Report: Aaron Rodgers Is At Steelers Facility On Friday

The goal is 9 wins, I think Rudy can do that.

Well, technically…………… 8 wins and a tie……….. but I hear what you are sayiN

I don't think Aiyuk used us.

Sounds like we had a contract in principle.

My understanding is that we didn't want to pay the draft capital that SF wanted.

Kahn puts a price on a guy. And doesn't ever say he's out of a deal. Waits to see if the bottom drops out on the price.

Worked for Fields. Didn't work for Aiyuk.

We'll see for Rodgers...but it looks like his options are play cheap with us or retire. And there's no need for us to pony up more cash when there isn't a buyer. And there's no need yet for him to sign. So they'll play chicken for a bit longer.

ADD in the fact that A-Aron himself said he would play for $10mil. So it isn’t even a $$$pay-up$$$ scenario.

I'll play for half of that.

I suited up with Ben's jersey and everything. Was sort of his "stunt double". He'd go into the blue tent and I came out. I was his dopple-ganger.
Worked for years. I worked for tips, you wouldn't believe some of stuff guys on the sidelines told me...........................

No we need him to be thrust into being a starter ASAP so we know for sure if we need to go hard after a top QB next year. Either we completely tank OR Howard emerges as the franchise QB. Those are the two best scenarios.
I would plan on taking another QB next year, no matter what. Unless he pulls a ben and makes a start due to injury and goes undefeated.

Is it a bad thing that if Ben came out of retirement this year, he would be the best QB on the roster.?

He hasn't played football in three years, and his mobility and arm were nowhere near what they once were when he last played.

One reason Brady and Rodgers were/have been able to play into their 40s is that they avoided the type of reconstructive surgery to their throwing arms that Ben had.

As a great as Ben was, I sincerely doubt he would be a better QB than Rudy at this point.

Howard might need a year or two to improve on some things before he's ready to play, though the Steelers definitely shouldn't wait on a 6th round pick if a better prospect or veteran option becomes available next year.
No you don’t wait, no matter how he looks this year. I think they still draft another QB next year also. If the right one is able to be had you go get him regardless of Howard being on the roster. That still only gives you 3-4 QB’s going into camp. Worst case, both turn out to be franchise QB’s and you trade one for picks or needs.
I think one of the biggest mistakes teams often make with young QBs is assuming they all need to play right away, especially the rookie QBs with flaws in their games. On occasion, having some time to learn and improve from the NFL practice field and sidelines can do a lot of good.
Going from College to Pro is a huge jump for the best players. Getting time to come up to speed is always beneficial
Countless QBs have probably been ruined by being rushed onto the field.
I would guess that the vast majority of them it wouldn’t have mattered anyway
Conversely, who knows if Patrick Mahomes would have become the player he has if he didn't sit and learn for a year? Same with Tom Brady.
They both could have 1 more Super Bowl ring each, who knows.

Rodgers is doing what is best for him and I can respect that. Everyone expects him to sign with the Steelers, because they think that is his best option, it may not be. I know that if I were a player and looking at Tomlin’s history, I wouldn’t play for him unless it were my LAST option of getting a paycheck. In Rodgers situation, he doesn’t need the money so he can wait. Every year a starter or two goes down before opening day, any of those could be more enticing than the Steelers.

If Rodgers is coming he should sign before OTAs. It would not be fair to anyone for him to show up before opening day. This would set the team back several weeks and if we expect to compete we do not have that luxury. It would also be a slap in the face to all the other guys who grinded through camp to be ready. It would also just be a bad look for the "leader" to blow off all the hard work. To me that just shows lack of commitment and he would be better off retiring or going to a different team that has an injury or something. If the team is dumb enough to sign an old QB who didnt bother learning the system and what not then that is on them and not Rodgers. I imagine that would rub guys the wrong way and cause some locker room issues.
