Roethlisberger, the exact oppoiste of Bell when it comes to contracts.

Why would he do that if he feels he is doing more then those guys. Obviously there is truth to that by the franchise tags he has received the last two years. No way the steelers tag him at those amounts of his arguement didnt have some merit. Have they been fair? I say so. Doesnt mean he has to take it though. Thats on him.. the steelers will move on..whats the big deal anyway?? We can plug anybody in and replace him right

Yes, with 14.5 million or whatever the exact cap about offered to Bell, we can easily replace him. The Steelers opted to tag him ( and they won't again ) for 1 year, gambling he won't get hurt or suspected again. I think they miscalculated on Bell being the type who uses social media to bad mouth his own team.

When Bell was hurt a very cheap and past his prime Williams easily replaced him, didn't he?

Easily replaced him no..he did some things well. Id rather of had Bell.

I do like a combination of Samuels and Connor going forward. Hope one of them.can pass block

For over all production vs $$$$.....yes. I think we can get more value out of his replacements. Not that Bell isn't great. He his. The replacements might not catch as many passes. Might not run for as many yards but dollar for dollar it will be a better option. I remember when people on here were crying about Wallace leaving. Who was going to replace all of those TD's he got? Well someone will. Someone will get us rushing yards. Someone will get us catches. And someone will get us the TD's. Just how it is.

just win this year and roll with Conner and Samuels and another back in the future.

And i agree. Everyone will move on. Always do.

Unfortunately, that's all that matters to a select few on here and they need to drag it into every thread. If Bell was white, his biggest supporter would be crucifying him the same way he does Ben. I remember when you used to be able to come on here to get good draft insight and player and team info, now it's just page after page of this bullshit. Maybe I'll check back in when training camp kicks off.

You can still get all the GREAT information you want as long as you can let a lot of stuff just slide off. There are many a VERY good knowledgeable poster(s) here and Beleive me, they are a wealth of information. Some bring in the BS and have to have the last word regardless................

Narrow down who / what you read and all is good............. I realize that's a hard thing to do though, considering

I don't give a **** what race any of these players are, so sick of hearing it

Sent from my XT1585 using Steeler Nation mobile app

Racist posters will continue throwing the **** in here unfortunately. We should have a no race baiting Steelers create a thread rule.

Has nothing to do with race.. There are a handful of players who have gotten paid on this team who are not nowwhere close the best at their position.. Heyward Tuitt Gilbert others.. Even Ben has never been considered the best QB in the league..all have signed monster deals but Bell who is the best at his position should take less because of the position he plays?? Yes i kmow the Steelers offered him way more then the position avergage. But most think he isnt worth that much and we should just pull that offer and use it the money elsewhere. In what universe has stephon tuiit done more then Bell??

So now you don't care what a player makes and don't understand why others do. Why exactly have you gone on and on over the past 2 offseasons worrying about the other fans worrying about what Bell wants?

Um because i think he is the best it one of the best in the business. Who helps this team win.. so i wished we could keep him. And seeing all the damage these guys take and now knowing the toll it takes on them i wish he gets as much as he can from whomever. I wish all football players contracts were guaranteed. I see everyone focused on the last paragraph of that Florio article when there was so much more to it. Just because i said i dont care doesnt mean i dont have that thoughts about it. Taking thing too literal. Im on here to past time. When i say i dont care like i used too i mean i dont let everything steelers effect my moods like i used too..

Two different people..two totally different circumstances..one market isnt depressed. One is. Two totally different circumstances. Was that Bens second or third deal? Ben signed a first round deal back when first round deal wasnt slotted.. Bell signed a slotted second round deal. They are not the same

$8 million a year is depressed? Man, I wanna be depressed.

This sure fires up the emotions, and rightfully so, but I'm done with Mr. Bell.

Ben has a better chance at a ring without him than Bell does without Ben. Ben wants a ring, good for him, Le'Veon wants the cash and someone will most likely give it to him.

Too bad it will be in some place like Chicago or Tampa Bay, where he'll have his bling, but never a ring.

Until he decides he wants to play for the team I love, I won't comment again about him.

