The Rooney's were determined to hire...

JUST to be clear,.........It wasn't JUST the replacement of one player with a third tier player that lost that game. If ONE player makes that much difference on that unit, then God forbid the shitfest of coaching involved in that Defensive unit.

Salute the nation

I disagree. It was not just one player it was a particular skill set lacking in any other player we had. He was the leader of the defense he was the X factor for good and bad. His loss not only changed the skill level but also changed what we could call. So for those reasons his loss was felt more than would normally be warranted by the loss of one player other than a QB.

I was very happy with the hire. I thought Tomlin would continue the tradition of great coaches. He started out strong. Time for him to go now. Not a black thing, more of a Tomlin sucks thing.

We are running out of time to get to the Super Bowl and with Tomlin the time is moving faster, why so many cannot see getting to the playoffs and going home first game means zero.

he also gets over powered in the run game very over rated by steeler fans just like timmons was

His biggest asset was his speed, especially to the edge. Hard to turn the corner with 50 gettin' there first. The rest I agree with. He overran plays sometimes because he was too fast and he was a little light in the *** for clogging the middle against the bigger RB's. Good player but let's not get too carried away with the accolades.

Most of us were but those who wish to discount his race are being a little bit disillusion IMO. Remember, this was right after Dan pushed the league hard to implement his Rooney Rule. How would it look to the rest of the league if the very team owner pushing for reform, ignored the very premise he was pushing for and hired an "in house" candidate.

Couldn't, wouldn't and more over probably shouldn't.

Would much rather have Timmons than any of the drudge that was in at ILB against the Jags.

Ummm. How about currently? How many years has Tomlin been doing this? !0 years? 11 years?

Denver....Nope
Baltimore...LOL...Really?They are huge under achievers.
Seattle...Nope
Colts....LOL What has Luck ever done?
Giants....They are in sad shape
Packers...Probably the most inconsistant most hyped team out there.
NO....what have they done that is better than Tomlin?

I stopped Belicheat and the Pats. Your list show a bunch of teams that have some big up years and some big downs years. A few are off the map right now. Actually your list is pretty bad. Sorry dude.

Actually, Mike McCarthy was hired by the Packers in 2006 and has a very similar resume:

.633 regular season winning percentage (Tomlin .659)
.556 postseason winning percentage (Tomlin .533)
8 seasons with 10 or more wins (Tomlin 8)
3 seasons with 8 or more losses (Tomlin 2)
3 playoff 1-game-and-outs (Tomlin 4)

And, oh yeah, what he did better than Tomlin was winning the lwoB repuS when their teams played head-to-head. Yet in your mind, the Packers are inconsistent and over-hyped...so what does that make Mikey and his Steelers?
