NFL Network Says AB to Bills

AB is a quality person and an awesome all-around guy. I hope the sun always shines on his ***.

Oh for fucksake Supe. You serious with this ****?? **** your "classy" bullshit, I seriously hope he chokes to death

Omar, I think Supe forgot the [sarcasm-font] necessary formatting [/sarcasm-font]

Fair Market Value is decided on by those in the market for his services. You can want $400k for your house, but if the market is down and nobody offers you more than 350k you either take 350k or your don't sell your house. Again, the Steelers have no leverage what so ever in this situation. Why would anyone offer you premium draft picks for a player that Rooney has already said needs to be traded, who has vilified the Steelers, and that you can no longer have in your locker room.

That is fine, then the Steelers can say hey Mr. Rooney flew to Florida to meet with Brown who stated he wanted traded. Mr Rooney agreed. The Steelers negotiated a trade with the Bills and Brown said he would not report if traded . His conduct between this and his quitting on the team gives him no standing with the league or the players union. Tell him to report to OTA's and camp on time, without helicopters, special housing, or social media on Steeler premises. He doesn't comply then he is in breach of contract. He would have to pay back a large sum of money for the signing bonus he accepted and he would lose millions in salary if he doesn't comply. He doesn't get to control this situation unless the Steelers let him. It's time to play hardball or come the next player who doesn't get his way will pull the same crap.

Right! None at all... aside from the RIGHTS to a player who has had no less than 100 receptions for no less than 1,300 yards for no less than 8 TDs each of the past six seasons.

Who will not play another down for the Steelers. We can either trade him for whatever we can get (won't be a premium draft pick), cut him, or bring him back, suspend him, and then deal with a grievance process from the NFLPA. But yeaaaaa, we have his "rights." His stats don;t mean **** if nobody wants his services for the price the Steelers want.

Who is 30 and clearly doesn't want to be here and has no problems making very public comments on social media about his team including broadcasting live from the locker room. Oh and he wants more money. After today's weepstakes
It will become very obvious that the Steelers will get little for Mr. Bighead.

Who cannot play, or get paid or get another contract by any other team unless and until the Steelers agree to it.

I may be missing the boat here but it seems like the Steelers have more leverage over Brown than he may realize.

As far as the salary cap goes, he costs the team basically the same whether he is traded or remains on the team. The only asset we pick up is a draft pick if he is traded.

So, if the draft pick isn't acceptable, I say leave him where he is and lay down the law. One incident and he is suspended without pay for conduct detrimental to the team. If he disrupts, or tanks his play, suspend him. If he wants to sit out and pout like Me'Veon Bell, so be it, saves us money. We can trade him up to Week 6 of next season. He's under contract so he either shows up and plays or he sits and doesn't get paid.

Under no circumstances would I consider releasing him. Do not set that precedent that anytime a player wants out of his contract he just needs to throw a tantrum and he gets his way.

You can only suspend him for up to 4 weeks, after that he is getting paid regardless. The Steelers have already set the precedent that if you are a big enough pain in the *** we will give you what you want. They did it with Harrison, they did it with Bell, and they have done it with Brown by agreeing to trade his ***.

So he will get paid the balance of his contract by the Steelers minus a 4 game suspension. We pay premium money and get nothing in return. What great leverage!

The problem with keeping Brown is he can refuse to practice or play due to injury and the Steelers still have to pay him. He can say he twisted an ankle or knee or he is having back spasm and can’t play or practice. Just like he said he hurt his knee before the Bengals game and could not practice. He could do that all year. Would anyone think he is not capable of doing that? The Steelers could try to claim he is faking it but then you have a huge legal mess/distraction and team doctors saying he is fine and I am sure AB/Rosenhaus can find (pay) doctors to say he is too injured to play.

Wrong! No suspension needed, He doesn’t show up, he doesn’t get paid AND the Steelers can still trade him.

Dude... you don’t know how a NFL contract works.

