Pouncey Calls out Harrison

Again....I can blame him...as a player on a team he did the one the you don't do. Also I'm pretty sure Belicheat did not have us fans(and media) in mind when signing Harrison.

The media is eating it up.

It seems

Christ, I need a drink. Or some Cope's drunk thoughts thread.

Whatever the case, he seems pretty damn excited.

I hope the Patriots are dumb enough to give him significant snaps in the playoffs and teams victimize him on every play.

If he faces the Steelers I'd make him cover Bell out of the backfield every ******* play. He'll get embarrassed.

That sentiment is getting so old and so tired. This team has proven all season they are focused and able to win football games. That's all that matters. And they've done so withstanding major injuries to Shazier and AB (and Gilbert). For you to sit there and type that Tomlin has 'no control of the team culture' is inflamatory and a strawman argument if I've ever seen one. Have you watched any player interviews this year? Do you have any sense how collected this team is right now? A player that's been considered one of the all time greats leaves in a cloud of dust and posts a picture of him and Tom ******* Brady from the Pats lockerroom? Fans pouting and grumbling about Tomlin and the Steelers FO letting him go and you expect them to stay silent? The testimony coming out of the Steelers locker room seems to be a collective sigh of relief Harrison is gone. Pouncey, Dupree, Gilbert and other spoke from the heart. Sometimes it's a healthy thing to get the truth out. That truth may be uncomfortable for some, but it's still the truth. Your statement is simply a cop-out, to say Tomlin has no control of 'team culture.' Just the opposite, this is 'team culture'. Players speaking from their hearts. I'll take that over whatever you thought you wanted to hear or whatever would have made you more comfortable.

Ha ha ha, posts like this one are why I rarely come to the football side. So much melodrama.

Like I said, if this is the way Harrison's been acting why is he still on the team to begin with. He should have been cut a long time ago.

I'm not a Tomlin hater, I've defended him numerous times here. Obviously you can't argue with success. One aspect I do not like is how these guys run out and air all of their dirty laundry to the media or on twitter like a bunch of little butt hurt middle school girls. Call me old-fashioned but I hate that bullshit. What happens in the locker room should stay in the locker room.

I also will give a veteran player the benefit of the doubt and equal weight to his version of events. Sorry you need a big bad wolf to hate on in this scenario but I will always respect his contributions to the team. It's a shame on both sides that it had to end this way but I'm not jumping on the stupid "He's dead to me now" bandwagon. Too many great memories.

He's a fierce competitor. So the guy wanted to play, not train some rookies to take his job. Again, that doesn't surprise me one bit.

I agree. I hope he gets major playing time. Split Bell to his side and have some fun.

The question none of us have to ask ourselves is if we play the Pats a few weeks from now and Deebo gets in the faces of Pouncey and our O-line, who will you be rooting for?

Well, I should say most of us won't need to ask ourselves that question.

Harrison always seemed like a stick to myself type of person. He loves football and working out, but prefers to stay alone. Harrison was never the sharpest tool in the shed and just seems somewhat anti social in general. If he was promised a certain amount of plays and what not i don't blame him for being mad. He played like 40 snaps and 15 were in one game. James could have handled things different, but i also think the team is partly at fault.

This will have to be all pregame activity.I doubt Harrison sees any meaningful snaps.

Bwa ha ha Tibs you crack me up.

I hope he tears his ACL on an attempted sack of Ben. Feel better now?

Obviously no Steeler fan is rooting for him against us.

John was one of my favorite players. I’m going to miss him.

I'll laugh because it's meaningless, no winner or loser in that. I'll be rooting for the Steelers though, not the Patriots.. I think that is obvious for everyone posting on here.

I agree with you up to the point Harrison started flat-out sabotaging things. Even if you feel you're in the right you should be a man and do things the right way. Him acting like a pre-schooler because he didn't get his way is inexcusable. And again, who's side are you on? I ask that respectfully. I'm with the team and with team management. You have a malcontent, former All Universe LB on your team, just signed him to a two-year contact, why not hold onto him as long as you can? Who cares about doing Harrison favors. We gave him what he asked for over the summer, the two-year contract.

