt, Tomlin is a stupid coach. Preserves Ben, Tomlin is a stupid coach. Plenty of QB's got the same or less reps and did fine. Ben had plenty of reps in practices, I'm not so sure I buy the lack of preseason reps

We went to "turtle ball", Tomlin is a stupid coach. Normally, I'd agree to keep the ball in Ben's hands. The # of turnovers by Ben indicates that, maybe, just ******* maybe, turtle ball was the right thing to do. Connor being tired had nothing to do with that fumble, it was punched out from behind on a good defensive play. Nope, just Tomlin is stupid.

The ball looked like it was away from his body. He will learn from that. We still had a 7 point lead after the fact until the low snap Ben tried to play and ended up losing. I'm putting this loss on 7 more than on anyone else. Note I said loss, because a tie ******* feels like a loss especially to a team we ******* dominated save for turnovers and penalties.

it does feel like a loss. Up by 14 in the 4th with over 7 min to go should be a surefire W. I don't care if it's Cleveland or NE, play not to lose(or tie). They looked and played scared after CLE made it 21-14. Ben was bad. Sometimes he looked lighter and faster, other times he looked like an aging QB that can't do things he did years ago.

the other bonus is that if you get a 3, it will be better than a 3 comp pick. I wouldn't take less than a 2, though, unless I just couldn't get it.

After the late night stripping shots, Bell does not want to be a football player, he wants to be a rapper/partier. It would be very smart now for the Steelers to sign and trade, before his nightlife catches up with him. DUI, Possession, Fight, Arrests.

Get what you can, but the least amount I would take for Bell is a 1st and a 2nd.

Well, the Raiders took Bryant so there's always hope. I just don't see anyone paying him what he wants though.

Dump his cap hit and a 1st or a 2nd and he'd be gone. SORRY but he is to much distraction.

Thank you Bell for this great memory...now GTFO of Pittsburgh.

That is one of the images I think of when I think of how good Bell really is.

Conner played the most snaps of any RB in the league this week and his stats were crazy good. He also averaged 5.1 ypc when the Clowns had 8+ in the box to stop the run. That is something Bell has not done and I don't think he can do. As I said earlier, the system helped pad Bells numbers. He is a great back but no where near as good as he thinks he is.

Not sure if I am buying this line.

Still wondering why they chose not to play Samuels or Ridley at RB yesterday....Samuels looked good in pre sesson...think if you use all three of these guys it more than makes up for Bell...the Steelers have options without Bell in the line up...kind of curious if Bell could pass a drug test right now with all his partying....hard work will always out pace talent in the end...Conners more than proved that yesterday....

Does Bell every even average 5.1 ypc in a game? Sometimes but not often. His average last year was less than 4 ypc. Still, the point is Bell is not as good as he thinks he is.

Would Bell have even made it to 36 touches? Could only muster 13 touches last year after missing all of camp. Then again, I believe you said Bell at 70-80 percent was better than the other options, so he probably would've rolled for 300 yards and 4 TDs yesterday.

As a pass catcher I always thought he was the best. As a blocker I thought he was one of the best. As a runner I thought he was good sometimes great. And he has solid hands.

Not saying they shouldn't move on from him gathering compensation.

But I think he is one of the best at his position overall.

And, he is but he is not worth what he was asking. However, in doing what he did, he definitely raised the bar for salaries for running backs but at the time of last years offer and this years offer, he would have been paid more than 50% more than the next highest paid back. And, when you see what Conner just did, you realize that any good running back can put up those kind of numbers based on the way we play football (both running it and how Ben uses the RB as a security blanket for dump offs).

I honestly don’t know. This is truly uncharted territory. Coach has never had a point before.

Oh I do. You just have to listen. Bell is over rated and Tomlin needs to go.

Remember who wanted Watt badly in round one?

That Connor had a good game does not change the fact he is no where near as good as Bell.

I cheered for every big run by Connor. That doesnt make me ignor facts, though.

Bell could only muster 13 touches or is that all he got? Shirley, you cant think those are the same thing? As delusional as people here are, i guess that is an open question.

You want to talk about touches? Connor lasted 68 offensive snaps last year, not touches, but snaps, before injury. That is lessthan 1/5th, i think of bells touches for the year.

I'd rather be cautious with my optimism on Connor. I hope he gets 5.1/carry every game for 19 games.

He had 3 seasons of 4.7, 4.9 and 4.9. Not games, seasons. seems liklike a game or 2 was, probably, over 5.1

Did he play those seasons fully or just partially, just curious.

I think all, just partially. Neither injury was due to poor conditioning or anything. I think the 4.7 yr was after 4 game suspension. I, believe, during that suspension he wasnt able to practice with the team, fwiw....

Other 2 were burf defect targeting hit for injury.

I really dont understand the point of trying to slight Bell for his injuries. I mean one was a helmet to the knee while he was in a defenseless position catching a pass. The other was Burfect purposely trying to injure him. The groin he injured in miami or KC but played thru it and led us to the AFC title game before he couldnt play anymore..

Jets are another team that could be a sign and trade candidate down the road if they keep playing like last night.
If you can get 5 or 6 teams interested, you might be able to bid up a draft pick.

I can not agree more about a sign and trade. Where I disagree is in the amount of the trade. I'll take the best offer, and broom him. We can start off with 14.5 million in cap space. If the offer for Bell is a 2nd round pick, so be it! If its a 3rd and a 4th, so be it.

If we got a 3rd for drug addict Martavias, we should be able to get a 1 for Bell, especially since Bell wants the money and if a team is willing to offer it to him, even if he can't sign a new contract until after the season. A team can also give Bell a bonus on top of the tag, as could the Steelers but the Steelers aren't that stupid.
