Tomlin sucks thread 11/6/16

Not only that, but Tomlin's record, against losing teams, prior to this year, had been like 25% against horrid teams, not like the Fins or Ravens of this season. Last year we lost to a 1-5 KC team. Sure they got better as the season progressed, but losing to a 1-5 team? Unforgivable. In 2014, we lose to an 0-3 Bucs team, and to the pathetic Browns and Jets. Try defending that. In 2013 we go down to the Titans, Bears, Raiders and Fins, all bad teams at the time. In 2012, we go down to Raiders, Titans and Browns. Pathetic.

There really is no defending Tomlin's horrid job as head coach when facing terrible teams, most of the time with a franchise QB. When your own QB openly questions the team's ability to be accountable and feel urgency, who exactly is in charge of those areas? Why, it is undoubtedly the head coach, and this one ***** the bed way too often on those fronts.
when you are just talking football you usually are spot on...............

I am not supporting or saying I am a Tomlin Supporter, but losing brings negative comments. Being in the Baltimore market, when Ravens win; Harbaugh is a great coach, when they lose, he has lost his team, can't coach, out coached every week, never makes adjustments and talks down to media..... sound familiar?

he is ALWAYS a great coach here.

Shoot after 4 straight losses, he wins two games (one against the browns and one against the most shittily coached team in the league) and we have a thread that he has the ravens trending up. Of course, they haven't beat one team that has a winning record, but, well, nvm. Then the Cowboys come to town.

What does it matter if a team gets better AFTER you play them? Has no bearing at all on the team that you played that week. Are we the same team with Landry Jones at QB then we are with Ben at QB?

Sure it matters, unless you have a preconceived bias. Lets say, for instance, you are playing, as a wild example, a 1-5 team. This also happens to be the first game of the season where they have had a healthy starting OL, you know, hypothetically. After they beat you, they run off 4 other straight wins.

To continue the hypothetical, lets say that the QB Rating for the QB in the games prior to the Steelers games averaged 81 while, the 5-0 run the average is over 100.

So, was the team you played the 1-5 team or the team that has gone 5-0? You think that **** ain't relevant?

The team that you played was 1-5. I don't care if Jesus Christ came back to earth and took over at QB and they run the table after that, the team that you faced was a 1-5 team. Under Tomlin we never beat a team the way you should beat a team. Hell, even against the sorry *** browns it was still up in the air until the 4th qtr. Tomlin said it himself after the Ravens game, he bases his offensive game plan off of what the other team is doing offensively. Not what works best for us, or what is not working, but what the other team is doing against us. He will continue to pound that round peg into the square hole and will never admit it is the wrong peg. We have 1 (gifted) playoff win since 2010, but yeah, the arrow is definitely pointing up.

Nobody gives a **** what your record is in week 2 or week 7 or any other week. It only matters how you finish. Do you have a winning record? Do you make the playoffs? You judge every team by there season of work not individual weeks. Teams go,up and down based on schedule and injuries. The only really bad team we lost to this year is the Ravens. You can judge the season after it's over with.

LMAO, keep telling yourself that, whatever lets you sleep at night. The Eagles and Dolphins are both bad teams. If we lose to the Colts this week without Luck playing and the Colts still make the playoffs this year does that mean the Colts were a playoff team when we played them?

How about losing to the 0-4 KC cheifs. They ended up making the playoffs. It's not who you play, it's when you play them. Steelers have been banged up, and haven't been playing up to their potential. I like their chances moving forward, though not having Heyward does hurt.

that is just bullshit you use to back up your preconceived opinion . that was CLEARLY not a 1-5 team.

Pot meet kettle. I suppose they were a 5-1 team and the official score keeper just ****** up the book keeping. Once again, if we lose to the Colts without Luck this week and they go on to make the playoffs once he comes back, did we get beat by a playoff team? I think it is just the bullshit that Tomlin's fan club comes up with to try and justify getting beat by ****** teams each and every year.

I sleep well every night win or lose. And nothing you say or post on here will ever change that. It's the NFL all games count. What the teams record is when you play them don't mean ****. The most important games are division and conference. How many wins or losses that team has is totally irrelevant when you play them. That's just something spoiled fans look at to ***** about. And if it wasn't that they would find something else. Happy Thanksgiving ! Go Steelers !

Yeah, the chuck and pray offense seems effective.

you keep our O coordinator let him pick the D coordinator

why wouldn't that work?

If you say no, then your entire argument is flawed.

it goes into seeding. By losing more than you should have, it turns into mediocrity.

Then you are never a top seed but fighting just to get into the payoffs, if you are lucky.

That is what this team is showing.

Eat up !

I'm not making a argument. I made a statement. My opinion. Not a right or wrong answer. If we beat them without Luck and they make the playoffs they were a playoff team when we played them. We are playing the Colts not the Lucks. They are 53 men on that team.

I was not trying to defend anyone just pointing out that the stat of what their record was when you played to me is far less meaningful than what their record ends up. Just my opinion of course and without doing same research I can not tell you exactly what it would produce for stats for or against Tomlin long term just that this year I think the crying over losing to bad teams is misplaced. Not that it makes any difference but it is part of the argument being made. I am not a Tomlin fan I am not a Tomlin hater I am a Steeler fan. As I don't think he is going anywhere I don't see the point in getting to excited bashing him in the way many do. He is what he is and for now we have to live with it.

I don't have a preconceived opinion other than the people here don't know as much as they think they do. The love fest for the Harbaugh s is the only proof you need for that.

Did the eagles score keeper mess up? They were undefeated when we played them. They may suck now, but...well, you know the rest Mr. Kettle.

Your logic is flawed. I've shown you a specific example of a team that was 1-5 with game 6 being the first game where the OL was healthy and played together. Since that game, the team is undefeated, RB has had 2 200 yard rushing games and the very average qb has an avg rating over 100. What is different about the team that went 1-5 vs the team that played us? They win 5 straight by luck? Of course not. They clearly got better with a healthy OL.

You want to imagine we play a team without their starting qb and possibly, CB, and compare that to the same team WITH those players. You know, the exact opposite of what actually happened.

There are problems with both methods of looking at it. The best way, of course, us to look at it logically and see what was going on at the time.

For an extreme example, if a team is 10-0 and their starting D all gets suspended for the next game and you beat them that game, did you REALLY beat an undefeated team. Technically, but I don't know why it would make a difference to you considering the circumstances.

Suppose in game 3 you play a winless team and lose. Their first 2 games were against teams that finish 14-2 or better and that team finishes 14-2. Sure, you lost to a winless team, but that has no bearing on how good the team is.

his teams produce.......... regardless how many dislike him
One of them as so great, his team couldn't wait to get rid of him. The minute bowman, iupati and fuckcantremembertheotherLBname (drafted by prior coach) his team goes .500 and his FO can't get rid of his face fast enough.

Look at the other's record this year and tell me you'd be happy with that. Not one win against a team with a winning record with a loss to the jests. 2 of their 5 wins against the 0-10 Browns and if I'm not mistaken, had to come from behind to win one of those. ****** Tomlin had the Steelers with 45 seconds of beating a 7-1 team. JH team "produced" 17 pts. You good with that?

Yes, and Tomlin's ****** defense gave up 80 yards and a TD in 42 seconds. With James Harrison riding the pine on the game winning drive. Close only counts in Horseshoes, hand grenades, and **** flinging. :smile-new:
