Steelers select Dri Archer in Round 3

I definitely DO NOT want him to fail. I think he will fail for reasons I am not going to rehash but I absolutely want him to be a quality NFL player. I want him to define a new niche and be a better version that what he was in college. That would be awesome. I don't hate him in any way. Really, I don't.

So, I don't agree with you diver. Even with Jarvis, I want him to do well even if I HATED that pick with every fiber of my being. I think we have already seen what Jarvis is going to be in the NFL BUT BUT BUT I actually want him to prove me wrong because it helps the Steelers. Love to see 10 sacks from him his year. I would love that, even if I hate the pick.

So you're saying you want them to want Archer to fail?

Huh?

All I am saying is that I have fallen into the trap of wanting a failure so I could say I was right. Maybe I shouldn't have lumped anyone else in with me. Maybe I am the only person ever who has felt that way. Maybe I am the only one willing to admit it.

I have no expectations for Archer, good or bad. Fact is, I just don't know. I haven't taken a position on Archer one way or the other.

I'm only goofing. Just saying for your theory to be true, you would have to be rooting for those who don't like Archer to root for him to fail.

I don't want any Steelers to fail. I've watched this team since the early 70s and have never wanted them to lose a single game. But it doesn't mean that I agree with everything they do. I don't see the point in even having a board if people can't discuss the merits of a player. Yes, it has all be rehashed to death but I'd rather have that than a bunch of "wow he is great" posts when many people have evaluated him and truly don't believe he was the right pick.

nobody wants him to fail.

Bullshit. You can't ream guys as hard as some of these ************* have reamed guys like Timmons, and not be hopping up and down when/if they **** up. I just don't think it's possible. I mean, for ***** sake, when you're here saying "Well, he was drafted to play outside, and they moved him inside, so he's still a bust" for ***** sake, it's pretty obvious you're unhappy that he's turning out to be a good Linebacker, and you're hoping to muddy the waters with the "but that's not where he was PICKED to play" arguments.

Joe

"Wanting him to fail" is not anywhere close to being the same as "having many logical reasons to believe that he will fail."

I'm sure there's other sports news to discuss by now...

Crazy huh Berm, this gotta be a record for the most discussion about a third round pick.
68 pages consisting of almost 1400 comments about a guy that almost certainly is destined to be at best, a limited role player on the team...wow.

*walks in room, cracks open beer*

So uh, what's the scoop on this dri archer kid?

*ducks the rotten tomatoes*

That's the issue.

Even if the concerns over him breaking every rib in his body upon the first hard hit he takes aren't realized and he does fill his projected role well, it doesn't change the fact he was basically luxury pick at a time when the Steelers are not good enough to afford one, especially not with their third pick.

I would have rather seen them use the selection on a player with the potential to fill a larger, more substantial role in a year of two.

He would HAVE to Darren Sproles or Devin Hester to justify the pick, and I wouldn't get my hopes up in that regard, as he could just as easily be Chris Rainey.

Once again, time will tell. I see some splash, just hoping, they are for us!!!!
As for the length of this post, its swelled with non-relevant post(s). I'm guilty of
helping to extend, as others are as well.

Salute the nation

At 69 pages, this thread is now officially bigger than Dri Archer who measures just 68 inches.

This thread needs to be retired at the retired number for the Steelers. Come on Ernie!

Why it took nearly 70 pages to figure this out astounds me...

I believe what it all boils down to with Archer is, "can he help this Offense ?" Whats his big-play potential like ? Can he "turn a game" ?

He will at least make the board full of excitement every game day. Does he dress? Did he screw up? If he makes plays? If he get's hurt? It could be endless.

...It could be endless.

Nuck, nuck, nuck, nuck....

With Bell and Blount getting significant looks, I am thinking he sees some slot action. Maybe a play here and there at RB. KR of course.

Just don't see him getting a lot of looks.

Just too small and short stature.

Time for Bermuda to complain about how long the thread is and post a picture!
(He secretly bet I would make it to 169 by the end of the season)
Then someone post some racist ****!

Trindon Holliday would like to say hello to all his ******* before their bedtime.
