The senior bowl measurements, practices and game thread.

The timeline shows I liked Watt very early in the process. I did a film review on him as well. If you want to read it, I'll look for it. Like I said, there are lots of guys you like if you follow the process. What matters most to me is who I would have drafted the day of the draft, which is what I say.

Over the years I hated the Hood, Jones, Golson and Burns picks...,gee they didn't do so well. Not a fan of the Davis pick either.

This is not to say I don't like some of the Steeler early picks. Watt for example.

Uhuh I stand by what I said.

Again, you were not "right" on Golson. you thought he was injury prone because of his size. The injury that kept him out of football had zero to do with this size.

from my earlier post

Clearly this was AFTER drafting Burns.

Again I though the pick sucked. Was I correct? Golson was too small. A slot only type. Horrible pick in round two. I felt he was injury prone. Guy could't even make it though a camp.

But this year, Colbert seems to have got it right scooping up Cockrell for nothing and drafting Burns.

How can you read this as "i thought the pick sucked"?

you said Golson was injury prone due to his size. His size has zero to do with his injury.

That twitter talks about a database but i have yet to figure out wtf they are going on about

This put a puts a draft prospect in a tight spot as he has to trash his brother. Probably 50% of the league is for taking a knee, Ark. Remember the Steelers voted on that crap and stay in the locker room beat out stand on the field! does this mean the Steelers should drop those in favor of it? Ark, please answer that question. We might have 50% or more of the team supporting his brother.

And to think you finally owned up to your error on Polamalu, only to revert back to your ignorant opinions about made up events.

It has been addressed numerous times the vote for the anthem issue was unanimous. Everyone was standing. However the players also decided not to provide attention to showcase either side for the cameras, and all players stood in the tunnel. However, Al requested to be in front with the captains so he could see the colors (a serviceman’s right regardless of anyone’s stance). The captains approved Al’s request and he was there with Ben and Cam in the front. The anthem included on the field a large flag to be unraveled by field personnel during the procession. During the process of field personnel getting to their places from the tunnel, Al got separated by some 50 ft because the rest of the team was pushed back into the tunnel. That 50 ft came with about 25 photogs who were there to capture the protest (that never happened) but got Al by himself during the anthem.

Please list the link that any Steeler player had chose to kneel, as all reports noted the decision was unanimous by all players to stand. I also would like the link that states 50% of the league at that time was for taking the knee.

Again I though the pick sucked. Was I correct? Golson was too small. A slot only type. Horrible pick in round two. I felt he was injury prone. Guy could't even make it though a camp.

More made up BS. Golson never had any injury history at Ole Miss. None. His role was to be the nickel back who made plays because of his ball skills (10 INTs as a Senior and was a All-American) which were tremendous in college. He suffered a freak shoulder injury during non-contact drills after OTAs, was put on the PUP list, and the shelved because of the severity, which included surgery. Year two, another freak injury this time a Linsfranc, he was listed for possible IR reinstatement designation, but couldn’t practice in time and placed on IR again a month after the season started. Year three in 2017, he suffered another injury on the first day of contact practices during camp. He was carted off because of the injury (groin/leg) and was part of the last cuts that year. He had the worst luck at the worst time, but it allowed a certain FA to make the team who played Golson’s role for him (Mike Hilton).

You say the picked sucked. Yet he never got a chance to play because of injury. Who knows how he would have contributed had he never got injured. To say he was injury prone after being drafted was BS, since he never was injured before. You weren’t correct on that pick, there is no justification to it because he never played a live snap because of injuries. I guess Reinstra was a pick that sucked too by your logic.

Was there anybody who didn't think TJ Watt would be good?
That's actually pretty interesting. Kinda reminds me of Kendrell Bell with his immediate impact, but you can't believe he lasted that long in the draft.

I really expected TJ, considering the pedigree, would be scooped up far before our pick.

BULLSHIT! The vote for the anthem issue was unanimous? WRONG. Show me this. Villanueva did not vote to stay in the tunnel. Your 100% wrong, Tomlin asked for team unity, majority vote ruled. It was close vote.

1 ) The pick sucked, Ike.
2 ) If you know anything about football, the man was built like a stick, and that is injury prone in the NFL.
3 ) If you watched his film, he was burned twice badly by Coates. He was a small slot only type. Never do that in round two.
4 ) He was short, with short arms and not enough speed to make up for it.

That must be full of sarcasm as there were many on here that didn't want Watt. I know I am glad we got him. He is just scratching the surface of his talent.

Correct, and on that note, is anyone watching the senior bowl practices or looking at the prospects on film?

Here's how it went down.

Please read, and make a statement that you were wrong!!! The vote was very much split.

