Pickens being traded to Dallas?

You’re such a condescending tool. It’s not that we got rid of a diva. It’s that we did after the draft and it’s way harder to replace him now-and you know it

Don’t even try to tell me a team wouldn’t have given a 3rd round pick for Pickens before or during the draft.

Take off your halo, put your Tomlin/Rooney Pom Pom’s down and admit this was botched, if you can

It had to happen...Pickens was gonna be a hold-in & a freakin Fuckkking headache...He doesn't rep. a team very well & we got good compensation for him...

We got a 3rd rd draft pick for a talented wide reciever who hasn't fulfilled his promise & we never knew what the Fuckk he would say or do....We were never gonna extend him...

We replaced him By sending a #2 with a talented wide receiver DK Metcalf, who we know EXACTLY the kind of tireless worker & fearless performer he is............We extended him..

We gave up a #2 for DK cause we extended him...DK is a true #1, production-wise & work ethic. GP hasn't quite got there because of maturity issues

Pretty much swapped out a player who who hasn't repped Pgh well for someone who will
 
Hey all the old timers in here...

If we were on the team & had to watch Pickens antics at practice & in the Locker room & watched his stupid comments to the media & tipping the Steelers QB choices, how bout picking up stupid penalties & NOT BLOCKING FOR JALEN WARREN CAUSE HE DIDN'T WANNA GET HURT....I think alot of us would be like later dude, you are annoying...Take you Bullsite elsewhere....It gets old...

As a fan I would cringe when he would do stupid shiit & wonder what would await the next day...Imagine having to put up with that crap all day & at games....really think about it...

If most of us were on the team, I am not so sure we would like the guy...

Need them for a package to make a trade into top 3 or 5 in 2026 get our franchise QB..
If we go 5-12 or 6-11.. we can probably make that work.

I don't even know if he has a 10 CENT BRAIN. It's mind boggling how dumb he is. But a third rounder AFTER the draft? It sure seems like they got peanuts for him. Kahn is not impressing me.

Pickens doesn't block for Jalen Warren ON A GOAL LINE PLAY, explaining in the media why he didn't block..."Pickens later explained that he didn't want to risk getting injured while blocking"

Wonder what Jalen Warren feels about this trade? Maybe he can get a block now on a goal line stand from a star Wide-Out
 
Well he’s the last of the last GM’s picks this seems like more “not my guy” by the new gm… doesn’t really matter it’s more like moving the deck chairs around on the titanic than any thing else right now.. Mason Rudolph as qb right now? It wouldn’t matter if we had Jerry f’in rice right now!!
 
I come on here later and later to check in on our QB situation and lo and behold this is what I find.

My thoughts. First of all….another high draft choice not making a second contract. For all blaming Tomlin….Omar Kahn is our GM. If he gets credit for the Chase Trade,then he should take the credit for the George Trade. I am not naive enough to not realize Tomlin doesn’t have influence,but let’s not make this a Tomlin bashing thread.I fully believe A GM should have the ultimate power over the coach. If not….thats an ownership thing.

There is no doubt in my mind that this would have been a season of Pickens drama. Contract year. Even catching over 1000 yards it would have been filled with drama. The media would have stayed on him nonstop all season. They smell blood. Dissecting every play.Every press conference …hey George how’s your new contract going? Believe me he would have fed right into it. Let’s hope things go well for Mr Metcalf. I’ve watched his whole career. His actions on the field can also raise some eyebrows.

My questions for this trade is all about the timing. And the compensation. Personally and perhaps selfishly I would have gambled and waited. I looked forward to seeing the 2 of them on the field together. Finally 2 bonafide WR’s. If he could have kept his mouth shut and we would feed him the ball,a trade early during the season. I think we should have for sure got a second. Lots of if’s there though. And if not during my season scenario,definitely before or during the draft. I find it very hard to believe no one was offering higher than a forth for him.

I really question the thought process. I was against Aiyuk trade last season,and the Metcalf trade this season. It’s got nothing to do with the actual players. It’s just that I need a proven QB first. What good is trading a second and then signing Metcalf to a massive contract when we are in QB limbo? We could have kept the second and signed a FA for much less. I have no problem with getting Metcalf if we have our future QB signed to 3-5 years,but we don’t. Or if he was a missed piece for a SB run. But we are not.

The difference between a second or third is big. Heck…I was dreaming about a first for him. Say what you want about Zak. He can fling the pigskin. Big numbers coming up for George this season.

Oh, boy. Reports indicate, and that's all we know, they weren't getting a 3rd round offer in the draft.

I indicated in another post that I questioned the timing.

Stuff I listened to today stated other players on the team didn't like or respect Pickens. It had to be done. I'm gonna guess other teams knew that. So it wouldn't surprise me they didn't get that 3rd round offer during the draft. Why now? Cause April 2026 is a long way off.

Late last year Pickens really started becoming unglued. How will he respond when the pressure is on in a contract year? Will he make it through the season without hurting his value? Will he shine, or will he get suspended?

It is either get the guaranteed 3 now and forego the 2025 season, or get the maybe 3 in 2027 and take your chances on Pickens in 2025. A one in the hand vs 2 in the bush scenario.

I see their rationale, and they see a lot more than I do......

I see Dallas just got away from the deal in awesome shape. Basically move down a few spots in the third round for a cheap rental year of a WR1.

The pick swap was equal value (so of zero merit to the deal).

The Steelers made their entire offense worse today cuz we have a coach that can’t reach and teach players or figure out what disciplinary buttons to push to keep inmates from running the asylum…”I’m just glad he’s our coach” Art Nutting

If the coach is so damn weak minded that we have to jettison our most talented cuz he can’t steer a ship with talent on it, what damn good is the coach?
He sure ain’t holding the job cuz his tactical abilities.

I’m glad he’s gone! Both the divas Pickens and DJ have now left the building and we are a better franchise for it.
Talent wise, no question Pickens is tremendously talented and DJ also talented but not worth the trouble.
Pickens will implode in Dallas as Cee Dee Lamb is the star there and he will be the focus of the offense. Pickens will not be happy but this time won’t have Tomlin to protect him.
Steeler locker room most likely glad to see him move on.

Sure, Omar executes the mechanics of the trade, but if Tomlin wanted him he’d still be here.

Pickens is inching closer to a game where he quits in the middle of it, takes off his jersey as he leaves and whips the crowd into a frenzy...... It will happen in Dallas.

Add in Dallas 3rd
Subtract our 6th next year

So 1,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,5,6,7 should be where we stand
Not nearly enough firepower to move from 1/20-1/23 range to top 3-5 where they’ll need to be.


We can sure as hell **** it up by spending the 1,2,3,3,4 and say the following years 2nd to move up and grab a **** QB

I figured they'd let him play out his contract because the WR class this year wasn't good.

Hopefully having only one legit NFL starter at WR doesn't screw us like it did last season.
