Williams should have been pulled in the third quarter.

So let me try and get your logic straight:

Even though the D wasn't stopping the Seahawks, you still have no problem with kicking a field goal from the 3 yard line, giving the ball back to them, and still being behind in the game with three minutes left on the clock? When another Seattle touchdown puts the game completely out of reach?

You've got it. Your logic seems to be based around the idea that the TD was somehow guaranteed --- it's the old "I'd rather be winning than losing" approach which doesn't account for the fact that actually scoring the TD is probably a 50-55% probability at best whereas the 3 points is a 99.7% probability.

And the fact that a Seattle TD puts the game out of reach is neither here nor there...that applies to EVERY scenario. And as I've said, having a 1 or 3 point lead means Seattle has 4 downs to move into FG position to tie or win the game.

The fact is that Tomlin's decision put us in a terrific position to win the game ---- we needed to make one stop on 3rd and long and we would have been in great position for the win. Except we couldn't stop Seattle's offense on 3rd and long which would apply to every scenario. The blame on Tomlin is our complete lack of talent at the CB position as well as the stupid fake FG decision.

Not going for it in this scenario is against what Tomlin had been doing all season. He will normally go for it in that situation. Though if he fails to convert the first down, he again is the goat, so it's a lose lose argument on this board...

This keeps getting brought up, but I don't agree. Each decision is vastly different. Going for 2 in the middle of the first quarter is not the same as the 4th quarter Seattle decision. And remember, kickers are actually missing 33-yard extra points which changes the math. The kick in Seattle was as far as an "old" extra point.

Going for the win in San Diego is not the same...3 yard line, not the 1 yard line...3 minutes left vs. 5 seconds. And hey, maybe Tomlin really was stupid enough to think they would have had a chance to call a timeout with 1 second left if Bell was stuffed in San Diego??? Maybe in his mind he wasn't taking a massive risk?

The decisions in the Baltimore game were largely made based on the lack of confidence in Scobee.

i don't miss bell. That's how good williams is playing right now. He adds speed, and better power running in my opinion. His numbers and statistics fact are better than bell's with the same players and system.

lol...............................................

Isn't this game in the books?

Because the 35 point win reduces the reasons to ***** and complain about Tomlin.

Personally, I thought he needed a haircut -- dude should be fired for that.

Shocking that you can't respond with anything of actual intelligence. Do you work for the media? Because you grabbed PART of the quote, and not the entire thing. Good job tool!

The part quoted by me intelligently says it all...why bother with the rest? Your half-hearted brush-off of Tomlin's mistake in your second paragraph does nothing to mask your undying love for the gentleman.

Well, then, your logic is faulty.

No, my logic is based on optimally scoring a touchdown and taking the lead, but if not, backing Seattle up near their own goal line and them having a greater probability of run-run-pass-punt than they would have in better field position.

It absolutely does not apply to "EVERY" scenario, as evidenced by what actually occurred in the game: the quick, long Seattle touchdown. The Steelers got the ball back with 2:01 on the clock and 2 timeouts left, trailing 39-30. Had the Steelers scored the touchdown instead of settling for three, it would have still been a one-score game instead of a nine-point deficit.

There you go again -- it was a terrific decision to kick a FG and still be trailing in the game, even though you couldn't foresee the defense being able to stop Seattle in any scenario.

Wow. Just wow.

Not at all. I would have applauded the move even if the Steelers didn't score the TD. The results shouldn't have any bearing on whether the correct choice was made at the time.

He made the right decision against San Diego, and the wrong decision against Seattle. It is what it is.

The results always have a bearing on the "correct choice"!