So Harrison gets an itchy crotch and gripes about playing time? Things change, games play out, players rise and players fall. So Deebo had hurt feelings about playing time promised to him? Great, show up, be accounted for, pound the pads in practice and force Tomlin's hand to put you on the field. If you want it so bad.

The idea we should feel sorry for Deebo because he 'repeatedly asked for his release' during the season is nuts. That the Steelers did him wrong by not 'setting him free' to pursue 'more playing time?" That's not how it works, I don't care who you are. Tomlin and Colbert have one job, to field the best possible team and win games. If keeping a player like Deebo in your back pocket all season is a part of that, good on you. James needed to suck it up, be a man, show up and be a part of the team. If his role was a secondary one, so be it.

So he wasn't a John Wayne type rah rah leader. Deebo just wanted to post to instagram, put the hoodie on, pump iron and push 600 pound sleds around. I get that.

But you can't turn your back on your teammates. Not when you're James Harrison and you got wide-eyed rooks showing up in awe of you. That's just a dick move, sorry. We may all have thought and known he was a loner and a malcontent. Deebo went out of his way to prove that and also that he doesn't give two ***** about team or teammates. It is what it is.

Harrison is not dead to me. Whenever anyone mentions his name, the first things I'll think of are his "arrival" game against Baltimore, him slamming that Browns fan and, first and foremost, the most amazing defensive play in SB history.
That said, as long as he is a Cheat*, I wish him the same ill will I wish upon Marsha, Gronk and the rest of that brood.

IMO, I think they should have released him early in the year when he requested it. They weren't going to play him so why allow him to be a distraction through out the year.
I don't like that James was doing that stuff, never thought he would skip meetings and things.. selfish to say the least.
At the end of the day, this whole thing sucks. I guess I like hearing football talk, but this season has been filled with garbage drama.

They kept him for the same reason they held on to Martavis. They thought they might eventually need him. In fact, according to Harrison himself, they still were willing to bring him back if they needed him.

They only cut him because he asked for the umpteenth time after the NE loss. That was apparently in deference to his wishes (to the potential detriment of the team). So don’t give me this, “the team treated him so unfairly” ****.

They didn’t owe him anything, except the agreed upon payment for his services. He apparently didn’t feel like he had any mutual obligation.

and notice NONE of this stuff came out until after Harrison was gone. Not a peep. If it was a dysfunctional locker room, this stuff would have been being leaked out throughout the season.

no no the truth is as the players presented it

majority gets the nod

might be a hard pill to swallow for his faithful

but it is there for all to see

And nothing Harrison says is inconsistent with the statements of his former teammates.

I’m disappointed in him. You expect more out of the senior statesman on the team. When you’re in the final years of your career, your role changes. He couldn’t see that his role now was to help pass the baton to the younger guys. Instead, he wanted to compete with them for playing time. That’s a pretty selfish outlook.

LOL.....You seemed hurt that the truth is actually out now. Maybe your image in the past is what you want to remember. I will go with what the players are saying. Pouncey is a leader on this team and has been very vocal about it. Dupree probably seen more of the **** Harrison was doing personally. They all most likely wanted him gone long before this. And I thought Bryant's stunt earlier was bad.

Probably were Bryant got it from. dude there not playing you, your being wasted on the bench, JuJu taking your plays. just ask to be traded.

Could easily be true but obviously only hypothetical. Bryant is dumbassery enough to have come up on this by himself.

Salute the nation

Well put. The statements coming out of the locker room really put things into perspective.

Who knows...it may have been why Bell was being a malcontent early in the season as well. Young guys follow the vets' lead most times. There certainly was more locker room drama surrounding this team than I have ever seen before. Maybe Harrison was at the root of it. If so, I'm glad he's gone.

Nothing is black and white. I’ll remember all those things about him, but I’ll also remember how he left. It’s all part of his legacy. It’s just unfortunate that this had to be his swan song.
