Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

I personally think he should have a RB number. First there are only 2 other RBs on the team and a stable of WRs. Second when he steps on to a field, the RB number may confuse a Defense and place slower men to guard him during a shift.

Now personnel wise, I don't know how the league will enforce the number worn by Archer. Does he have to line up more as a WR than a RB now? If that is the case, it is a disservice to have him wear a WR number. I believe the mismatches made with him lining up in the backfield, increase his success to lining up as a WR. He can move to the slot from the backfield in motion, but I don't like the idea of him just standing in the slot from set to snap. This kid needs to be in constant pre-snap motion to utilize his speed and mismatches appropriately.

Additionally, I perceive he is better as a receiving RB than he is as a formal WR. He'll have greater success over LBs and Safeties than he will over Corners.

I think Archer is on this team because Haley made the most noise about how much he needed a guy like him in the offense. This also points to why Lebeau did not make it as a head coach. He's too laid back and willing to watch things play out. They give him **** to work with and he figures out a way to make it work.

lebeau should have been pounding the table for some secondary help and a pass rusher.

Or maybe Lebeau saw that the team used its 1st two picks for his defense and was very much content

Tape, that sounds like a terribly forced argument, seeing the Steelers go defense 1st and 2nd rounds, then add a CB, LB and a NT later on. Color me confused, you wanted defensive players rounds 1 through 7? LeBeau got not one, but two plug-n-play guys at the very top of the draft...I think he's more than happy with that.

I think that tape is right that this was a Haley pick. Although, if you NEED one of those to make your offense "work", you may need to reevaluate your design.

I disagree that Lebeau was too laid back to more strongly fight for a defensive player.

Bermuda broke the "Haley" pick comment back on page 1 or 2 or 3 or 4...

Well, somewhere back in time...

Bermuda, we don't need you to compete with Idiot over self-backslaps.

No way in hell could Bermuda win that competition. Idiot is the World Champion self-backslaps

Sitting here watching the 2008 Super Bowl. It was on NFL Network the other day. DVR'ed it. Provided he can get on the field Archer could be deadly with Ben when the play breaks down and Ben is doing his Tarketon impression.

I smell a lot of WR & RB screens in Archers future. In excited because having someone like him makes the defense spread out a little more. Have to be accountable at all times to someone who runs that fast.

I predicted that Supe would post in this thread. Where's my kudos?

You must be tired from stuffing so many words into my mouth. Without any doubt? Expected to be perfect? I've said the opposite over and over again. And frankly, it's hard to take your opinion on any of this seriously, since you've told me that Colclough, McFadden, and Gilbert were a-OK second-round picks.

You've been lost in the woods this entire thread. And why are you so obsessed with my prognostication record? I've never made a claim as to whether it's perfect, good, mediocre, poor, anything.

I'm sorry, I was convinced you had been stating with utmost certainty we would rue the day we selected said individual. Perhaps I am mistaken, though it would look like given the rest of the replies here, I wasn't the only one who got that impression. Maybe we are all just misunderstanding you.

Probably, yeah. If you have any of those posts handy I can show you how to use the quote feature. But I can't recall doing anything but predicting Archer will wash out. If that's "stating with utmost certainty" to you then I can't help you and I hope you cover your eyes when reading the rest of this board. In fact, I've stated repeatedly that I actually don't know the future, nor am I a professional GM, nor do I care about the SN opinions of my prognostication. All of this "utmost certainty" is just fuzz from the pom poms being wiggled.

Post it so we can all see your a liar and a douchebag. Lmao. I told you everytime you make up **** the dick on your forehead gets bigger Dicknocchio.

I'm waiting right alongside you. Can't wait to see all of my Archer guarantees. I know I once said Archer has no chance at 9 touches a game as a rookie. That must be what he's referring to. It's akin to saying Bryant has no chance at 150 catches this year.

I'm also excited for you to tell me all the **** I've "made up." Can't wait!

if I find these, is it considered stalking since you issued the challenge?

Glowing Review of Dri Archer said:
Sorry, but I can't get on board with the pick. Not in the slightest.

The best season by a RB under 180 in the last 10 years was by McCluster. He ran for 500 yards and 1 TD, then was moved to slot WR. So I doubt he was drafted to be a RB, and if he was, then that's mind-bendingly stupid. Especially considering we drafted a three-down RB in the second last year, and he was impressive.

He's way too small to be a WR. I hate to say that, but what DBs are he going to beat at 5'7 173? So he wasn't drafted for that.

Kickoffs are being phased out and will be gone completely in a few years, so he wasn't drafted for that (I hope). And for those who want him returning punts, note that he never did that in school. Returning punts is hard; you don't just run in a straight line in shorts.

Throw in the fact that he's a world-class fumbler. 13 fumbles in 400 some odd touches. And he's as injury-prone as his frame suggests. So what's the role? All I can say is yikes.

yep. Idiot never said that Dri would absolutely and totally suck.
just that he's never done anything but suck.

45 pages of crap over a 3rd rd pick?

hahahahahaha

Ben finger-banging that little drunk ***** in the toilet never got this much coverage

hahaha