This whole conversation is academic anyway. Bell didn't sign a new contract, the Steelers aren't offering what he wants, and he will be with a new team next season.

AND yet you want to more than double his wages, yes, our RB's wages doubled even though the entire NFL is thinking that the position is less valuable than it ever has been......................................................

Don't even bother to respond as WE ALL KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT THIS.

Amazing stuff. Antdrewjosh likes to defend the controversial Steelers. I guess that's his business. The problem is he doesn't really understand the modern economics of the game or the relative importance of the position.

Running back is an easy position to replace, and the teams that win the super bowl have a split backfield approach with a moderate amount of cap space dedicated to the position which tends to have a shorter shelf life.

While Bell is a talent, he's a used car with a lot of miles on it, a suspension, and some knee injuries. He's also a selfish prick, who uses social media to take shots at the Steelers. I guess a few Steeler fans root for some players interest over the team's interests. I'm not one of them.

Not when we hit the playoffs and yards mattered...

Didn't Bell fail to covert on a 4th and one and 3rd and short vs Jacksonville recently in the playoffs?

Yep, twice when it mattered most. Read below:

The first Steelers fourth-and-1 came late in the first quarter after Le'Veon Bell took a third-and-2 pitch to the right and weaved through would-be tacklers to gain positive yardage — but not the first down.
Moments later, this time with Roethlisberger under center, again the playcall was a pitch to Bell for a sweep to the right.

This time, Bell was smothered by three Jaguars and lost 4 yards.

The next time the Steelers faced a short-yardage situation was on the fifth snap of the fourth quarter. On third-and-1 from the Jacksonville 39, they tried their third different play to Bell. This time Roethlisberger was under center, Bell was a deep single back and the run up the middle was stuffed.

So with Bell having failed on both sweeps to the outside and on a run up the middle, the Steelers shifted strategies and on the next fourth-and-1 elected for a play-action pass 17 yards down the field. Intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster, it fell incomplete, thanks in part to coverage from A.J. Bouye.

There you have it, Bell wasn't fast enough to get outside ( A weakness in his game ) or powerful enough to get a yard.

I get what ADJ is saying. I don't think he is defending Bell as much as he is saying that Bell has every right to try and get as much as he can. Just like the Steelers have every right to offer what they feel his value is. Aside from putting his best effort on the field every week, he really doesn't owe the Steelers anything.

That play on 4th and 1 was doomed from the start. Ben pitched it three yards behind the LOS. I don't think that was on Bell, but the play calling. **** call!

Come on. That pitch play was ill advised and poorly executed in all facets from the word go.

Well Tomlin defended both calls!

Tomlin said. “I stand by the calls we made. We just did not execute them. We wouldn't be having these conversations had we executed those plays, and such is life. So I'm not looking to convince you or change your mind. I'm just telling you we were comfortable with the calls that were made, and they stood up in those moments better than we did.”

Either way, Bell was to slow and not powerful enough, but heck yes our coaching sucked in that game, and Tomlin is quickly becoming a poster boy for losing in the playoffs, often with the better team.

I like Bell and what he brings to the team. He is a definite talent and he's free to get as much as he can. Realistically, this probably will be his last season in B&G. It's a shame because he was offered a nice contract last year. I'm not saying he is greedy or any of that. He knows what he is worth. His shelf life is a handful of seasons left and then he will get on with his young life like many other Steeler RBs that came before him. I think Ben is in a different mindset. He has made his millions and wants another ring. Bell wants paid and is still young. Different story lines and I get both mindsets. They need to get that 7th ring!

lol, sorry, but too slow? Four Jags were in the backfield as he caught the ball. Walter Payton couldn't have made positive yards on that play. We do all agree, coaching was putrid that day.

Yes, TOO SLOW. Bell hits very few big plays and seldom has the speed to beat a linebacker or end to the corner. Its true. While that pitch play was a Haley/Tomlin folly, Bell could not get a yard up the middle either.

I've have to check the film, but a two TE set or a FB on the field would be best. As we know Haley banned the QB sneak, and Ben was something like 13 of his last 14 on this play for getting that yard.

We can agree to disagree. Your second paragraph, though is what I do agree with. Haley should have been tarred and feathered on the Clemente Bridge.
