Martavis Bryant released?

I think you meant Sask but yeah outside of Bryant being a idiot and an addict, he really hasn't done anything to be labeled some terrible person.His decision making cost him millions.

So on a non football level I feel for him. As **** everyone of these players left sweat and tears on the field in some way or fashion.

When you hit rock bottom you get up brush yourself off. And say ok what can I do now.

I mean you never hear of Ricky Williams being a menace to society. So I am sure he will move on with his life's work.

It just won't be as a NFL football player.

Yep, Unitas was the 4th QB after being drafted in the 9th round in 1955. Walt Kiesling (aka Coach asshat) never gave Unitas a chance or snaps for that matter and let Johnny U. go because Teddy Marchibroda was his boy. Unitas went to St. Justin HS in Mt. Washington, our Parish Church and school. One of my uncles went to school with Unitas and would always talk about how good he was on the football field and how he got screwed by the Steelers coaches. Unitas even played for a "semi-pro" team in Bloomfield for less than $10.00 a game and working construction to support his family before the Colts picked him up. LOL, you hearing this Lev Bull?
 
To be 100% honest. If the Steelers signed him for a 2 year league minimum deal with no guarantees I’d be ok with it. This suspended year wouldn’t count against our cap or roster. When he came back he’d have to earn a roster spot and if not he’d be released. If he did we’d have him locked in for 2 years league min. Really no downfall.

No way, they invested time and money in him and didn't get their moneys worth.

He had his chances, good and plenty.

He might not be this bad person but what was said a few posts up is true as well.

I feel bad for him from that perspective but one would think someone with all his problems might have a hint of humility or gratitude.

He had this attitude on top of everything that has been mentioned.

We can easily draft another hungry prospect, with that I would have more confidence in them giving it their all.

Bryant doesn't deserve that confidence and for that matter that opportunity.

You had two undrafted prospects that made the team.

Say Martavis came in tried out in the process the Steelers didn't bring in Ola.

Which in turn someone else got a shot at him.

Potentially you lose out on a promising prospect through the draft, or after the draft.

So it obviously doesn't impact money, but to even potentially lose out on someone is enough for me to not bring him back.

Besides when you get rid of a headache, you don't invite it back in.

I hope the kid wises up but I have a feeling he's going to be in the headlines sometime in the next couple years for doing something stupid.

Are you kidding....... The STEELERS invested so much into this kid and he just pissed it away. His lashing out / girl friend poison frog debical / suspention(S) / lying......... All this combined with his sense of "ENTITLEMENT" there is NO WAY the STEELERS will even look his way. I'm sure he isn't a bad guy but his entitlement is what keeps the chances coming. Until he actually hits rock bottom (that's rock bottom to HIM and not what we perceive as rock bottom) he will continuously let people / clubs / whomever gives him a chance down. YES there is help, YES I want good for him, YES he can get there but HE needs to be the one to make the decision for help that will stick.

In other news, Kevin Colbert has been arrested for felony theft.
No doubt one of the best trades, if not THE best, he's ever made.
 
I have to disagree on this trade being in the zip code of the Bettis Trade.

The Bus is a Hall of Fame running back. He finished his career, what 4th on the all time yards list? And he was dating 300# for the 3rd quarter of his career.

No, unless Rudolph somehow manages to become a "Haller", the trades are nowhere near equivalent.
 
Look at how much he lost last year after his year off, does anyone really think he's coming back after ANOTHER year off and lighting it up? Nope.

The self entitlement of SOME of these players sooner or later is their down fall. Bryant had way to many chances as well as many in his position of not able to turn down a joint to get all that comes in being a player of the NFL. We all pay a price for our actions but players in the NFL are stroked and praised and allowed way more leeway than should be.

He won't be back. I just don't see him putting in the effort needed anymore. Especially since he was cut due to performance, not due to his suspension.
 
I wonder if the Raiders will file a complaint/protest with the league, charging that the Steelers (before the trade) were aware that he had gone back to his old ways...
