Listen, I like Mike Tomlin as a person a lot. And I wish he was as good a coach as he is a cool guy. But, I watch plenty of other teams play other games week in and week out and what I see with the Steelers under Tomlin that I don't see with other teams is this phenomena where in 4 or 5 games a year against bad teams, this other team shows up that looks nothing like the team that they normally are. Most other teams beat the teams that they are better than and lose to the teams that they are outmanned by. We regularly lose to inferior teams. I think more than any other team in the league. Yesterday, we clearly should have abandoned the offensive game plan that wasn't working and let Ben be Ben. There is no doubt we would have won.
Tomlin is not going to be fired unless we miss the playoffs probably twice in a row. The problem is that he is not a BAD coach, he's a MEDIOCRE coach and mediocre coaches usually deliver mediocre teams, even when the talent is there to be great. In order for us to actually get to a Super Bowl, we need to either win enough regular season on the road to ensure we have a home playoff game or two, or we have to win on the road in the playoffs. Neither, we seem to be able to do under Mike T.
