I'll give you a real life example, back in 1999, a bunch of dickwads were running around convincing everyone that **** was going to go batshit crazy at midnight new years eve, because of y2k. I was in the computer industry, and watched these hacks running everywhere spreading all this bullshit. Then the new year came, and even though I'd been telling people there would be a very minimal impact, and most systems were ready, there was still total ******* hysteria. Then y2k happened, and all the prognosticators of the apocalypse vanished. I took to a few sites to try to call them out on their bullshit, and was met with a resounding "Oh, how could they have known? People are only human after all, stop being so mean". Uh, what the ****?
THIS is the problem, people in general will go on and ******* on about how they just know this or that for a fact, blah blah blah, then when it doesn't happen this or that way, it's an "Oops, sorry, everyone makes mistakes" The problem is, while you're going on and on, people ARE in fact remembering what you're going on about, and occasionally they come back and say "Hey, remember when you just kept saying that thing again and again, and now how you're wrong about it" The standard reply is 'OH my GOD? That was FOREVER ago, I mean really MOVE ON ALREADY". My response is, if you don't want people tossing your old **** back at you because you don't like the smell, the keep it to yourself next ******* time.
