Would the Steelers really miss Bell?

ark steel

4.0 doesn't "suck". On average that puts you at 3rd and 2 every series. It isn't great and, of course you want better. I don't know what you consider "acceptable". Bell showed for 3 straight years he could do better.

Everyone complained constantly about Haley's ****** play calling, even if Ben ended up giving the other team 10-14 points, it was Haley's fault. Would that have affected Bell too, or was he immune to ****** play calling?

The OL started out slow last year too. Did you see where I noted Ben was sacked 6 times in the first 4 weeks? If the OL was allowing that, how much did that kind of play affect Bell's ypc those weeks?

McCoy had 4.0. Fournette had 3.9. Those guys don't suck.

4.0 with our Offensive Line, Ben and skill players which need to be accounted for does in fact suck. Come on, we have a pro bowl tackle, an pro bowl guard and a pro bowl center. Our other tackle when healthy is darn good to, and to cap it off Bell has the best blocking Full back in the NFL.

Bell was able to do better in the past with the same Todd Haley play calling. I don't think you can use Haley as an excuse. Too much of a double standard.

I think Bell has lost some quickness due to wear and tear have a lot to do with last year's effort. You seem to be open to that interpretation.

Fournette was on the Jaguars, a team that lacks a passing QB and talented WR's. He was a marked man and their OL isn't as good as ours. Put Bell on that team, and he's a 3.6 yards per carry type of guy. Put Fournette our out team... let's just say he'll be better.

I know Pouncey's pissed.

Looks like Pouncey isn't the only one.

Maurkice Pouncey is clearly DONE w/ Le’Veon Bell’s absence. Says he’d much prefer Bell just say when he’s going to show up, even if it’s Week 10: “Why play hide and seek? Why let your agent say this? Just man up and tell us what you’re going to do.”

You tell 'em Pounce.

Le'Veon Bell's blockers are lighting him up right now. Not happy at all.

These boys aren't holding anything back.

So how, did Ben get sacked 6 times in 4 games? The OL did not play like pro bowlers at the beginning of the season. Quit ignoring that or explain how they let ben get sacked 6 times while playing like pro bowlers.

I'm not using Haley as an excuse. I'm not one of those who constantly blame the coaches when players fail to execute. Ben has been able to play great in Haley's system, too, but in game 1 v Jax, he threw 5 INT's, 2 for pick 6's.

I am. I don't keep repeating it as fact. I need to see more than one season's worth of work to know.

That lack of passing QB and talented WR's put up 293 yards on the *'s in the AFCCG. His passer rating in the playoffs was 91. 98.5 against the greatest coach ever.

There always seems to be some reason other players don't perform up to some arbitrary standard. Not Bell, though, it is all him, I guess?

Love Bell the player but seems he has some growing up to do as a man. Cant leave your team holding the bag for you. He should of been let them know the deal. MAN UP..IM NOT COMING GUYS..

Anybody who doesn't think the Steelers are hurt significantly by Bell not playing needs to be slapped upside the head. Seriously.

I don't know if there is anyone that doesn't think that (even if they're not saying it), they're just pissed. We Steeler fans are fanatics and with fanaticism can come a lot of emotion.

Oh wait, Coach is the exception. Since his Eddie Lacy over Le'Veon Bell days, he'll never give Bell his due.

Let’s see, 4.0 yds avg per carry. 4 downs in a 10 yard possession. That equals 12 yards. So the player averages a first down on every 4th carry. Name one coach (except you coach) that wouldn’t take that avg.

Yeah...thought so. We know you don’t like Bell. Your agenda to prove everyone is wrong about him is laughable.

When DeCastro chimes in, it's safe to say they are pissed.

When Foster and DeCastro speak, you listen. Pouncey wears his emotions on his sleeves and holds nothing back. These are the guys who get no glory to block for the running backs and they all went off on Bell.

Trai Essex@TraiDay79

Has nothing to do about his money and more so about them not having to find out thru the media that he’s not showing up. They’ve been blocking for this man for 5 years. They deserve more than that

Trai Essex again.

Wow. Bell thought we were tough on here. Now the players have spoken their mind on the issue. When Bell does report it just might be a bit awkward.

Conner, Samules and Fitchner

What we have in Conner, and Samuels in a full game remains to be seen. Conner looks like a north/south power runner, who can bust some long runs because he hits the hole and doesn't dance. He showed good hands in the pre-season as well. Samuels looks like a smooth pass catching back, with some speed, and ability to make the other guy miss.

I'll say it again. Pittsburgh is an easy place to run the ball.

We've got a pro bowl tackle, a pro bowl guard, and pro bowl center, accompanied by a sledgehammer pro bowl FB. Both the Center and Guard can pull either way. When healthy McDonald is a power blocking tight end.

We've also got a franchise QB a hall of fame bound WR, another very good WR who would be many teams first option, and a rookie WR who turns 50/50 balls into 80/20 conversations.

Teams can cheat their safety up to stop the run if you dare.

Don't be shocked if Conner can average more than Bell's 2017 4.0 yards per carry, or pass his very limited 3 runs over 20 yards, and bank on Samuels being able to do a bit more with the football and better Bell's 7.7 yards per catch. While neither player has an all-world stiff arm, or the ability to leap over a player going low, these are things Bell only shows us 4-5 times a season.

Offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner will need to find the best mix. He's the key to a fast start, and I hope he Nix as the Fullback as he will really complement when Conner does nicely.

What are “ 8-/20 conversations”?

What are “ 8-/20 conversations”?

80/20, meaning 80% of the time, referring to Washington's ability to win jump ball type of passes.

Coach, Vance McDonald is a power blocking TE? That description fits the outlaw more than McDonald. Vance is a receiving threat, a seam route nightmare, not saying he can't block but that's not what his game is

Nope. McDonald blocks a ton. James has improved a little as blocker but he's far from a power blocking TE.
