Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

I'm hoping Metcalf keeps them in games. You may be right since QB hasn't been addressed

I would have loved Stafford this year but what I want for Chanukah is a long term plan that starts with admitting they suck, trading Watt for a trailer full of picks, and restarting a dynasty in 2 or 3 years with their QB of the future.

This patchwork nonsense every year has resulted in at least an extra 3 years of pain. Hopefully there will be bright spots
Who would you rather have as QB1?? 13 million dollars is basically free for a QB and he's best available. Seems Chanukah friendly to me

Nobody can talk me into that defense being elite. It isn't. It's a predictable worn out scheme that hasn't changed since the pats***** exploited it regularly and thoroughly. Hell ,I listen to some of those retired pats***** offensive players state just that.

That won't change, until they change coaches or actually become brilliant tactical defensive minds who teach.

They can't even tackle worth a ****. It's pathetic. I'd start with that first.

So if you can't even do the fundamentals well, you're screwed.

The defense has looked like crap when it mattered for over a decade, there's no sugar coating it or wishing it to be not true won't change what is crystal clear and playing on repeat.

Rodgers just might get more say. It will change our entire playbook and offense. Something I and many others have been preaching for years now. Our caveman philosophy on offense will never get us a championship.

So I hope and embrace the idea of Rodgers getting a big say in what we do offensively. I will just believe when I see it.

Ben was handcuffed.
Tribisky also.
Pickett...yep.
Fields...yep.
Russ.....yep.
Rodgers.....we will see.

We still have to deal with our defensive passiveness even if Rodgers gets our O rolling smoothly and efficiently. One thing at a time I suppose.
I don't think it's going to change the entire playbook, but I do believe Rodgers will be given more room to operate outside of the recent restraints put on the others you listed. As always, time will tell.

While he has been great in the last decade you said the very important part of “three years removed from…” and those three years happened to have his 39th, 40th and 41st birthdays.

Unless you’re that cheating POS Tommy boy most QBs really fall off that nearing 40 cliff and he has went over the 40 cliff.

I don’t think there’s more than maybe 1-2 of the most optimistic Tomlin nut huggers that think the combo of his pathetic schemes and Rodgers’ aging arm/body will recapture any of that sort of play from 4-5 years ago at this point.

Hope he proves me wrong and takes a bath in the fountain of youth and has endless headset issues with batteries as he’s commanding our guys to a SB against all odds, but right now it’s nothing but hope as history suggests another year of nothing to see here in groundhog land.
Not saying that Rodgers is going to recapture his MVP-caliber level of play from 2021 here in 2025. That would be as stupid as saying that he hasn't been any good in ten years. But he still has the arm strength necessary to make all of the throws he needs to. He's an intelligent, savvy veteran QB who has performed at the highest level for the majority of his career.

And, as I have pointed out before, over his last ten games of 2024 (not 4-5 years ago), AR put up 18 touchdowns versus only 4 interceptions while playing for a shltty Jets team. Those are outstanding numbers from any NFL quarterback, whether the guy is 42, 32, or 22.

You do stand corrected.

Nah, I'm not dense. I can understand the difference between four years and ten years.
If you understand, why don't you understand that 4 years is a lifetime in the career of a pro ball player

And not only is he not the player he was 4 years ago, he's a nut job conspiracy theorist and narcissist.

You love the signing and I'm mystified why people think it's a good signing..

I'll be looking for you as soon as the prima drama begins and you'll be difficult to find

I hated the thought of signing him. But now the he is a steeler I will clearly cheer him on. Hopefully it iends like the bucs and brady

Posts like this make me like him even more. He has said and done all the right things so far. Never heard a single bad word from a former teammate either. He may not be what he once was but even 75% of what he was still puts him top 10 in the league considering his arm talent is still there and so is his brain. The kegs are the only thing lacking at this point but brains can overcome that.

I want a front office that stops blowing smoke up everyone's arse. So far their plan has been drafting a 5th round QB in the 1st and then lipstick on a pig which results in non losing seasons and humiliation in January

13 million dollars is a fortune when the ceiling is 9 wins and a beatdown on national TV in the playoffs.

Stop pretending 2021 Rodgers is coming to play in 2025.

So, you wanted them to reach again and again? I am not sure WTF people think they should have done. You can't make good QBs materialize out of thin air. It took 20 years to replace Terry.

I read Rodgers has a 4 to 1 Td / int ratio which is very impressive considering he is considered a gunslinger Just hope he has enough left in the tank

People keep quoting his season stats but won't dare look at his stats against good defenses last year. He was great against the Jags of the league.

Yes he was coming off injury but he can't move in the pocket or scramble like he used to and he was throwing his arms up in the air like a child when things were going wrong. He runs his WR under the bus in front of national media

Can he get the ball down field or "make the throws" as someone here has said? You're dreaming if you think that

Did he have good games against bad defenses. Absolutely. Is he a head case who is way past his prime? Absolutely.