The vote was split nearly in half, Hubbard said. . Sensabaugh confirmed the narrow majority. You still think it was 100%??!!

Let me guess, your a take a knee kind of guy?

You say the pick sucked, you say this and that but have only your opinion to back it up. That’s fine. It’s your opinion....asinine as it is.

I would say the pick for the player itself is incomplete because the player was never able to get on the field. Sure, that’s a pick used with no results, but you are an idiot to think otherwise without hindsight.

“Built like a stick”......Hahahaha. Yep, that’s a solid evaluator there people. Tool.

And please stop with the you “watched film” or your attempt to embolden yourself as a player evaluator just because you are watching three days of Senior Bowl practices on ESPN. You aren’t an evaluator Coach, you are a fan of the sport. That’s it. If you think you have credence to your opinion, have your findings published. Then you can say you put forth the effort. Otherwise, just keep looking at your life size cardboard cutout of yourself and dream.

I remember TMC was calling for Bell during the lead up to the draft, if that guy could've stayed healthy, him alongside Farrior for 6-8 years, wow. Hampton and Bell in the first two rounds, damn.

I wanted Watt because he loves the game and has a passion for it, that was just as important as his stats.

You are such the idiot. You can’t even read your own article. The vote split half for standing on the sideline or not standing on the sideline.

The idea of showing standing/kneeling was eliminated immediately.

As for what happened, I’ll take reference from the man himself...

http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ittsburgh-steelers-standing-alone-intentional

So it is you, again, who is wrong. Thanks for keeping your streak intact.

To accuse someone in reference to beliefs about the kneeling stance (which it is assumed you are against), yet idolize a player who is the exact opposite of yours and admits that player should have been a 1st round pick when all the professionals thought otherwise.....twice, just shows your stupidity free and clear.

On a more serious note. To question political ideal is one thing, but if you are going to question my patriotism, you’ve just shown what type of *** you are. Coach if you weren’t so stupid I’d feel sorry for you and I question your cognizance. But, the lucid thoughts you bare..just proves your ignorance and narcissism. Keep your politics on the Politics board.

Get help fast! Players voted on whether to stand or not Ike. Majority ruled. It was a close vote moron, meaning many wanted to stand. And not everyone stayed in the locker room. Big Al did not.

Tomlin, Running backs coach James Saxon, offensive coordinator Todd Haley and offensive line coach Mike Munchak stood in the middle of the sideline while his players stood elsewhere. Aren't they Steelers too?

I'd challenge you to a battle of wits, but I can see your unarmed.

You can speak for yourself. Are you for the Take a knee movement or not? You were the one who made this an issue here, so the question is fair game.

Players voted on whether to stand in the tunnel or on the sideline. The vote for kneeling was not part of the vote. If you would learn to read you would understand the context of the vote had nothing to do with kneeling, it was where the players would be....standing.

I already posted Al’s comments. Read them.

The majority of the coaching staff is on the field before the players because they are there to test the communications equipment and other logistics. Tomlin said as much during his weekly presser You absent minded idiot.

Sure challenge me all you want...keyboard warriors like yourself have no facet of understanding the basic principles of being an adult. It’s too bad you are allowed to vote.....or are you?

enough of the bullshit about the kneeling or who voted what way regarding the anthem. This is about football, stick to the game not the political bullshit

CoolieMan how much have you seen of the Houston Cougar DB, I think his name is Isaiah Roberts.

CoolieMan how much have you seen of the Houston Cougar DB, I think his name is Isaiah Roberts.

I've seen every down he played at UH. His name is Isaiah Johnson, converted WR, played two years at CB. Measured 6'2" 203#s with 3 5/8 inch arms. Not sure of his 40 speed, but the next gen stats at Senior Bowl practice had him as the fastest on the South squad at 21.7 mph. My guess is he will run the 40 in the low 4.4s.

The kid is tall and fast, but still raw in his technique. I'm not a great judge of skills, but from what I've seen he has smooth hips but his footwork needs to be coached up. Reports are he had some good practices this week at the Senior Bowl. He is a decent tackler but could be more aggressive making contact.

Going in to the Senior Bowl I figured he was a 5th or 6th round option. But with his size and speed and if he shows well tomorrow in the Senior Bowl, maybe he moves up to a second day choice....

I agree with most of this. Having seen the senior bowl practices, Johnson didn't stand out much, but he has upside. He's not an Ike Taylor type of player, as Taylor was very fast and extra strong, but I think I Johnson could make a good free safety. The type that can cover man deep. At Corner, I think he would struggle vs. physical receivers.

On DB's very few impressed me at the senior bowl.

Instincts and ability to learn are the key for Johnson. I think he goes by round four based on his upside and his athletic traits fit the modern NFL and the way the game is played & called.
