Here's my question. The Steeler window, realistically, is 3-4 years, the offense is SB caliber and the defense is not, more specifically, the 2ndary is not SB caliber. Even with Weddle's reduced production and age what gives the Steelers a better chance at winning the SB in the next 3-4 years, an experienced and not completely done Weddle or a rookie SS? IMO, it's Weddle, now, they can't break the bank for him, but he definitely fits in the window of opportunity. The 2ndary needs to be average, they just can't be bottom 1/3, IMO.

But if you look at Troy the Steelers probably should have cut ties with him at 31 and not hope he gets better miraculously. Do we really want to bid with the Oaklands and other teams who need to spend to get their cap up or do we wait and see if what we think his price is worth and his demands fall in line. I personally don't see Weddle being that piece that drives us to the super bowl. Maybe if he was 27 I would be all in on signing him but at 31 I feel we can look elsewhere.
I am not saying a rookie but with signing Golden we don't need to sign anyone we don't feel is the right fit at the right price.
