Man I don't know if we bought damaged goods and this guy won't ever suit up for us. His signing was highly praised but right now it looks like we bought spoiled fruit from the supermarket.

Hope this guy can play and be effective but this kind of article makes me wonder what the hell the FO did signing this guy so quick.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/08/11/when-will-ladarius-green-join-the-steelers-if-ever/

With Steelers tight end Heath Miller retired, it was believed the team had found a capable replacement in free-agent acquisition Ladarius Green.

The four-year, $20 million contract came with a signing bonus of $4.75 million. Nearly two weeks into his first training camp with the Steelers, Green still hasn’t emerged from the physically unable to perform list. Ostensibly absent due to lingering ankle issues that were addressed via January surgery, Green seems to be no closer to practicing than he was when camp opened.

As Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review explained on Thursday’s PFT Live, Green isn’t seen much, engaging only in limited daily running. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette explains that the team remains tight lipped about Green, with coach Mike Tomlin simply saying, “He’s on PUP.”

That’s still more than quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said. When recently discussing the tight end situation, Roethlisberger (per Bouchette) didn’t even mention Green.

The situation has prompted Bouchette to ask whether the Steelers blew it by signing Green. That question will get louder, especially if/when more time passes with Green not practicing.

These observations come at a time when folks in the know have mused about the possibility that Green will never play for the Steelers, with injured reserve eventually becoming a potential outcome for a player who presumably passed a physical at some point. Whether it’s the ankle that’s keeping Green from playing or something else physically is going on and the ankle is the official explanation, a sense has lingered over the past couple of weeks that Green isn’t close to being ready to play for the Steelers, and that he may never be.

Been waiting to see how long it would take to have people start realizing that we may have a major issue with the TE position.

So sick of the BS comments by Tomlin too...... you're not doing yourself any favors by playing coy..... you're honestly just making the speculation worse.

Worse. It is a Whorio "article":

The asshat does this to get traction from Steeler fans who call out his bullshit.

Best not to react. Dipshit Whorio gives lawyers and slack-assed journalists a bad name.

And then there is this, By Aditi Kinkhabwala

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap30...es-not-ankle-injury-sidelining-ladarius-green

LATROBE, Pennsylvania -- The Steelers made just one splashy -- and much-needed -- free agent signing this past offseason, tight end Ladarius Green. They have yet to see him in their offense, though, and a member of the organization, informed of the player's health, said it has nothing to do with the tight end's surgically-repaired ankle -- but is instead an issue with recurring headaches.

Green signed a four-year, $20-million contract in March, which included a $4.75 million signing bonus, but he has yet to practice one play.

His ankle surgery in January ostensibly kept him out of spring practices and minicamp and he's spent the entirety of training camp on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list. Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has maintained that Green's sustained absence from the field is not entirely unexpected, and he reiterated that Wednesday, as he readied his team for its preseason opener Friday against the Lions.

"He's progressing, but we really thought it would be touch-and-go up to this point," Tomlin said. "The (ankle) surgery was not a routine cleanup, so we knew it would be a significant amount of time."

Green's agent, Adisa Bakari, however, immediately said, "His ankle is fine," when reached Wednesday night. Bakara would not comment on what is ultimately keeping Green sidelined, and his client has reportedly been seen running sprints at St. Vincent's College, while his teammates practice.

Green, then a member of the Chargers, complained of headaches after suffering two concussions in two weeks last September, according to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune. Those were his second and third concussions in less than one calendar year. Green sat out one game last season due to a concussion, while ankle issues sidelined him for two others. A concussion also caused Green to miss one game during the 2014 season.

Green was expected to help alleviate the hole left at tight end after the retirement of Heath Miller. It was Miller who was Ben Roethlisberger's security blanket, one of his most dependable targets -- and blockers -- for 11 seasons. Miller missed only eight games in those 11 years, and retired as the Steelers' tight end with the most all-time receiving yards, receptions and touchdowns.

Thanks Hines.

Whorio is still an asshat that seems to have missed the salient point that he was trying to make/stir.

Ladarius Green’s recurring headaches raise questions about his future, contract

The NFL Media report, attributed to an unnamed member of the Steelers, regarding the recurring headaches suffered by tight end Ladarius Green raises questions about the player’s future, and regarding his contract.

First, rumors of Green dealing with lingering headaches have been circulating since training camp opened. The person who first mentioned the ongoing headaches to PFT suggested that Green is considering retirement. If the headaches don’t resolve, retirement remains an option.

Second, earlier today the same source told PFT that there’s new speculation that the Steelers may eventually cut Green.

Third, the Steelers could end up recovering (or at least trying to recover) Green’s $4.75 million signing bonus. If he retires, Green definitely owes the money. Even if he’s cut, however, there’s a chance the Steelers could make the same argument the Patriots advanced three years ago regarding defensive end Jonathan Fanene.

in 2013, the Patriots signed Fanene, gave him a $3.85 million signing bonus, and later cut him due to a knee injury that, as the team argued, came from a condition he had failed to disclose. If Green didn’t tell the Steelers he was still experiencing headaches at the time he was signed (and if he was indeed experiencing headaches), the Steelers could try to recover the $4.75 million.

In Fanene’s case, the grievance was settled, allowing the player to keep the $2.5 million he had received while also allowing the team to keep the $1.35 million balance.

Nice. I am not confident that JJ can be very productive.

We've got major issues:

Offense:

Bell's out 4 games, maybe more if he can't pass an NFL drug test

Bryant, gone for the year. Replacing his big plays and points won't be easy

Miller. Retired. Next man up is James. Green seems like damaged goods and there is not refund or store credit.

They will prob wait until late in training camp and re-sign Spaeth.

I don't know if he'd do it, and he's not in NFL shape, but Heath Miller we really could use you for another season.

I got the impression that Spaeth is done playing football. We will almost assuredly be hitting the market for a TE unless they're gonna ride Jesse James and use Nix behind him as a hybrid TE.

Nix is a damn fine talent, great blocker, not sure about the hands though.

Gonna be more 4 wide sets and more of Le'Veon split wide in formation this year without a legit TE threat.

Some kind of lingering post concussion issue? It's definitely a concern if he's still having headaches 6 months after he took his last football hit.

If we cut him, it's Jesse and Grimble. Although, who was that TE they liked last year and stashed him away. Is he still around? I do not want Spaeth back. I want someone that can actually be a threat to catch passes. Hopefully Jesse makes a nice leap this year. I believe he is getting all the No. 1 reps right now.
