Ditto. He has 0 chance to be the backup and the only way he leap frogs Rudolph is if Roethlisberger goes down and Rudolph fails to move the offense for 2-3 games I could then see him get a shot at the thrown. But that is assuming he beats Dobbs out for #3. We all gotta remember that Roethlisberger utilizes Dobbs to help analyze the defense. Haskins literally ran the wrong play while the rest of the team ran the right play. So I very much doubt Haskins is going to help analyze a defense with Roethlisberger anytime soon.I see Haskins being made to “prove it” this year. IF he does, then NEXT year is where he gets to take a shot at it. The Steelers gave him a chance to prove he ready to compete once Ben is gone, not before.
I do feel the coaching staff likes Haskins upside so if he and Dobbs are a tie I feel the upside of Haskins beats out Dobbs. But there is a snowballs chance in HELL that Haskins is the #2 QB this year. I feel Rudolph gets starter snaps in game 3 again and in game 4 they probably only have Rudolph play a series and then let Haskins and Dobbs play the rest. But by that time I feel the team will have decided between Haskins and Dobbs for #3. I also don't see Dobbs making it on the PS.