Again, AB will NEVER play another down in a Steeler uniform. So if the Steelers want to play hardball, they can pay him the balance of his contract (minus a 4 week suspension) and we get no draft picks, compensation, or on filed production for the premium money that they are paying out. Brown is in 100% control of this situation and has been ever since he was rewarded after his FB live video in the locker room, skipping practices, skipping meetings, leaving training camp...etc. Brown was firmly in control after Rooney came outright and said that the Steelers needed to trade Brown as it was in best for both parties. For an attorney, he seems to know squat about negotiations and leverage.

Dude... you don’t know how a NFL contract works.

Dude, you don't know **** about NFL contracts of the CBA. A team can only suspend a player for up to 4 games for conduct detrimental to the team. After that, the player is getting paid unless he commits a separate act that you could suspend him for. That is how the CBA and NFL contracts work Einstein.

Wrong! No suspension needed, He doesn’t show up, he doesn’t get paid AND the Steelers can still trade him.

The ONLY way a player can not be paid is if he is suspended. That is the only provision that a team has in the CBA to withhold money from a player. You think his trade value is going to go up if this continues? LOL

I could give a **** if Brown ever plays again, I'm saying he has no power unless you give it to him. Make his life a living hell in Pittsburgh suspend when you can, fine his *** everytime he ***** up, and he will **** up. There is a lot of **** they can fling at Mr. Mustache. We all know he got special treatment from Tomlin. All that stops, whenever he steps onto any place owned by the Steelers have a babysitter whispering in his ear to not **** up or else. There a million little things you can do to Big Chest if your willing. By the way off the field, how do you think Steeler fans are going to treat Mr. Asshat when he set foot back in the Pittsburgh.

I think he may. It'll be difficult to see, but he could easily play out this contract. He's already seen that his value is only shared by Buffalo, as he likely believes he's better than any player in the draft (without considering their future development) and thinking he can play another 6-7 years at his same high level. Which is bullshit, but if you're a prima donna, you believe your **** doesn't stink and won't get old. Now that he's seen his value is Buffalo, he may have his ego deflated a bit. At some point he could even say "wayaminn" and see what the **** he's doing. He's a ******* moron, but he should see that all he has right now is due to the fact he was put in the right place at the right time with the right organization. Everything fell just perfect for him, including his hard work to be the best WR he could be. He should stop and consider "did Jerry Rice entertain offers to play for other teams when he was in his prime?" That answer is no. So JR built his legacy with one team. If AB wants to emulate JR, he should do the same.

Though, to be 100% fair, JR is not a completely clueless ******* idiot.

At this point, would you, Tomlin, Colbert, or Rooney trust AB on the practice field or playing field on game day? Would you want him in the locker room around young players like JuJu? Do any of the other 52 men want him in the locker room after what has been said/transpired? There is no easy answer to this problem, and there is no way that I do not see this getting even messier and carrying on into next season. Steelers seem to be addicted to the drama right now.

AB is worth their 9th. You are not guaranteed anything out of the draft. You get a perennial pro bowl player. You know what you are getting. The ninth pick is cheap for AB. Why draft some kid when you can insert a future hall of Famer and take away the guess work..

You make that trade and AB chooses not to show up and you are in an even bigger hole.

The fact that AB considers Chad Johnson as his "mentor" should answer that question for you.

I’d pay a first for a few great years from a proven HOF player. These people are drunk if they’re trying to be cheap for a player like AB

No. You hold-out, you do not get paid.

No. You hold-out, you do not get paid.

A hold out is something a player does, not something a team can do to a player. The only way a team can not pay out a contract is to suspend a player for up to 4 weeks. No other magical ways to not pay Brown's contract.

As for the locker room, I literally send AB to a separate locker room, far down the hall, put together with tarps and a garden hose for a shower. I honestly don't let him sit with the team before or after games. During halftime they can put him next to the punter.
