If you can't tell that we blitzed a hell of a lot more under Cowher than under Tomlin, then I really don't know what to say. Like I said, who knows if it would have affected the outcome, but Tomlin defenses "play in their fears", Cowher's did not.
And what did that blitz against Brady net us?
This is ******* retarded. Hello, Cowher lost to the Patriots in two AFC Championship games. Did you happen to watch those?
Did you forget that the level of cheating resulted in the evidence being burned by the league? Video, players mic'd up, signals being jammed...poof!
Do you think the cheating stopped?
cowher much > tomlin
my answer to the OP.
Yes things would have been different, different drafting strategies, = different team, I think we would have had a strong running game beyond the starter, and pass rush would have probably been stronger. Defensive scheme may have been the same and maybe the same outcome. But the team would have definitively been made up of very different individuals. Team would have at least the same number of trophies, the man was dealing with his wife's impending demise and I remember that when I think about his last season.
it has been noted that his wife's demise was 4 years later.
I checked and Cowher has a winning record vs. Belichick including a win in the playoffs. Cowher also has a head to head margin over Belichick.
While Cowher's teams sometimes failed in the playoffs, they were often handicapped with poor QB play. And he was 5-1 with Ben.
Two ways. You play press coverage with a quality secondary and take away his bread and butter slants and speed outs and your blitzes get home. Or like you said you generate a huge four man rush. But I guess that kinda works on anyone. You are not going to out scheme the Patriots. Either because they are the smartest ever or because they are cheating scumbags. You have to out physical them up front. That's why the Giants gave them fits. The front 4 on defense was able to win and harass Brady. Not what they did in the secondary. Until we get the pass rush from four down lineman we will have trouble against them.

And we are one player away at CB and at pass rusher. Maybe once Hargrave develops more add Cam and another quality edge rusher we will be ready. This draft be nice to add the best pass rusher we can. I don't care if he isn't the best run defender. A pass rushing specialist. Tim Williams who was used in thst role at Alabama comes to mindTwo ways. I remember that playoff win. We were a strong favorite.
Kordell scored early on a busted play. We went for it on a 4th and goal from 1 late.
We barely squeaked out a 7-6 victory. Iced by a fumble caused by a young Steeler lb who would go on to win plenty with the pats.

No. The Steelers just don't have enough good players on defense to stop Brady.
The year after Cowher retired was the first I heard in the news that his wife was sick (cancer I believe). I am thinking coach knew before it was anounced in the news.
