Tomlin sucks thread 11/6/16

Tomlin and Colbert wish they had 5 good picks in 4 years. Our drafts have been abysmal under Tomlin/Colbert. I think it is much more on player development as I find it hard to believe you miss on that many first and second round picks.

Or that Colbert suddenly forgot how to draft in 2008. Since the Cowher/Donawho thing went down, the HC has final say on draft choices. Colbert and his staff doing the scouting and put their board together, but if Tomlin wants someone and he's there, that's who we are taking.

That's why he only started here for two seasons, although in 1999 he had 6 sacks, that's more than that trash Jarvis Jones has in his career and we still trot him out there every Sunday.

Not even the WR's are better, give me Ward over Brown every day, Brown is super athletic, but Ward hated to lose and laid it on the line every game, not to mention we had Holmes too.

This is a key. The steelers used to have guys who were highly competitive and wanted to win the Super Bowl at all costs. They would hold themselves accountable, challenge each other. You don't have to be a rah rah guy. Polamalu was a leader by example. And we had a guy like Porter who was more vocal.

i look at this team and i see a bunch of guys who lose a game and they are fine with it so long as they personally had a good game.

Mike Mitchell is a huge problem. Safety is usually a leader on defense. He's the only real vet in the secondary. Young guys look to him and what do they see? They see a selfish player, looking to be a headhunter, taking horrible angles. He misses 5 plays due to a bad angle but then on play 6 he manages to make his big hit and he's celebrating like he just won the game.

Antonio has a bit of this as well. In his case, at least he does make enough plays to tolerate his selfishness.

We hear all the time that "the standard is the standard". The Steelers problem is they have too many guys whose goal is simply to play to the standard, and not to play their best. That's how they end up playing to the level of their competition each game.

The guys definitely aren't fine with it. Davis could be heard screaming in anguish from the showers before he came back out to talk to reporters

"the standard is the standard"..

I vehemently hate that expression as it is flawed to the core. If a back-up QB is as good as the starting QB he is not going to be a back-up he is going to be a starter elsewhere. Same goes for any position. The line and the bar of expectations does change when you have to put a back-up in. You may not like it, but it does change to a degree. If the standard is the standard do you hold Tee Martin to the same standard as Ben Roethlisberger? If so, then why do you modify the game plan to be more conservative when Tee is in the game? Because the standard is not really the standard, but it makes for a good cliche.

Antonio Brown has the best work ethic of any Steeler to ever play the game. The guy spends hours and hours perfecting his craft. I'll take AB over Hines every day of the week. Hines was amazing and I love him but he could never make the plays AB does on the regular basis.

Carlos Emmons sucked when he started for us and Philly.

He'd be our best OLB on the team in 1998 and 1999.

Emmons was decent enough. He started 121 games in the NFL. 19 sacks, 6FF's and 5 interceptions. Not a star, but solid all around in his prime.

That water must have been cold then. Either that or reality.

No doubting his work ethic, he learned from Ward, but it's his will and desire I question. Ward put up great numbers with **** qb's on a run first team and was a great big game receiver, Brown has had a HOF QB and a pass first league, and disappears without Ben

so a rookie was upset, but Mike Mitchell was fine with it i bet. As i said, there are no leaders on this team.

These guys don't care , we as fans are more upset after a loss than these guys. Win , lose , draw they get paid. I was pissed and am still pissed but I used to be much worse after a loss. Until I actually listen to some of the things that were being said after a loss , its standard blah blah boiler plate bullshit no emotion say the right things you think people wanna hear. If they don't get all worked up about it why should I. I'm done caring after seeing how this team (if you can even call them that) deals with the losses why should I care.

Cries of anguish emanated from the shower.

Players whispered in a rookie's ear after his mistake led to the stunning loss.

"Devastated,"*Mike Mitchell*said after the Dallas Cowboys scored a touchdown with nine seconds left to beat the stunned*Steelers, 35-30.

"Before that last series," said Mitchell, "I said 'We don't need heroes. We just need execution,' and we got a little out of whack, came up a gap short. Can't do that at the end of the game. You've just got to execute. Sometimes you get in nut-cutting crunch time and you think you've got to do something extra, when in all reality you've just got to trust your coaches and trust your brothers around you that if I do my job we'll be more than fine. I think if we had the right attitude, we can use this as a learning experience.

"Obviously it's a devastating loss. It's a huge setback for us. But 4-5, the door's not all the way closed. I'm still trying to find a way to see light, besides the light that's in my eyes right now."

colbert sucks too...it's time we look for a new GM.

not so sure he is getting his way now compared to years past.....either that or Cowher had excellent decision making..........

Player quotes - sounds like they are begging for some good coaching.

This is a great breakdown of the Steelers under MT. He's correct.

Sounds like Mitchell thinks other guys messed up but not him and then a bunch of Tomlin-esque jibber jabber.

Newsflash Mike, you just described yourself pal. YOU are the guy who often doesn't do his job because you're looking for that big hit so you can pose. That Zeke screen pass TD is on YOU. Your brothers could not depend on you being in your right spot.

i will believe Mitchel is "devastated" when he stops making the same mistakes over and over, until then it's just lip service.

For the 2nd time in a week Ben has made a comment about the team being undisciplined and not being held accountable. Hell he even mentioned coaching directly when questioning what the problem could be. It definitely seems to be 2 direct jabs at Tomlin and how he is handling business. If the face of the franchise is not happy combined with poor performances on the field, that seat is gonna start getting warmer....even in Pittsburgh.

There isn't one unit on this team really that is better than what was here when Tomlin took over.
To be fair, Tomlin did tell at Boz for kicking it out if bounds

WRs, and I'm serious. I can't stand Tomlin and want him gone, but he (if I'm gonna blame him, also have to give credit when do) done a great job of finding good receivers.
