Round 3 Pick Diontae Johnson

I think he is a slot WR to start, I would have liked a little better production, but I know they had a raw QB in there......................

His stats a year earlier was more attractive.

I live here in Toledo and have seen this kid play.
For those whining about his 40 time. Go see what Antonio Clown clocked in at for his combine/proday.
Kid plays faster.
Maybe I’m a homer, and maybe it’s our penchant for MAC WRs hitting, but I like this pick.
We got a great return man, at the very least, right off the rip.
But I think he’ll be in the slot sooner rather than later.

Good anecdote from Steelers receivers coach Darryl Drake: He got colorful text messages from former boss Bruce Arians, who wanted to draft new Steeler Diontae Johnson. "He was a guy I wanted," Drake said.

I can’t believe we passed on Winovich

Reminds me of '99 when they were all chubby for David Boston, and with him gone they lunged at Troy Edwards... Leaving Jevon Kearse on the board.

The Titans were our 'cheats' in 99, so it makes cosmic sense that the cheats got Winovich. I mean, its the order of the Universe.

At least they didn't go all 'Troy Edwards' and lunge at this pipsqueak in the first round.

Dri Archer v.2.

His scouting report and physical traits read almost identical to Antonio Brown's, but Brown was an exception, as WRs with that size/speed ratio typically do not make much of an impact in the NFL.

The Steelers have earned the benefit of the doubt regarding WRs, but this is a questionable pick.

This was my take too... I usually buy a couple draft guides and i had him highlighted as a lower round chance I would like them taking.... he is brownish, but you aren’t catching lightning in a bottle twice in a row using a legacy pick from one wr to get another one as great or better.... they really should have traded down

Hard to imagine he wouldn't have been available at the next pick...real missed opportunity to improve D with Gardner-Johnson, Julian Love or Winovich. Well, that ruined the Bush-high I had been riding...

Totally agree, but at least having a little Johnson makes our Bush seem a lot bigger.

i so mad i could fight.
even if they loved this guy, they could have picked him at least 3 round later......

If you read this thread you’d know Tampa was taking him next. Therefore he wasn’t gonna be any where but Tampa

Was he injured last year? Looked at the stats and the numbers were way down from prior year.

That's another thing that bothers me about the pick.

It's beyond coincidence that they used the highest pick they received for Brown to draft a player exactly like him from a skill set standpoint.

If they truly felt Johnson was the best player relative to need, that 's fine, but I've come to question how Tomlin and Colbert approach these picks in the third and fourth round area.
