Steelers trading up rd 2

I like Eric Rowe as well.....be kind of surprised if we traded up for anything but secondary help. However, I wouldn't be totally bummed with Diggy or Gregory either.

Thats the thing though- Maxx isnt the the type of the NFL TE.

He is no where near the physical specimen of a Gronk/Graham. He is not that big and certainly not that fast.

No, all reports on Williams is he's very athletic, causes match-up problems, and has good speed for a TE. Size wise he's 6-4"" 250 not the biggest TE but not bad size either. Sure he's not the Gronk/Graham TE size wise but the guy could add a new dimension to an already very good offense. He has good speed and would pose matchup problems to defenses. However I'm not endorsing that pick if they move up to the Titan's spot. I would go Landon Collins, Eric Rowe or even Randy Gregory.

One other thing to think about based on what is left in the corner and safety field is do they stand pat thinking that the guy they want will fall to them. There could be running backs, linemen, and wide outs grabbed in large numbers here and the guy they want may drop. Top four corners already gone many according to the steelers board over drafted, if what has been talked about is correct.

One thing to keep in mind with the media folks is they have no regard for anything factual and will just say things to see if anyone will run with it. We just recently had a couple talking about Antonio Brown being a hold out, the Vikes trading Peterson and a couple of others just to create noise on the media channels with their name on it. They just had some talking head talk about Dupree at 290 lbs and that is the fastest 20 lb weight gain I have ever heard of.

I don't know how serious we are about really trading up that far but if they somehow manage to move up to me the guy I think they have their sights on is Landon Collins. We need a replacement for Troy and this guy would be a great addition. Reminds me of Cam Chancellor who is a an extremely physical player. I have a feeling this is their guy but he won't be their if they stand pat.

Correct. And the Bucs are 100% taking him if he's there. That's why we're trying to get ahead of them.

Report: Steelers interested in trading up to No. 33 in 2015 NFL Draft

Some possible choices include Utah's Eric Rowe or LSU's Jalen Collins, two big, physical corners that were mentioned as possible first-round talents in the weeks leading up to Thursday's draft. The bigger question: Is moving up worth it?

The Steelers traded up in the fourth round of the 2013 draft to take safety Shamarko Thomas, and it cost them a 2014 third-round pick. Thomas has battled injuries but he'll get a chance to start this season. Still, questions remain, so much so that there was plenty of pre-draft speculation that the Steelers might take Alabama safety Landon Collins at No. 22.

In addition to picks, Pittsburgh could also ship linebackers Vince Williams or Sean Spenceto Tennessee in order to move to the front of the line on Friday night. Details via Dale Lolley of the Observer-Reporter:

I doubt it would be for either of the Collins. Jalen Collins failed multiple drug tests in college and i believe they took him off their board. I think they are going with Shamarko and Mitchell as the safeties. The only talk of change there has been Mitchell possibly moving to SS and that dont fit because Landon Collins projects as a SS also. My money is on Rowe. Ive read a few articles claiming that the steelers had a 1st round grade on him and had him possibly as the 4th best CB on their board.

For a pick that high it would likely have to be a first rd pick next year.

I'm sure a lot would say that, but I never been a fan of Timmons. He gets soo much hype because he makes a ton of tackles, we had close to the worst defense last year so how many of those tackles really mattered? He doesn't get sacks, he doesn't get interceptions, he doesn't block or break up passes.. All he does is tackle. He's paid way too much for what he does.. But just my opinion.

Uh what about when we had great defenses?

The guy has 28 sacks and 9 interceptions during his career. Inside linebackers in a 34 aren't the meat. Its the OLB that are supposed to get the high sack numbers. Timmons has had over 100 tackles the last three years.

Fatten up the deal with trade bait and see. we got too many LB's that can't play..sell Jarvis.

thank heaven

When did we have a great defense with Timmons? We usually always had "the best run defense" with Lebeau because his defense was soo easy to throw on, even then Timmons was never great.

I would take a Jarvis for Odighizuwa trade. Slide Diggy over to his natural spot at LOLB and move Dupree to ROLB. We would have the best linebacker core in the league, locked and loaded.

2008 we had quite possibly the best defense since the 70's.

In 2008 I don't think they let up over 300 yards total offense until late in the season. That's unheard of in this day and age.

There is no one in the draft at this time worth next years number one pick absolutely no one. So if that is the price stand pat and do with out. With the schedule we have and the state of the team we will likely be drafting close to the top ten and maybe in the top ten. The team is rebuilding and you do not accomplish that reaching for players and trading away next years number one for this years number two. If something costs more than it is worth don't buy it.

Touche. But I still don't like him lol, I know this could go 20 pages so I don't want to sidetrack this thread. But he has his strengths and weaknesses.

I agree Wingman, I see enough talent still on the board at our 2nd round pick that I don't see any super duper reason to move up at this point. But again, if for whatever reason the Steelers have identified some "must have" prospect, I would applaud them being agressive in moving up for him. I'm just a little nervous about who that player may be....
