Would the 2017 AFC Championship game be different if Cowher was the coach?

**** Tom Lady.

Next year the Steelers will get the leg up\\

finally

yinz heard it here first

NO. They played the same ten yard cushions when he and Lebeau were here. The man has been gone a decade, when exactly is it time to realize he is never coming back, and he was a damn good, not great coach himself? He had the same HOF DC running his defense when they won the title that Tomlin had when he won his. Most of the same scout/front office people have remained the same as well. None of which makes Tomlin more than a decent coach himself. It's the off season so we will have the obligatory fifty Cowher/Tomlin discussions, because nobody has anything else relevant to think about. Like free agents, or team altering players up for contract.

If you can't tell that we blitzed a hell of a lot more under Cowher than under Tomlin, then I really don't know what to say. Like I said, who knows if it would have affected the outcome, but Tomlin defenses "play in their fears", Cowher's did not.

And what did that blitz against Brady net us?

Our defense is still a work in progress. They made a decent leap in 2016. Go defense heavy in the draft again with an OLB and CB in the first two picks
and I think we are headed toward having one of the better if not the best defenses in the league.

How long has Cowher NOT been a coach in the league now?

This is ******* retarded. Hello, Cowher lost to the Patriots in two AFC Championship games. Did you happen to watch those?

Did you forget that the level of cheating resulted in the evidence being burned by the league? Video, players mic'd up, signals being jammed...poof!

Do you think the cheating stopped?

So BC is coming back to coach us next year? I mean the 2017 AFC Championship has not happened yet so I guess he is.

my answer to the OP.
Yes things would have been different, different drafting strategies, = different team, I think we would have had a strong running game beyond the starter, and pass rush would have probably been stronger. Defensive scheme may have been the same and maybe the same outcome. But the team would have definitively been made up of very different individuals. Team would have at least the same number of trophies, the man was dealing with his wife's impending demise and I remember that when I think about his last season.

it has been noted that his wife's demise was 4 years later.

I remember that playoff win. We were a strong favorite.

Kordell scored early on a busted play. We went for it on a 4th and goal from 1 late.

We barely squeaked out a 7-6 victory. Iced by a fumble caused by a young Steeler lb who would go on to win plenty with the pats.

The year after Cowher retired was the first I heard in the news that his wife was sick (cancer I believe). I am thinking coach knew before it was anounced in the news.

I checked and Cowher has a winning record vs. Belichick including a win in the playoffs. Cowher also has a head to head margin over Belichick.

While Cowher's teams sometimes failed in the playoffs, they were often handicapped with poor QB play. And he was 5-1 with Ben.

All joking aside .....who the **** cares?!!!! Why stop at Bill...Would have Chuck lost?.....****. Bill lost most of his AFCC games. Move the HELL on from Bill. It probably is well past due.

You are not going to out scheme the Patriots. Either because they are the smartest ever or because they are cheating scumbags. You have to out physical them up front. That's why the Giants gave them fits. The front 4 on defense was able to win and harass Brady. Not what they did in the secondary. Until we get the pass rush from four down lineman we will have trouble against them.
Two ways. You play press coverage with a quality secondary and take away his bread and butter slants and speed outs and your blitzes get home. Or like you said you generate a huge four man rush. But I guess that kinda works on anyone.

Given the record it works a lot better on other people than it does on Brady. Also seemed like the Texans got hit pretty bad by the NE running game despite their pressure on Brady.

And we are one player away at CB and at pass rusher. Maybe once Hargrave develops more add Cam and another quality edge rusher we will be ready. This draft be nice to add the best pass rusher we can. I don't care if he isn't the best run defender. A pass rushing specialist. Tim Williams who was used in thst role at Alabama comes to mind

That game was with Pete Carroll as head coach. We played them in the playoffs the year before when Belicheat was the assistant head coach (really the head coach, as Parcells is really a cheerleader/motivator, who has done nothing without BB on his staff). They dispatched us 28-3. BB didn't have the talent to handle us in Cleveland, but he saw enough of us to figure us out. Given a better team in New England, we've been nothing but a speed bump since then.

Anything I have read in regards to Kaye Cowher's health says that she wasn't diagnosed with cancer until the year 2010. She passed a few months after her diagnosis.
