NFL Network Says AB to Bills

Brown can show up, and go 50% thru practice and show up on game day...there is NOTHING the Steelers can do about it. They can't suspend him for not running fast enough or blocking good enough. If Brown does show up you have a whole other can of worms to contend with. The Steelers have NO leverage what so ever, anyone that believes otherwise is delusional.

You can bench him, And then when he talks **** you can suspend him.

Steeler Pride, I know you want AB to win this, but consider. If he does get his release, what stops Pouncey from playing 1 season on his deal and then demanding a release so he can keep his bonus money and go sign one final big deal with another team? What stops ANY newly signed player from doing that?

At some point the Steelers need to take back their culture. This is a much bigger issue than whether or not AB is worth a damn as a player for the Steelers anymore.

If it's truly about taking back the culture, why even try to trade him?

Tell him to either honor the rest of his contract, or go **** himself.

The Steelers cannot have it both ways.

I understand the concerns about precedent, but I think we can find some solace in the fact that the vast majority of professional athletes are nowhere near as narcissistic as Brown.

You trade him to get rid of the headache while getting the value that should come with it.

You can not reward a player because he is greedy and wants more money.

If a new team rewards him, that is their burden to handle.

Nothing to do with being cheap or drunk, every team knows the Steelers are bent over on this one and NEED to move Brown, why would you offer up a premium draft pick when the Steelers will end up moving him regardless. One way or another Brown will not be in a Steeler uniform again.

I think he does. I think he either retires or is forced to eat his own **** and play. He hits our salary cap either way at this point if he wants to play he has only one choice.

We can not let a player hold us hostage when we have them under contract. If we can’t get fair comp, he sits. **** it if we pay him. “You wanna **** us, k cool, we tried to move you,...but now you ride the bench big guy”

What a ******* prick. If he damaged his value to the point to where we can't get anything for him, I hope they do everything they can to **** him over in return. Keep him and bench him every game for all I care.

Again, this action by AB adds to the 4 game suspension he should already have to start next season. This is a separate incidence to what happened with him lying, faking and injury and walking out on the team at the end of this past season. Suspend him now for 6 games and counting.

Brown is a ghetto me first piece of ****.

Get rid of this disease at any cost!

And how does that help the Steelers win games?

What Gestapo methods do you see any of those 60 men doing to Brown? There is NO way that AB is a part of the Steelers this season because of this exact issue. They cannot run the risk of having him show up. They cannot afford to have the drama of having him around. They cannot afford to have the drama continue. Brown will be gone before the start of training camp for whatever they can get for him.

Ostracize and alienate. 60 to 1. Ask Richie Cognito.

What team does have leverage over a player if all they need to do is pull antics like AB to leave for another team of their liking?

Get the best value for this clown and move on.

Only the Steelers know the trouble he can cause. If he’s really that bad let New England bid on him. If they offer the most by a good margin trade this Trojan horse to them.

And how does that help the Steelers win games?

Suspending Brown, the best WR in the NFL in my opinion, does NOT help the Steelers win games. But it helps the Steelers franchise keep some control of the locker room, and roster, and team unity.

The unfortunate and undeniable truth of the matter is that Brown cannot line up for the Steelers again. He has burned his bridges, burned the bridge repair kit, burned the spare tires for the bridge repair kit, and burned the other side of the bridge.

I am unbelievably frustrated by these events. I will always remember Brown as the best WR in the NFL, and the guy who made these extraordinary catches to win games:

That’s like showing all the great times in your life and finding out you have terminal cancer. You’d still have cancer.

The best thing they can do is keep him and hire a hit man.

No problem #shit4brains. If we can’t find deal to trade yah you will play under current contract or you can chose to sit out. Sitting out will cost you mega bucks but even though, the Steelers would still have your contract if and when you decided to play. Eventually the $21mil comes into play................. **** and brains don’t seem to mix unless you are a dumb aZZ Mr. Big Chest

Salute the nation

Oh, and one other thing.................. Mr. Big Chest has definitely taken the spot light off of Robert.

I laughed when I kept hearing that the Steelers held all the cards.

The trump card is held by #84 himself, as shown in the Bills debacle. It gives him the power to veto any trade he does not want to see happen, all he has to do is say “I will not show up”. Makes finding a trading partner almost impossible without him on board.

Initially yes, he does it to the point they can not get value for it, then the cards return to the Steelers for a player who is money hungry. Obviously in the end both parties come out looking wounded.

In my opinion in the next CBA there should be clear language about arbitration when something like this happens. A team should be able to file a grievance for guarenteed money when a ****** guy won't play or becomes so detrimental to the team and blocks your trade options.
Like maybe the guarenteed money is in parts. Signing bonus upfront. Can not be taken away no matter what. The rest is escrow for the length of the contract divied out by year dependant upon reasonable team behavior. If the player violates the law, or the team can make a clear case of detrimental to the team behavior, the money is forfeited.

I think you just explained the current state of affairs. Signing bonuses ARE upfront and cannot be taken away or moved off the cap. That’s why signing bonus’ are such a critical part to contracts. It’s what makes them so attractive to players and why teams should be cautious in how much they offer. “Guaranteed money in parts” are roster bonuses. Salaries aren’t guaranteed and are paid by year by game.