If you're going to argue what a good season he had, break it down to account for the competition.

Or take into account how absolutely atrocious his line was. Probably the worst in the league. they threw 4th most in the league because of it. Give him a balanced run game and see how good he can be. It was the Jets for ***** sake.

If I am hearing you correctly. You want to be able to say. Times are changed

Rodgers played well at the end of LAST SEASON for a bad team. I'm basing his potential not on what he did 10 years ago, or 4 years ago (a "lifetime")...I'm talking about THE FINAL TEN GAMES OF 2024, when he had a 97+ passer rating. I'm not the guy who said Rodgers wasn't any good for a decade. Just own your mistake and stop being a p&ssy about it.

You hate the signing. Good for you. Hate away. I think it's a good signing because AR improves the QB room, has the chops to stand up to Tomlin and his moronic offensive philosophy, can help mentor Will Howard in ways that Mason Rudolph could only dream of, and gives the Steelers a better chance to win.

You'll find me right here, tough guy. Maybe you'll get your wish, and Rodgers will fail. I've been wrong before, but I'm man enough to admit it.

You're completely wrong yet again:

1) Rodgers had seven games last season with a passer rating of 104 or higher. 5 out of those 7 games were against top ten passing defenses.
2) Every single NFL analyst I've heard commenting on Rodgers' arm strength has said the same thing -- he's still got a very good arm.

Try pushing your agenda with some facts instead of more bullshit.

You are bringing it up…..quit being so lazy. Do it yourself. Show the stats.

A real offensive system he might be lacking also. Smith stated he will gear the offense around Rodgers skill set though. Why we haven't done this for the last 5 years is mind boggling. We will see how it all plays out.

He is still more mobile than ancient cheater boy Tommy was at the end and still has quick reads and a quick release to help overcome his decreased mobility.

As a player, even at grandpa’s accelerated age, he brings more to the table in terms of QB ability than Mitch, KFP, JF or Russ did. That’s a huge positive in a QB driven league.

If he can mentor Mike a bit and teach him the middle of the field is not made of lava and audibles are ok sometimes it’s a win moving forward. Heck he should get an extra million if he can teach that lesson (an extra 3 million if the lesson is retained as actual knowledge moving into future seasons).

Rodgers no doubt is the best we’ve had around here since Ben, no denying that one.
Sure, Rodgers still has the arm and he’s very intelligent which is a great combination but the age thing factors in for me and here is why.
I’m very, very concerned about the work in process OL particularly LT where Broderick Jones absolutely must protect Rodgers blind side or else this goes off the tracks very quickly.
Also, both second year players at Center and RG must take a big step forward in year two.
RT is essentially a first year starter after being injured last year.
I think it all hinges on how well this OL plays to provide Rodgers with time . He’s not as mobile as he once was so this is imperative.
The running game needs to step it up as well and would go a long way in helping Rodgers succeed here. Hopefully the rookie RB Caleb Johnson is as good as I think and hope he is.
Finally, who is the #2 receiver? I’m hearing it’s Cal Austin and I’m just not buying that one.
I still think they need to bring in a #2 receiver whether that’s Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, they have to bring one in.
Of course I’ll be pulling for Rodgers to succeed but I think those things I mentioned have to fall into place.

In his last two full seasons as a starter, one in GB, one in NY, his YPA and AY/A dropped dramatically, but his INT% went up pretty drastically, too.

That sounds like he’s dinking and dunking and getting it out quicker lately, but also being more careless downfield.

This will probably be our best QB’ing since the first half of 2020, but he’s closer to 2020 Ben now than he is 2020 Rodgers, the MVP QB.

I honestly think they did with Russ but his lack of mobility ended up killing him. His brain still thought he was the same guy as years earlier, but the body wasn't willing. I also think they won what they did with Fields because they simplified the game down for him. I do think Fields passed up some opportunities to run more and was indecisive. They had him in position to make plays and he was leaving some on the field. I do think they got too conservative with Russ and should have just let him do what he does for better or worse in the late season gauntlet and playoffs. They handcuffed him too much even if I get why. I am hoping as you are that they let A Aron play but within the scheme as we need balance.

In 2024 Rodgers through more TD than Mahommes, Hurts and tied Josh Allen in TD. Who was the last Steeler QB that did that??
He also had more passing yards than hurts was nearly equal with Allen and Mahommes.
On the Jets
Stop pretending you're opinion has any basis in facts.

He also threw a lot more passes, 2nd most in the NFL

He hasn’t played at peak AR level since 2021, comparing him to today’s elite by cherry picking a couple counting stats is misguided and might set you up for disappointment.
