We can't keep em all, specially when you have a starting TE on probably a cheaper contract than what the outlaw is gonna get from the lions.

I'm expecting this free agency period to be very busy for the front office, hope they don't spend it with their thumb up their butt.

Same here. He really was a Heath clone in that he brought his lunch pail to work every day and worked his *** off. Hope great things come his way.

Ah, how cute. My ex-colleague had a stepson who's friend's cousin (I think) roomed with Le'Veon Bell and said that boy stunk to high heaven. Like 'put a clip on your nose while you sleep' he stank so bad. He also said he heard Ben was an *******.

Wasn't James one of the ones who called the Steelers the Kardashians? Thing is, Tomlin and Ben seemed to be the ones focused on football while Mr. Blond 'Stache was Face timing or Facebook videoing or whatever the hell they call it.

Steelers value TEs even less than #1 RBs and WRs....its a good move for him
 
Hate to see him go too. Good player, local guy (Glassport)….he contributed where he could. Got a kick out of the fans chanting HEEEAAATH whenever he made a catch (too funny)!!! Good luck Jessie.
 
I'd like to see the money he got. If it was reasonable then it was a mistake to let him go. He's not a top of the line TE and probably never will be but he's a good #2. He's reliable and Vance is injury prone.

TE is a position that usually takes years to learn at the NFL level. You can't assume a rookie can contribute immediately unless he's a 1st rounder and the steelers better not spend a 1st on a TE.

Seems they need to sign a free agent TE now, so why not just keep James?
 
Well they need a TE. Glass McDonald can not be counted on to make it through OTAs. Jesus they have a lot of work to do to put a decent team together.

Like I asked in a prior post, didn't he compare the Steelers drama to the Kardashians? If so, maybe he wanted to move on. I wish they kept him too, but there's so much we don't actually know. Maybe they have a FA target for TE?
 
Nice guy but he's Just A Guy.
 
I'm happy for the guy and hope that he gets plenty of playing time. Very underrated IMO and should have used him more in the red zone.

Sometimes the greats are arseholes.
There's a movie called The Best of Times starring Kurt Russell and Robin Williams.
In it, Williams' character and another guy on the team both make references to Russell playing/being better when he was an arsehole.
Having played multiple sports, and coached multiple teams, this is absolutely true.
I'll deal with an arsehole ON the field. This usually means they want to win and are ultra competitive. Most times.

Also, I've told the story on here before, but I spoke with Bruce Gradkowski since he's retired and after Haley was let go.
The gist of the story is Ben doesn't think he has to "answer" to certain players/coaches when asked questions or asked for explanations of plays/decisions.

And the steelers missed Spaeth when he was gone. They brought him back a few years later. James was a significant part of the offense. He does need to be replaced now.
