Trade for a back up QB?

Who's out there? Who are the Jets going to cut?

Landry Jones isn't a back up. He be cut or beaten out by half the 3rd string QB's.
 
Landry Jones has proven that he cannot play in this league. He needs to be cut tomorrow.
 
I'd say before the cut, one should have a back up in place or near to it.......

We don't have a high waiver wire priority. I'm okay offering a 7th round pick for a better QB than Jones.

See the posts earlier in the week under the thread titled "Gradkowski has 'sizable' hamstring tear."

There are a bunch of possibilities.....But they don't need to wait to see the waiver wire (because anyone decent will be taken before the Steelers' turn in the pecking order).

They need to make a deal.

Actually, the Steelers have been cavalier about the backup QB situation for years. But given BR's age and injury history, time for them to get more serious about it.

landry is done, he shouldn't make the team. Rather get another QB and roll with two
 
gee, JUST LIKE I SAID LAST WEEK, landry sucks. time to get rid of him!
 
The Steelers need to watch the tapes of two games and what they have as a backup and shake that tree hard to find someone competent to run the offense.
 
The Falcons have Matt Ryan, Matt Schaub, and Matt Simms. If they were to go with just 2 QBs to open the season then Schaub or Simms would be available, at the moment Simms is 10/13, 136 yards and 1 touchdown against the stains.

don't know much about Simms...but Schaub would be a big NO
 
I used to think Jones got a bad rap, but now I am in the he sucks camp. They need a veteran. A young guy will not help this year. Next off season dump grad and Jones and start to groom someone

So we go into the season without a backup qb who knows the system? Maybe we can get Favre out of retirement /s
 
My opinion is with all the pieces in place he might get you through a week or two. If Ben is lost so is the season. And there is no trade you could make to change that. Get through the season. Draft a qb first round next year if one worthy of a first round falls. Solves two problems at once.
 
At this point we have to do something at backup QB even if it's wrong.
 
We have pretty good ILB and OL depth if we did decide to trade.

I think that Landry's performance just highlights how depedent we are on having threats out of the backfield to make this offense work. Put Bell in there and you see different defensive sets which makes the QBs job easier.

And when AB isn't out there defences can play to their scheme a bit better without having to worry about one particular guy. That makes our Offense look pedestrian and makes the QBs job much harder as no one is calling any of the rest of our WRs playmakers. They're OK but no one really fears them without AB in the mix.

Don't get me wrong - Landry is still not the answer but he's already proved that he is able to fill in when he has the weapons around him.

Yeah. We can trade for a quality back up. Because other teams want to give them up. Jones is our back up for this season. You know it. I know it. Everyone knows it....but go ahead and start 10 more threads on it before the regular season starts with multiple trading options from your fantasy world.

I hope they bring in a third option with Bruce hurt...... it would make sense instead of sitting on their hands hoping for the best.
 
Let's face it, if Ben goes down, our season is done. It is time that we start looking for his future replacement. Until then, just make due.
