If anyone caught First Take (I know, I know), Max nailed my sentiments almost exactly while Stephen A (the supposed Steelers fan) is a defeatist quitter. Go figure.

Anyone have a good picture of Eli getting his jersey held?
 
On First Take Max and Steven A. Both say it was a catch, refs got it right the first time, replay officials misinterpreted the rule. Put another asterisk next to the Pats season.

I personally like the concept floated earlier... A board of 15 to 20 ex players that review every controversial call and all major penalties and vote real time within 30 seconds of viewing a video replay... it would be far more fun to see the players be a check on the refs. just use NFC team players for afc games and vice versa, or at leqast no one who played on the teams they are judging...

All PI, All holds, Any disputed catch, all personal fouls... bet the botched calls for those drop off if refs know they are getting doublechecked

To be fair, appealing to Steven A's authority and football knowledge is like appealing to half the posters here, and not the good half....
 
My biggest issue w/the replay, is where can you see that the ball is on the ground? I keep watching it, and I see the ball spin a little when he hits the ground, but it looks as if it spins on his right hand? In any case... if I am seeing that, how the **** are they getting concrete evidence to overturn the call on the field?? I WANT to see that because as of right now I feel like a number of you. Pissed, frustrated, confused. The last play just magnifies how idiotic the NFL can be. esp when it's left up to the refs to decide. I mean, the Raiders got "jobbed" just as bad by some made up rule. Why do we need to analyze blades of grass and microsecond ball movements? Is this making the game better? As a fan it's so damn frustrating because there's nothing you can do....but sit back and take it. I wish I didn't like football this am. The NFL is digging themselves a hole here because these tight *** rules are going to rear their ugly head and cost a team in the 'Bowl. Last night was a bad look.

That rule needs changed. No ands ifs or butts. Changed so the refs can't influence outcomes.

It will be changed on the fly if it looks like it's going to negate a P*ts TD. Have no fear. Oh wait. It already has. See Brandon Cooks make a "miraculous game winning catch" against the Texans as he drops the ball on the ground.

But wait... NFL officials in New York say... IT'S A CATCH!
 
The rule sucks etc, but it was called a TD on the field and there's no view where it CLEARLY shows the ball loose on the ground and James's hand/fingers not under it

I think the rule needs to be changed for the goal line - if you are in possession of the ball, like JJ was, and it crosses, then TD. Just like a runner crossing.

This loss is rough. But I keep in mind we stood a really poor chance of beating the cheats twice in one season. Just could not see it happening. But there is a much better chance of beating then once. This loss was not a one loss and you are done like the playoffs, so better to lose now. I think if the cheats and Steelers are still alive in the playoffs, the cheats get their ***** handed to them at their home by a riled up Steelers team WITH AB playing, with Haden playing.

Of course it moved! That's what happens when an impact happens. Giant dude holding a ball hitting the ground. Things move. Such an obvious catch. My good god. I am a huge patriots fan but come on. That's insane. Sorry #Steelers. You deserved this win.

This is 3 games NE won with a botched call at the goal line. The supposed winning catch by Cooks vs Houston, the horrible call against the Jets, where not only did they over turn the TD, they some how ruled it a touch back and awarded NE the ball
