Update : Weddle signs 29 mil deal with Ravens

So he had ONE season where he was injured? Which was last season. We aren't talking about Bob Sanders

Yeah fans should really research him better, he would be a upgrade at S for the Steelers...

Not going to take much for an upgrade...

I'd like him on a short deal, even if they overpay a little. Draft a SS early and allow him to develop behind Weddle. If he is good enough to beat Weddle out in year two, even better.

Well we have $600K extra now that Bryant is suspended for the year. :uncomfortableness:

Dumb move. Don't do it, front office. He had the least tackles since his ROOKIE year, no interceptions for the first season in his career. Just say no.

For the SECOND time, he ranked #7 in terms of coverage amongst ALL defensive backs in football last year and #1 in coverage since 2010. But, go ahead, keep dismissing that.

They can easily fit him under the cap. Word is he wants approx. 5-6m a season. We can give him something like 1.5m base, 5.5m bonus on a 3 year deal and he'd count @ 3.3/5.8/6.8(aka cut) on a 3 year 16m deal.

Oakland eliminated, down to Pittaburgh Baltimore @ Dallas

Why would Weddle want to go to Baltimore? I'm assuming he wants a shot at a championship. Baltimore looks light years away. Even with a healthier Romo they are a long ways too. I would imagine the Steelers put out real offers to Weddle and Okung. Which would you prefer. Id go with Weddle. Okung has been chronic with his injuries. Plus I think Weddle is a bigger upgrade to the defense than Okung is to the oline.

I just think of SS as being an in the box aggressive tackler type and FS as being a a ball hawk cover guy. Both these guys look like SS to me.

Weddle, Okung, Green, **** it bring them all in. Let's go get a few more trophy's

Agreed but I also want to caution against thinking that free agents will bring trophies with them. The skins and the Eagles have tried super teams in recent years with ****** results

But we are the F'N STEELERS!!!!!!! :)

The Eagles just threw way too much money and and several on mediocre players.
the difference is we if we sign Weddle @ Okung will be signing guys that want to win, and have come from teams that have good winning traditions as well as good environment locker rooms.
yes SD has sucked but that is bc they have just not cared to add good WRs until Allen, they just relied to much on gates and a sub par players like Floyd. Weddle was Around some good D players like Castillo, Luiget, Ingram.
Okung comes from a team that has been the beast of the nfc for 3-4 years, that now now looks to be headed for a downward spiral.

When the skins and the Eagles spent big on free agents did they have the following:

1. Arguably the best WR in the league?
2. Arguably the best RB in the league?
3. Almost unarguably a top 3 quarterback?

Seems to me the difference between the Skins and Eagles you are referring and the current Steelers is the Steelers have the basis of a very good team and are looking to fill their weakest positions with mid-range good players who fit their game plan, whereas the Skins and Eagles were throwing big dollars at high end free agents in an effort to build a team.

I believe I read somewhere that Mitchell's true position is at FS but he switched when he came here.
